Some creators have offered to code it and they are free to do so, I will be coding him as well to get the earliest release as possible, I hate to wait on others to code and I insist on playing and sharing something as soon as possible, in case I ever lose it somehow and to just have something now, I hate to tease users.

You can just upload the .sff file... so you won't lose the work.

I agree to this!!! Now this must be the best looking, and prolly the best playing Link ever to mugen!! (I like some other Links too ofcourse.. but the graphic style to em is just not my taste)...

Keep it up, and add that Shield, cuz that looks tight!

Oh thanks, I am glad you are liking this so far.

I am really intimidated by those other Links since they are so good. However I really wanted a Capcom style to fight against characters of that Capcom style from the Vs Series.

Though making a mugen characters just opens up so many possibilities I am very tempted to try new things and make great use of creator liberties.

I will try to get to that shield business real soon. Thank you for your support.

You might want to refresh your browser and clean your history on your web browser to see that image posted. Either that or try using a different computer, it could be a network problem of some sort?

Also I'll release the .sff file along with the sound files, copy/pasted coding, specials, hypers, and everything else. You might also want to rebuild the .sff because I don't actually align sprites too well so you may even have to rebuild that to.

My thoughts exactly, but the idea of using it for attacking was brought up previously. It could have more possibility.



ALso I wanted to share a new special attack idea

I was thinking of using a Cape for an attack, maybe call it "The cape of Poe" and maybe have Link dash like a Poe phantom or something, maybe even have him swing or twirl a lamp? I don't know?

He did use a cape in a link to the past, but I think it made you invisible or invincible not sure which. That cape idea sounds cool though.

Given the graphical style of your Link thus far, I don't think a cape would work. However, the Poe thing is an idea. Have you thought of using the bottles that Link had in Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time? You could have fairies escape one at the start of a round to heal up Link, you could have him release a Poe to use like a striker to attack the opponent, etc. There's a lot of canon and semi-canon things you could do with a simple bottle.
As for the shield, attacking moves with the shield from the back wouldn't be too hard, just have a quick reach back. If you recall the games where he could put his shield on his back, he could have it on his arm in under a quarter second. Given that this is done using not-perfectly-clear images, it wouldn't be too hard to give the impression that Link can just whip his shield onto his arm and back for a quick bash attack

Using a sword the way that Link does in most of his games and in the sprites so far would make it almost physically impossible to be properly holding a shield at the same time

Yes I was thinking to include it somehow as a what if weapon for mugen? Link also had a cape in one of the handheld games that made him jump or something? So I figure maybe a move where a cape gives him some kind of dash attack similar to the Pegasus boots to attack as a poe of some kind?

Made me think of this



Maybe Link could build up momentum and then go into a dash wearing the cape. The shield could then become a flame like the lamp for a momentum filled hit? Like SPinal's move?

The problem is I wanna avoid making attacks that would take long or disturb the flow of the fight. It's really hard to get a move that is diverse enough but very functional to. This is the real challenge. The Poe cape idea seems to take long in theory....Maybe I need a whole new plan? Maybe Link just doing the spinal move without anything fancy but his shield?

What is also concerning is the base may not allow sometimes for the shield to be on an arm all the time since Link's base uses some attacks with both hands while swinging his sword, which is another reason why I wanna make the shield hang from his back.

Okay first special attack



A kind of Pegasus boots charge attack

I would like to add Poe's cape to this and have it waving about to sorta give a reason for the momentum force.

3 special attacks remain and then a grapple attack as is tradition of course  :sleepygoi:

The special will also kick up some dust as well for some extra fxs

I did some brainstorming for attack ideas. Feel free to shoot them down if you don't like them. There's quite a few so I'm going to sort of categorize them by how much I like them.

Ideas I really like

- Shield bash. This one has been mentioned already but I have some additional thoughts to add to it. So after a successful shield bash Link has a brief moment to cancel into a basic attack. Or if it lands and you perform the shield bash command again Link will do a somersault slash over the opponent like he does in Twilight Princess after a shield bash.

- Spin attack. One of Link's signature moves he has in many games. Could work kind of like the Hurricane Spin from Wind Waker, except since it's a 2D plane just have him move forward only.


Ideas I think are ok

- Beam sword hyper combo. I liked the beam sword attack they gave Link in Skyward Sword. When Link slashes it sends out a crescent energy slash forward that spins. You could maybe make a hyper slash combo where he slashes several times and sends out one of these with each slash.

- Megaton hammer. Overhead slam like he does in Ocarina of Time. The hammer itself does damage but an additional feature would be that it has a small shockwave effect that will bounce the enemy in the air if they're close enough but didn't actually get hit by the hammer. The idea is very similar to how Ocarina of Time made the hammer flip those spiders on to their backs if they were close to the shockwave.

- If you give him an arrow special then maybe you could make an EX version of the special be bomb-arrows like in Twilight Princess.
 

Random ideas that aren't thought out and could potentially be bad

- Farore's wind. Use it once and Link will set up Farore's wind. The next time you use it Link will be teleported to where Farore's wind was set up.

- Din's Fire. Din's fire actually has quite a few different ways it could be made. One of the possible ideas I came up with is have Link dash forward and then thrust his hand forward and release a blast of fire. Visually it'd look similar to Rock Howard's dash attack.

- Fierce Deity Link. I don't have any specific ideas but he's awesome and it'd be cool if a hyper were made out of this transformation.

- Deku nut. Thrown at ground and briefly stuns the opponent

- Arrow hyper. Link shoots several of his special arrows in quick succession. Fire, Ice, Light, and Bomb arrows.

- Roc's cape. This was a cape in Minish Cap that let Link manually jump and float for a second. Could be used for something like maybe super jumping but probably better left out.

- Jump attack. Not sure if you'd wanna give him this or not but it's a popular attack of his. Could also be chargeable like Twilight Princess. I really liked the charged version in TP.


I might come up with more later.

I like the idea of the super jump, maybe instead of the cape, the feather from the previous games? Maybe make Link tornado his way to the top? Spins all the way up there for the super jump?
