Okay hookshot grapple attack, at close range Link will use his hookshot for a 3-hit combo. Special guest star "Odolwa" for this demo LOL The attack will damage in 3 stages, first will be the contact at pointblank distance. Then the move will carry the opponent to the edge of the screen for the next damage at the walls impact. As the hookshot retracts, the cleaved harpoon tip will dislodge for a final yank of damage, which will leave the victim to fall to his painful end :pThe End
Hey Ax, will he also be able to do the spinning attack in the air?I'm pretty sure you can make good use of those Hayato sprites for that move...

The other Link, as great as it was, had a system where you collect rupees, buy stuff, alternate modes, and way too many attacks to remember during a fight. In fact a lot of characters do that so I am trying to work with less to give an easier experience on the player. Karasai said, December 06, 2012, 11:18:24 pmPlease dont tell me the Black and White flickering will happen during the game.Almost hurt my eyes watching itIt's just a rough representation of the fxs during the moveIt isn't flickering to white, that just happens to be the bg of the forum, the box in the bg is fading from bright white to black, to sorta indicate that the shield has absorbed all the light in the stage and the beam is intensified by the darkness to appear more bright to deal that power of the sun damage!I know the flickering isn't pleasant but it's the best way I can demonstrate the move's functions with the fxs and mechanics/physics.
Any chance you'll take sprite requests in the future for new attacks? There are still some attack ideas I'd like to see Link have. I'm a bit sceptical about making a Link with just these current attacks. Mirror shield hyper seems very bland in my opinion. I'm very bored of characters who simply have a beam as a super. So if I were to make a Link out of this it'd be cool if you could sprite a couple other attacks I had in mind.

For instance the hammer can be colored silver and the spikes removed to look almost identical to the megaton hammer from ocarina of time. I may do this to offer some variety for O Illustion's version and to also please the fanboys who were very displeased in my creator liberties with Link.Although I don't see why there couldn't be a few more animations made. Let me know, perhaps O Illusion can see some use for some ideas? I may have some more animations in me so it won't hurt to ask.I don't like the typical beam hypers either but in this wip i planned to represent each part of the tri-force with very specific attacks to the characteristics of the tri-force.There are 3 parts to the tri-force, each piece represents a characteristic of it's being.The sword spin hyper is the tri-force of courage, since Link will need courage to spin 100 mph with a dangerous weapon The Boomerang hyper is the tri-force of wisdom, an attack that requires expert handling to use. A magic spell probably would have been more suitable though to demonstrate wisdom The mirror shield hyper would be the tri-force of power, for obvious reasons it harnesses light energy to do a powerful attack of light.The hyper may be boring but I definitely went through a lot of trouble to do something fresh with this wip in its entirety. The Bubble wand move, the alternative way to use the hook shot instead of the "scorpion method", shield smash and dash attack reminiscent of the Pegasus boots, and the magic deku leaf fly mode, most of which are new and unusual enough to escape a lot of that boredom and expectations of this wip. Link just has a Mirrore shield attack because I need a power move for the tri-force of power.I could have just made word for word the Link from Ocarina of time and given him ice arrow, light arrow, and fire arrow (just more arrows), normal bomb throw like so many characters, the slingshot (another projectile not different at all from the arrows) in the same exact position, a boomerang special ( basically same projectile as the others and Link remains in same position), a hammer upper cut like the other Link all ready has, Biggoron sword attack (the sword is just longer but basically the same sword) that could have just had a very generic combo swings, deku stick would have just been another sword strike but weaker? Just about every moe is a throw or toss while standing...not much fun imo?The only thing that could have been remotely interesting and fresh would have been the deku nut and bombchu attack? Even then though you pretty much know what to expect from those :pI may create those two for O Illusion though if he wants to code those attacks in place of the bubble wand and dashing move? He may even want to code some hypers to be specials instead as other suggested? I am not sure what he is planning to do? Though I imagine he wants to make a direct Ocarina of Time version?I made my own custom version to give some alternative variety of style in comparison to the other Link characters and the upcoming soul calibur Link for mugen, which is very much going to be an Ocarina of Time Link all ready, and to do something more with it in terms of Link - Link has had more than 1 adventure and he has had so many other magical items and possibilities, many better and other possible, than just from 1 game. So I am sticking to my vision of Link and releasing this new jam packed warrior of possibilities. It'll be different, unexpected, but it'll be for the best since there will no doubt be another Link coming with pretty much the same stuff as ooT/smash bros/scII/ anyway.I hope you'll enjoy what I have in store for this first release and give this an unbiased look first before a judgement is passed.
tl;dr version of the above: screw you guys and your feedback, I do what I wantAx, taking your own creative liberties is cool and all, but please stop whining about people giving you their opinions. If you want to do a Link that's not very Zelda-esque, then you have to be prepared to take this kind of reaction. This whole thread has been one continuous cycle: Progress post -> feedback given -> Ax disregards feedback and whines about this being his "original" take on Link and nobody understands -> rinse and repeat. If you don't want to listen to feedback and you posts in this topic are "solely for showing progress" like you said earlier, fine, but for the love of god you don't have to post pages of pages justifying why you don't listen. Every bit of feedback doesn't have to be answered by these huge posts about why you're right and everyone else is wrong in their opinion. However, I think it's okay for me to disagree with something, I am not saying you have to agree with me, just saying why I did it a certain way instead. If someone demands to know why I am doing it another way then I give them my reasons for it, if it's a difficult explanation then I have to make it really clear by writing everything that needs to be said. If I express why I don't like some ideas then it's okay for me to give a little feedback on bad ideas :p There's nothing wrong in disagreeing with feedback. I am also entitled to my own opinion. also I wasn't attacking Dope and I invited him to suggest away and told him that I may do something that he asks, so ask away. And my future sprite suggestions will most likely not be OoT related because as you already wrote most of his other OoT equipment wouldn't make for very cool or original attacks.Really the bubble wand and magic leaf are the only things so far I think I don't care much for. They were made nicely but they seem a bit kiddy. They fit a traditional Nintendo type Link but this Link seems a bit more masculine and less wimpy so giving him things like a bubble wand is something I don't think I'd want to give him in my version of Link. I'd like to throw some new ideas for no reason whatsoever, feel free to reject/obliterate/destroy them, but first of all, this Link looks great! (:If your going to do the Triforce super ideas, maybe instead of using the mirror shield as triforce of power, u could instead have link use dins fire. Maybe he could leap and do the hyper, or u could change how the spell is used. also, u might want to change the colors of the hypers so that they match the triforces. Change the magic boomerang to a radiant/bright/shining blue, because nayru, godess of wisdom is, well blue, and abillities involving her are, well, blue! the spin attack could be a radiant green, because Farore and attacks utilizing courage are green, etc.maybe u could make fire, ice, and light/ lightning arrows have different functions. a bomb/ice arrow could explode/shatter when it connects with the opponent or reaches the other side of the screen. Fire arrows could leave behind a blazing fire on the ground as it moves! Great tip right there!I could also add in the rolling to some attacks, I recently saw some good stuff in Minish Cap on youtube about rolling attacks. Link can roll in the air as he jumps and does roll recovery and I may make it his running animation as well to include it more.The side jumping might not work in the 2D setting, but it can if I did the MvC MegaMan X mugen thing I did a while back where the block button is held and a directional button is used to evade a certain way.Though that may require me to drop some basic moves in order to use a block button.arrow variations have been suggested to me, they seem like a likely thing to do for an update follow up.Din's fire sounds tempting though there isn't something physically there to make it appear graphically wise. The Mirror shield is an icon of its own, I would hate to give it up, it's an average move, I know, but Link has to have this. I wanted a transformation thing but anything that drastic would work best as a character of its own. Personally if I were to make a transformation in this wip, I would have gone with Bunny Link instead of Wolf The mask thing would work best for a young Link Wip to give some big variety differences though.I have thought of though using majoras mask, though that be work better for a Skull Kid wip and make for a fun opponent! and then there was the mask of truth but i have no idea how that would work in battle?@Dope,I was trying to do more of a Capcom type thing in terms of theme, and Capcom is really cartoony and kid-ish in the vs series, Though I did say I was making something a little more mature and Ryu sized. Nintendo aims for young to, the Zelda games have been very kid friendly in the past. He is more mature in that his base is more manly and muscular though. Though you are right in your objection to the bubble wand and leaf thing.It's hard to find a balance in mugen with so many Links out there to dig through. However,You don't have to use that stuff, there is plenty of other animations that could be used instead, such as the boomerang, instead as a special attack. The fly mode isn't necessary, Link doesn't have to fly, I just thought it would make for a better bomb attack. You could remove the leaf and have him just throw the bomb from the floor as well.
