Not really. I've pretty much stuck to standard Paint and Paint Shop Pro. If it's made specifically for sprite making though, I'm interested. Is it a free program? :impressed:

I really can't remember how, but there's this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqZfMrd9DLE

And it works, too!

To make sure, your computer's Windows? if so, ever tried pressing the "Print Screen" button  and pressed "Ctrl+V" on something like Paint? Try it out!

Is it possible to get a peek at any progress made? Don't mean to sound like a nag or anything.

Sorry, school's been getting in the way so I haven't done much. But I'll try and get more stuff completed.

Finally did some stuff with Link. I decided to have a go at his crouch position. Haven't done much though.
Once again, I want to implement the shield in there to make him sort of correspond with SSB Link.

Here's the (re)revamped stance. I tried to address all issues that K.E.N mentioned.
Tell me what you guys think!
I intend to see if maybe we can add more movement with the face, like blinking and stuff. I'm kind of thinking it would be nicer if we could speed up his stance too. Make it more like his pose in the SSB series. But I'm not sure how to do that part.

Sword has even more weird movement now D: And now his upper body is static for some reason. Before there was too much going on now there' too little. Master sword looks too much like a katana than the actual master sword. Better than before though so good attempt.
Sony took it down :( Guess it gave people the wrong idea. rip amberlamps.

If you want to, you can contact the spriter if the original version of the stance. Show him what you have, then show him the feedback Kamekaze's given, and we'll see what he could do. This isn't ripping on what you're doing, just offering a suggestion.

Thanks for the honest feed back, BAKSLAY. Unfortunately, I don't necessarily agree with all your complaints though. I think it's far more of an improvement when you compare the old, spastic, stance with the new one. But I suppose one plausible animation to one can be unpleasing to another, so I'll take your criticism into consideration. As for the sword itself, I have to disagree. The Master Sword is actually rather slim when you take a good look at it.

It's also some-what inconsistent with it's designs in some of the Zelda games. Unfortunately, going through and tweaking every sprite of Link's sword is very time consuming, and I'd rather not spend the effort so I hope this one can do. (Please forgive the laziness) I don't find it to be too far off at least. I'll see what I can do about the stance. Probably try ThatIdahoGuy's suggestion. :P

The animation on his sword arm frankly looks terrible. It's jerky and makes no sense how he moves it. I suggest working on making the arm look more natural and move in sync with the rest of his body rather than jerking in a random direction. And dont make his sword move just keep it stationary.

This was actually one of the things I agreed on, and was going to attempt to modify. It is pretty jerky, not sure what I'll do. Perhaps I'll try to make his arm slightly bend, following the SSB stance. I'm not sure though.
Thanks for the tip.

That's not what I meant, look at the master sword and look at yours. Notice how yours has as sword with an angled tip like a katana while the master sword has a mirrored tip that allows it to be swung at any angle. Your master sword is a katana. Also his upper body is completely immobile which while it appears to be an improvement, remains to look even more unnatural. Compare it to other sprites of sword wielders and you'll see what I mean. I'm not sure why he's hopping around in the first place but this isn't my Link so I can't complain about that lol

I see what you mean with the sword now. I'll see if I can even it out. As for the stance, the only problem I have with it is simply the upper body that you pointed out, and his sword movements. If I can give that minimal movement, and switch up his handling on the sword, I think his stance should be acceptable. But honestly, I never intended to take this edit this far anyways. My initial intent was to simply give Link some sleeves, so he'd look even a little more accurate to his real character. The gloves, boots, and all the animations in general were something that everyone here wanted, that I didn't mind doing along with the sprites. Remaking an entire stance is really new to me. I wanted to re-sprite the character, not completely perfect him. Kind of lacking enough Mugen skill for that kind of job. :-\

That's just how the sprites appear outside of the actual release. I have him set in an adjust x and y setting so he looks more accurate in size. Don't let the looks of the sprites fool you into thinking that's how he'll look in-game.

Also, if looks is the only thing you don't like about it, then you're someone who's more concerned with graphics and not gameplay.

Okay, well let me just get out my Photoshop ver. 456000 on my HD tablet and get right to work on those high resolution KOFXIII sprites right now. After all, you know how I'm just the best sprite-artist in the entire cosmos. Yes, even the very best of Deviantart tremble beneath my polished pixels of the heavenly blessed.
Look, I appreciate the criticism but would you mind toning it down a bit. Sheesh! If you're looking for a more accurate Link, look at this guy's thread.
http://mugenguild.com/forum/topics/link-hero-of-time-149343.0.html
I'm actually looking forward to its completion, myself. But please try to be more considerate, next time you decide to just show up with the greatest masterpiece you could find on Deviantart, and complain about how someone with as little experience in spriting as me, can't match up to it.

Wow what a dickish fucking post, there is such a thing as different style. That KOF sprite isnt even the best example of how the real Link would look, its still got its own creative floursishes and proportions. The Link Gohan is working on is just Link in a different artistic style, there is nothing there that would make me thing "wow that looks nothing like the real Link." Go somewhere else if you're gonne be useless like that.

Yeah I agree with you there, Paint Shop Pro is good to sprite with. I sprite some chibis sprites too using it.

Dude... That's just being a plain douchbag and insulting to the spriter. I mean come on was that even necessary to post that? Your very mean to say that to SuperGohanSunderland, he put alot of his work and time into these sprites. You don't just come on this topic and straight out insult him.
