im interested to see how you will add his boomerang, arrows and all that to the mix. Looking forward to it.

It's inspired by an ancient story, I think Gilgamesh or some kind of Indian god using lightning arrows to take down some kind of UFO, or so the story goes.
Thanks will do, my excitement has been rekindled. I really liked working on MvC MegaManX so it was a very easy move to do Link next. Besides I need some breaks between doing DC comics and Marvel stuff, it can get tiring doing the same stuff for too long. It's good to mix stuff up and do other stuff that is of alternate interest.
yeah I like what im seeing so far I really hope you work on the coding really well. and listen and fix up feedback (joker was a mess) so was charizard.

Although the boomerang could easily be a special too that functions exactly like it does in the Smash Bros games. By that I mean you can throw it forward, or if you hold up he'll throw it at an upwards angle, or if you hold down he'll throw it at a downward angle that'll ricochet off the floor and switch to an upward angle. That's super easy to code for mugen. The boomerang could be a nice special to keep the opponent at bay.I'm a big Zelda fan so when the time comes I'm sure I'll be able to help come up with some creative move ideas.Laharl said, November 17, 2012, 04:40:18 amyeah I like what im seeing so far I really hope you work on the coding really well. and listen and fix up feedback (joker was a mess) so was charizard.Shouldn't be a problem. If the quality is maintained then odds are I'll make a Link using these sprites.
The hardest hit on your character, it's never nice to see this...Well there's officially now enough sprites for Link to be man handled :pLOLDoes anyone have a good voice suggestion for Link?I wanna try an actor's voice for Link, have him say a little more than what he says in Zelda 64Like I don't kno, just name an actor like Ashton Kutcher, but you know, a better choice I would like it close to the original though, something young adult with that boy spirit of Peter Pan, if possible.Post a vid if you like to, or some kind of audio sample, whatever.Dope said, November 17, 2012, 06:13:37 amAxKingsXRevengeX said, November 17, 2012, 03:46:18 amLaharl said, November 17, 2012, 03:23:57 amim interested to see how you will add his boomerang, arrows and all that to the mix. If the quality is maintained then odds are I'll make a Link using these sprites.I'd like that, it's all opensource, it can even be sprite edited like Empawk did with MegaManX. No need for my permission or even credit mention, it's done to be shared AlsoI wanna steer away from smash bros, I can use some stuff, but a lot of it I wanna change, I look for what's best for a fighter type, so some moves would work well and be good for certain attack but others are too similar to others and really become redundant to use, so it must be changed up a bit to make it work. That's why i started making different weapons, Link does change it up to in his games :pBut as an exampleLink has a projectile, the arrow, but now he's gonna have another with the boomerang? It just makes the other useless when you can pick the other instead. BUTIf say it's used as a hyper that hits multiple times, well that's creative and useful, and not a poor decision to make on an attack. You gotta think some stuff through. Smash Bros seems like they were just trying to fit it all regardless how it was used, they made it work but Link lacks the right commands and cleverness of his puzzle solving that he is known for.Same goes for the bombs, it would be more interesting as an aerial attack rather than another character that just throws it at you, also it's a nod to some Nintendo classic like the guy above you in the mario games who throws bombs at you from his cloud Now there's a good idea! There are a lot of good quality works but if they are boring and predictable then no one is really gonna enjoy it.

I always give credit where it's due and I see no reason not to give credit.AxKingsXRevengeX said, November 17, 2012, 06:56:24 amLink has a projectile, the arrow, but now he's gonna have another with the boomerang? It just makes the other useless when you can pick the other instead.Well yes he'd have 2 projectile attacks but that's definitely not a bad thing for a character to have more than one projectile so long as they have different properties and have their own uses. Arrows are fast and only go in a straight line where as the boomerang has it's own twist. The boomerang is a bigger projectile, has a slower velocity which means the opponent has to time their evasion differently than they would an arrow, and also the boomerang travels back to Link so if the opponent jumps over it for example they're gonna have to watch out and avoid it again when the boomerang comes back. And this is mugen not Smash Bros so the boomerang would be much harder to dodge in mugen than it is in Smash Bros. Smash Bros has wide stages with a lot of platforming so avoiding Link's boomerang wasn't very hard. Mugen on the other hand has much smaller stages and no platforms so it'd be much harder to avoid the boomerang which means it would have a lot more usefulness in mugen than it does in Smash Bros. Plus there's some unique trajectories you could give the boomerang in mugen instead of simply going in a straight line. There's quite a few trajectory possibilities the boomerang could have to make it more fun and unique than it was in Smash Bros.AxKingsXRevengeX said, November 17, 2012, 06:56:24 amSame goes for the bombs, it would be more interesting as an aerial attack rather than another character that just throws it at you, also it's a nod to some Nintendo classic like the guy above you in the mario games who throws bombs at you from his cloud Bombs are actually another thing that can easily be creative and used in different ways. I'm not saying this has to be done but it'd be cool if the bomb special kind of functioned like it did in traditional 3D Zelda games. Something like this, you do the command to pull out the bomb and from there you have several options on what to do with it 1) You can put down by Link's feet like all the 3d games do and it'll sit there for a second and then start blinking red and then explode and this could be a somewhat useful trap 2) Dont do anything and hold on to it until it explodes which makes it hurt both Link and the opponent (but Link takes less damage than the opponent). 3) Roll it along the ground like Skyward sword and which button you pushed determines how fast and far it rolls. If it makes contact with the opponent it explodes instantly. If it didn't reach the opponent it'll sit there for a second and then blink red and explode. 4) Throw it. If it makes contact it'll explode. If it misses it'll sit there for a second and then explod. Also if it misses when it's thrown and touches the edge of the screen it'll bounce off of it as if it were a wall. Not saying the bombs have to be done that way but it could potentially be fun. But this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the attack possibilities for Link. Like I said I'm sure I'll be able to help come up with some creative move ideas for Link that'll really make him stand out.
Some voices I searched throughfirst candidate,Orlando Bloom, he's done enough movies to rip fromhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QdSs4O2k_M2nd candidateLeonardo Dicapriohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=IKGA-AmLwSo3rd candidate Heath Ledgerhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhep2fZKHgE4th candidatejake gyllenhaalhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yHqnVMe54g?
Voice suggestions? But Link doesn't actually speak. (In fact, depending on which Link it is, I believe some are physically mute) As with other Nintendo stars, they try to refrain from ever needing to use their actual voice. Wouldn't all you need be the few grunts and death cries he makes in his game appearances?
If you need voices why dont you get some from actual amateur voice actors? ripping from movies will always leave your sound with background music.

I would like maybe some small words to be used, like "what?" or "Oh no!"really small stuff, still very silent but with some more originality. If it doesn't work with the character, I will just abandoned the voice clips and go with the smash bros rip instead. However, I am trying to make something more unique and different like I did with MvC Mega Man X, I gave him that whole matured design and voice.Iced King said, November 17, 2012, 04:04:40 pmIf you need voices why dont you get some from actual amateur voice actors? ripping from movies will always leave your sound with background music.Yes, but to have an actor's voice would be a thrill, to use a voice from an actor would give it some kind of special feel to it, as if you were directing your own movie and you could cast an actor for a role for the legend of zelda. It's a real treatHowever, I wouldn't be closed to the idea, if you want post or send me some of your voice samples, it may be just what i am looking for. After all, not all voice actors have such a good voice anyway. I would also accept aniamted voice actors, it's not impossible to rip, lets say, the voice Trunks from DBZ and use it for Link? Or even a Nickelodeon character like....??? Maybe Hey Arnold as the voice for Link? That would be interesting? Hmmm?
you could look for lines from this guyhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobuyuki_Hiyamait'd be all japanese though, but his siegfried grunts are identical to link's, so his spoken lines would also sound similar
...I doubt Arnold of "Hey Arnold!" would work as Link. You might be able to find simple small words such as "What" or "Oh no" in Link's actual character, though. I admit I haven't memorized ever line he's ever spoken throughout his many games, but they might have something like that during one of the cutscenes in the 3D games. (Though personally I prefer just sticking to his Twilight Princess/Smash Bros. Brawl clips)
Nothing yet, thanks for the suggestion though, but I really don't like the Eastern thing, it ruins it for me when stuff goes Final Fantasy, a lot of good games got ruined by that treatment. Westerners like West style themes. The whole androgyny thing is really lame imo.
I think with a little dust this will look pretty cool.Get up & rollingOkay it seems it's gonna be attacks from here now
if you MUST have a voice why not the animated series cartoon rofl."excuuuuuse me princess"or the ones from the cdi games.

Yea....problem with that is you're forcing a voice already known for someone else onto another character who already have a voice, as quiet as it is. It doesn't sound like Link. It sounds like Aladdin coming out of Link's mouth for some reason.Plus Link wasn't a street rat like Aladdin, which I'm guessing if you were to use his voice, you were using his insults. Link's too noble for that.I'm still for just using the voice already used by him in his own games. (Though reconsidering it to Ocarina of Time's Adult Link voice, this creation is leaning more towards him in design than Twilight Princess's more Gothic Link)

(Though reconsidering it to Ocarina of Time's Adult Link voice, this creation is leaning more towards him in design than Twilight Princess's more Gothic Link)Good points, howeverIt's hard to say what voice goes with what considering that voice actors do many roles and are shockingly the same and you wouldn't even know it.Take for instance the voice of Goku, pre-funimation, was also voicing MegaMan in the U.S. animated series. The voice for the joker The animated series batman, is also the hobgoblin voice in spiderman the animated series, and it doesn't stop there. The guy who did Cat Dog in Nickelodeon also did Spongebob squarepants. Not to mention that this guy does these voices toSo it's debatable what voice goes to what character, it may not even be an argument because these voices suit the character so well.I say give it a chance for a non-asian Link, you may like what you see and hear. Also the voice sounds young, but suits his adult size as well. He has the humble beginning sound to it as well which is similar to Aladdin. They are both adventures and heroes. On top of which his lines will be limited to a fighter's grunts and single word phrases. You probably won't detect the Aladdin in there, also it's an old movie. No one younger than 25 will recognize it.
