Yup, that exactly.

Big Bad Wolves
Considered by Tarantino as the best movie of the year. A story about a cop, the suspect and the father of a girl who was kidnapped, raped, assassinated (and other horrible stuff). Builds around dialogues, some very nice tension with the music that is often cut off by pretty funny moments. The comedy part brings something fresh to what would otherwise be a dark vengence movie. Nice twist at the end. I enjoyed it, a lot.
Grade : 8/10

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Wow, pretty good. Probably the best CGI that money can buy at the moment, the apes convey emotion very well. This is also due to the motion capture performance ofcourse, but those lifeless CGI eyes can still ruin that, but it's not the case here, they're very believable.
At the end of the first movie where you see the 'Simian virus' spread globally, this movie starts with most of the human population killed off from the virus, leaving only a few colonies of people that are immune to it. On a search for a power source, the humans encounter the tribe/family of enhanced apes that live a peaceful, secluded life. Tentions eventually reach a climax where a war between the two is imminent.

9/10

Kill Zone (2005)
Action movie with Donnie Yen as cop. Pretty bland scenario, and not enough action / martial arts throughout the movie. It's wasn't bad, but nothing to remember either. Only the last 20 minutes are really great, with 2 beautiful fights involving Donnie Yen. You could almost download the movie and skip to the last 20 minutes at this point ...
Grade : 6/10 for the first hour and ten minutes. 9/10 for the last 20 minutes.

The Sentiment of The Flesh

about a woman who has a fetish of X-ray photos of her own body... VERY WEIRD, but again since when Foreign/ French movies aren't.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Now that Caesar has established his leadership over San Franci-pffffffft just kidding.

No, wait I'm totally serious.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

The virus from the last movie spread out and wiped out most of humanity, and now the apes have started their own colony. But humans aren't quite dead yet, so maybe there's a chance the survivors can cooperate with the apes???

I'm probably biased because I'm a huge Planet of the Apes fan (basically, think about Jmorphman and Gundam. That's how I am with Planet of the Apes), but I found this movie to be AMAZING. I love how for the majority of the movie, everyone's in a morally grey area. And as Balth said up above, this is probably the best CG you will ever see in a movie today, and I'm pretty sure a big part of it has to do with how well-developed the ape characters are. Hell, even the non-Andy Serkis ape actors do a really good job of it.

Just to give you an idea of how good this movie is, it actually stomps the assholes of most of the movies from the original series in my opinion.

9.25/10

Gotg

what a great fucking movie, easily my favorite so far from the marvel movies, it does what star wars wishes it did without becoming a mess of self righteous broody gritty shit.

Rocket and Groot stole the whole thing, Ronan could have had more development and benicio ruled the fuck out of the few minutes he was in.

The minimalistic approach to Rocket worked, they just gave you enough that you knew there was more than meets the eye there and then they let it go.  The way they lampshaded most conventions of those movies was awesome, from the circle moment to the moment where gamora and quill connect for the first time.

Drax is one of the best readapted characters.

I forgot to tell my thoughts. I watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2 days before watching Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

I am NOT a PotA fan. I have hated every movie before these.
But I really liked these movies. The 1st one surprised me greatly with how well it was done. You really felt for Caesar and rooted for him to set his fellow apes free. And anything with John Lithgow is amazing by default.

Dawn was completely different than what I expected it to be. In a good way. I didn't think it'd be a bad movie. I just thought it'd be about the apes taking over the world while humans were dying of a disease that gives apes more intelligence.

But it takes place like 10 years later from the 1st IIRC and the story is even better than Rise.

Won't be getting to see GotG till around the 20th mark.

Legend of the Drunken Master (Drunken Fist 2) (1994) :
Martial arts and comedy movie with Jackie Chan. Best choregraphies ever with the drunken kungfu style. Scenario is fine, acting is fine, and the various use of objects and all during the drunken fights is brilliant.
Grade : 7.5/10

Octopussy :
Decided to go on a James Bond spree, as I haven't watched them for a very long time. Decided to start with this one, involving jewelry smuggling, atomic bombs, Russians and Indians. It was fine, even though not super memorable.
Grade : 6.5/10

GotG

Every bit as good as everyone else is saying; watched it with my father (60) and sister* (13), we loved it.

There's delightful over the top violence, awkward jokes, genuinely funny jokes, shoehorned family values, and really cool characters. Go watch this.

*She wants her own Groot real bad.

Hedwig and The Angry Inch
I like to rewatch this every once in a while (because it's a very important movie to me; I will leave it to the reader to figure out why a queer rock musical that celebrates acceptance and love would be important to a young Jmorphman), and it remains absolutely fantastic. So goddamn good. And man, the music, so great.

it does what star wars wishes it did without becoming a mess of self righteous broody gritty shit.
... was either movie in danger of becoming that?

and comparing the two like that does a disservice to both, they're aiming at very different things :-\

Ronan could have had more development
Yeah that's putting it lightly.

HAYWIRE (2011)

With the lovely Gina Carano!
A black ops super soldier (Gina) seeks payback/tries to stay alive after she is betrayed and set up during a mission.
Well it was kind of refreshing at least, to see a woman kick butt, in a somewhat realistic setting. The fights were entertaining.
The movie did feel like it dragged at times, like you would see a person do a thing on a laptop or phone, that shot would last like 10 seconds, there's  no need for that! But even with those kind of shots, the movie was only 1hr 30 minutes, but it did made it feel like it was longer.
5/10

TMNT 2014

Yeah this was as dumb as everybody was expecting.

The jokes were dull, besides looking stupid the Turtles and Splinter's voices were unfitting (save for Raph's), the story is way to focused on April, to the point where

also why is Mikey crushing on her

The Shredder, goofy as he looked, was the best part of sitting through this. He had the best fight scenes and the best lines. William Fichtner's character (who's aligned with the Shredder) is pretty terrible though, what a waste of an actor.

Saddest thing? Numbers are in, and as it turns out, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles managed to more than double Guardians of the Galaxy's haul at the North American box office yesterday *groans*

(And no I didn't spend money on it myself)
