A shield strike? It would have to fit in somewhere really well, I'll have to build the character to get a feel for how its going to play and where it might go. I've sprited stuff, extra animations, that just didn't work well so they had to be scrapped.

I'll have to see when beta testing?

 I am glad you've decided to work on this, I didn't want to put you on the spot since it wasn't a sure thing so I didn't mention your name. Perhaps I can sprite a second set of special attacks as well, more closely related to Ocarina of Time for your version? I know a lot of fanboys of OoT would appreciate that out here ;)

One of your crouching attacks should be a rising sword slash/ launcher move (for variation of animation)

Not too sure about adding more launchers but if I can think of anything really good I'll try something as a last minute addition.

Okay last stuff to be done, 3 hypers or "supers"

A grapple

And blocking, (shield designs still in progress) using Hylian shield

Yeah it is large, I would shrink it but I really don't want to mess with the base, changing too much of a base can result is sprites looking like scratch work. Nothing wrong with scratch work but it rarely will match well with MvC sprites during gameplay, the secret to quality works is changing very little.

Deku Mask = Turns into Deku Link and spins he's hat to attack!
Zora Mask = Uses the guitar to attack?
Goron Mask = Spin over the screen as a curled ball?
Fiercy Diety Link Mask = Some Sword hitt'n combos hehehe....

The Legend of Zelda fanboy here lol!

That flickering thing you see in a lot of the animations here is a result of a preview technique that I am using to show both Link and the attack, which is separate from his body, to demonstrate how it will sorta look working together in mugen.

So it won't have the flickering in mugen because the animations will be coded and layered to work together, however I cant demonstrate this stuff together without code so I use this illusion technique of flickering both images together at a fast rate to give you the illusion that they are both in use together at the same time.

I am trying to diversify these weapons from previous appearances. The boomerang has come in blue, red, orange, yellow, and pink, in previous games. To demonstrate that it has a new function in ability, I changed its color to something new, purple, to signify that it won't act as the other boomerangs did, but that it will act as a new type of boomerang.

This boomerang will continue to hit the opponent, even after the first hit and will force the opponent into the air to be juggled with every additional hit. Maybe it's possessed by a Poe? ;)

The bombs I planned for a fly mode attack, in the mario games there were a few opponents at high altitude that would drop hazards, one such opponent dropped down bombs and it seemed like the best way to use a bomb in theory. A bomb can be thrown but you are in a sense still too close to it to not take damage. In a fighter there isn't enough room to run off before the thing goes off after being set down, and even then the opponent will likely not wait in front of it :p

But if done from above, the player is in the clear, the opponent is directly hit, and the impact sets the device off while being safely away enough to avoid damage.


The masks would only work as hyper attacks or new full blown characters. I considered using a mask for 1 hyper move but there are too many hypers all ready.

I would love to use the deku nut but I am not sure where it could fit? And only to stun? May not even be adult Link worthy considering he has so many other tougher weapons and possibilities at his disposal?

The hookshot is planned as a grapple attack.

Fly mode (Magic Deku Leaf)



An idea I've been dying to do! Though not sure which way to do it? In this mode I'll implement bomb throwing as an incentive to use fly mode.

Yeah maybe make the bomb bigger like this so it take two hands.

Oh you are right, I will correct this, my idea was to see Link put his sword away with the other hand but I guess a bigger bomb will look better? The explosion will have to be bigger though?

Believe it or not I am actually taking lots of shortcuts.

The sprites aren't new at all, they are reused sprites from the basics and some of the regular attacks adjusted slightly to look like new sprites.

The thing is at this speed in the game or even during regular gameplay you don't notice the smallest errors, all you see is the motion of the fight and maybe catch a few frames in motion.

That's why I don't care too much about the details. However I will be adding some detail after this spriting to make it look toon like and a few more shades will be added as well along with a shield and some other minor stuff and fixes to make it more blended with Capcom's style.

As addressed on page 4, he's gonna look like this after I do the touch ups



Only 1 more hyper attack, then I can move onto the blocking animations and grapple move. That should be everything to for the touch ups to take place.

Then just code and release ;)
