Castlevania: The Adventure

A game that could have been so much better. Terrible speed and losing your whip upgrades combined with the usual Castlevania difficulty makes this game harder to play or get into really.

Good thing I tried a hacked version which is 50x better. :D

Batman: Arkham Origins (PC)

pretty much exactly what I expected, a full game-length expansion of Arkham City, but with a shit load of glitches and jankier combat (like seriously, it feels really weird, I miss City's combat, it felt so goddamn smooth :(). Story is, like the previous two Arkham games, is silly and stupid as fuck, but not really like, terrible, or anything.

Also the end credits are 30 fucking minutes long, I swear to fucking God, I timed that shit; pure insanity. And they move so, so slowly! And I can't use the Adam West costume because it's PS3 exclusive? At least Microsoft's exclusive deals generally expire, ugh, it's so fucking dumb. >:[

Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

All in all, a fun game, but I'm glad I didn't buy this at release, because it really didn't deserve to be bought at full price.

Super Mario 3D World
I finally beat that game; the final fight with Bowser is really epic. Currently finishing the bonus levels to get all the remaining stars and stamps. Also, the way they tease you with Super Mario Galaxy References is really annoying because WHY NINTENDO HASN'T DONE SMG3?

Destiny (PS3, PS4 version bundled)

Story is a mixed bag. Generic but enjoyable.
Narrative and plot are so old school sci-fi cheesy and I like it.
Missions are repetitive, play for the events, PvP and dicking around with friends ie. PODRACING
On that note, PvP is a blast even though there is no custom matchmaking.

Gunplay feels nice, too.

I for one welcome our new Halorderlands overlords.
I can only hope the future DLC manages to flesh out the game even more. The grimoire cards are already teasing more planets to romp through, which could mean new enemy types and maybe races.

Good investment/10

The Grimoire already shows 8 more character races slots, and I'll be damned if there isn't a playable Fallen race a la playable Elites to Halo.  Especially with all the "fall from grace" history on them.

Hope they'll break the PvP to level brackets though.  Damage and defenses are evened out for all levels, but the poor beginners don't have any of the abilities the 20+ players everywhere.  Myself included.

Dude playing as a Fallen would be the coolest shit.
They already look badass enough to make me go "DUDE THOSE FUCKING CAPES"
Spoiler: Besides (click to see content)
As long as a playable Fallen would look like a Vandal or Captain and not a damn Dreg. Looks-wise, not... arms-wise.
I'd pay a good $20 to be a Vandal on a weaponless Pike.

...or a Cabal. lol
Maybe we'd get to see how ugly Cabal faces are. :D

Given Cabal are just a copy of Brutes with Jackel shield tactics, probably a lot like this.

And I'd figure a Dreg would be the perfect place to start.  Given the Grimoire's info on them, they've shamed their house, are as good as dead to them, they had their lower arms severed and forced to not re-grow, so apparently they can grow them back when they want because they're secretly Namekians, and they can raise back up in rank by proving themselves.  What better way to prevent model issues playing with the four arms than being the two armed guys who can grow them back for a skill or something and lose them again, who'd fit in story-wise to have reason to help at all?  Maybe have a Guardian House.

But that's just my guesswork, they might not even have a Fallen race.  Though I sure hope so.

As long as my Dreg can end up looking badace, I wouldn't mind that at all.
Also goddamn I forgot about all that. lol

Professor Layton vs Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney

I thoroughly enjoyed this crossover.  The puzzles were all really well designed, and the courtroom sections were fun too.  I like the new gimmick of cross-examining multiple witnesses at the same time and comparing their testimonies against each other to point out contradictions.  The story really fizzled out at the very end though.  There was no real big climax or denouement.  Not even any real antagonist to speak of.  They just sort of figured everything out and then everyone went home.  I really missed that classic AA moment of finally putting all the pieces together and shoving it in the face of the final opponent.

Well, it was Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright after all. Professor Layton games have more "beautiful endings", aka everybody is happy and alive at the end and the criminal converts, so it was kind of expected to see that ending.

Papers, Please

I've been playing this game quite religiously lately (I have 9 of the 20 endings). Who knew that carding people and verifying legal documents would make a fun, engrossing game? The little subplots running through the game really add to the experience, and make you adjust your morals. For example, will you let a woman through who doesn't have legal documentation so that she stays together with her husband who does? Will you aide terrorists in attacking the government or will you fight them? Very well-written and addictive to play.

8/10.

Yeah well even Unwound Future ended with the Professor ramping a car onto the top of a 30-story tall steampunk battle robot.  I was expecting something to happen.  The conclusion basically went like "Here is what is really going on." "Okay, I guess we can just leave now."  It didn't really feel like a climax to the story.

Mega Man X3 - The Zero Project Hack

This is a much better version of the original game. Now Zero is fully playable and has different story dialogue when you play as him. Using the Z-Saber on bosses is more effective than the special weapons. If the final boss is defeated with Zero, X kills Sigma Virus at the end.

Eh, it was alright. It had some cool moments. I'm having second thoughts on buying the Jetstream Sam/Blade Wolf DLCs. Also, lol @ making Raiden slash the AV stars' posters to get rid of the censoring.

I thought they made the DLCs free after some time.

I know I got my Blade Wolf DLC for free.

Hmm, I honestly didn't check. I mean, should I even play it? Sure, they're free, but I honestly thought the main story was kinda ... meh.

I got the DLCs for free on XBLA too. The main game is too short. The DLCs complement it nicely to add more variety.

While both extra characters do essentially the same (hack, slash, Zandatsu) they play different enough for you to get a kick out of it. Also, it finally reveals the reason why Sam never felt like an all-the-way-villain, and Wolf actually presents an all new villain and story. Also, the cutscenes for those stories are cool.

So yeah, if you're into the mythos of MGS in general, or this game specifically, you should get the bonus content. If you're just a bystander to the series and you aren't convinced, I'm not sure this will convince you.

Streets of Rage 2
This is a classic for the Genesis, my all time favorite side-scroller Beat 'em up. Played through it with my room mate who never played it before so I could show him how awesome it is.

Megaman X1
Classic game. I still think it's the best Megaman/X game aside from the final final boss, whom I still I hate fighting to this day! The music in this game is as great as I remember it being, and Vile is still hardcore. It's a shame they turned him into a whiny teen in Maverick Hunter X though. :(

Got the Hadouken this run through!

Rockman X2
Harder than I remember. Except for the final final boss who is way, way too easy. Still a great game with some fun levels. Skipped the Shoryuken because the hell with that shit.

Go Go Ackman!
I never knew about this series until recent, Akira Toriyama game based off manga only released in Japan on the Super Famicom. Ackman is basically demon Trunks with a girl phobia. It's an okay platformer, and the last level need to be played perfectly to beat the boss. Would totally MUGENize Ackman if I ever decided to start a new project.

Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited [PSVita]

Port of the PS3 version of the game. I never got my hands on that one, but I'm glad I never did because getting all DLC bonuses and two extra more characters already included in the game is a far far better option than having to pay for each DLC. I also liked the Fusion option for monsters, I hope they keep it for Digaea 5.

Also, Desco. Because she's another good reason to play this game.
