Fofai aka LM_ Maverick contacted the staff. He's been using the alternate account now for 5 months without incident and is wishing to return back to Guild using his proper account so he may announce releases, etc. Some of you will know why he was banned. Those that do not, it is not very important now. We're moving ahead.

Due to the amount of time he has been absent, how long he's been incognito, and without incident the Moderation Staff has agreed to allow him back. Iced should be merging his accounts shortly. He is on a strict probation period. We expect him to be a "normal" user, however this is also a blanket warning for those that may wish to poke, harass, bully him or whatever. If the staff feels anyone is attempting to make him regress or anything of the sort there will be potential penalties. Maverick is encouraged to PM any mod he chooses if he feels harassed.

On that note, we welcome Maverick back to Guild and hope he goes far.

I had a feeling Fofai was Maverick... seeing the recent model he posted clarified that.

If I remember correctly, he got into a little (heated) discussion with S.D. (nothing malicious) in the EF-12 thread without completely losing his lid (not sure if that would've been the case a year ago). I have no problem with Mav (formally) returning.

yeh I was trying like hell to diffuse that as quickly and as quietly as possible without incident. But yeah 5 months without problems using a alternate account.

Ok so this guy was banned and made an alternate account to avoid his ban and wants his main account back? Why is this ok? Because he's been behaving under a false name?

I wouldn't consider that a infinite since you have to make your opponent bounce of the wall and if you do it on the wrong side of the stage the stage interaction would activate.

The last time Maverik was on this forum, he was incredibly insulting, disruptive, arrogant, conceited, and an all around terrible poster and human being. He claimed to be better and smarter than literally every single Mugen contributor, active or otherwise. He repeatedly displayed a complete lack of respect for this entire community.

He was the source of many 10-20 page long thread derailments where he claimed to "shit" on users and their work, often totally unprovoked. Once he was permanently banned from MFG, after numerous second chances and short bans, he went straight to MI where he made several malicious attack threads, including one post that was linked to me by a friend where he used real pictures of myself and Rajaa and labeled us pedophiles. I understand you can't let what happens on other forums influence decisions here, but that is the type of person he is.

He pretended to have reformed several times the last time he was around. Please go back and reread all of the flame wars this guy caused and all of the second chances he was given and rethink this decision. Other permabanned users who were not nearly as personally insulting or wildly disruptive were shown no tolerance for alt accounts or ban evasion. After all that Maverik was guilty of, with ban evading now added to that list, I just don't see how this is a good idea. At all.

Some people may accuse me of being unable to leave things in the past or being petty or something like that, but I felt this needed to be said. This is not meant to poke him or prod him or any of that, just meant as a reminder of what he's capable of and how detrimental he was to this community.

That's some crazy shit right there... this is why I don't like to share opinions until I know more (I really should listen to my own advice a little more).

Regardless if Mav has changed for the better, some things don't just get brushed aside (so I don't blame you). I also think 5 months is a bit too soon, but that's besides the point.

I don't like to tell people how they should feel, so I'll just say that everyone (himself included) knows he's on a very short leash. If the moment something happens, they'll pull the plug quick (I hope).

I was involved with/ read everything Mav said here and MI. As long as there is no incident he can stay. I don't believe in permabans. It would take but a second to ban him again. I'm sure if he's banned again it will be for good. This was not a unanimous decision for the staff. But a greater majority didn't mind giving him one last shot.

His last ban was after many, many shorter bans where someone always said "If he acts up again, it will be for good." I think you're also setting an unhealthy precedent as far as allowing ban evasions goes.

I'm not going to get into a long discussion about this, as I've said pretty much everything I need to say. I want to add one more thing, though. Now that the accounts have been merged, I encourage anyone not familiar with Maverik to read some of his post history from before he was "permabanned." Take this for example, from his very last post:

Sean I understand your concern, Mav knows he will have to make up in terms of dealing with others to regain lost trust, we talked a bit before, and thats why he's in the whole probation thing.


I rather give him a chance since he admits his faults than just give him no chances, but we went to votes as well, and ofcourse we have an eye on him.

I hope things go smoothly and he manages to regain the trust we want to place on him. Let us sin by being too trust worthy than by being too non trustworthy if it needs to be.
Not long ago we tried the same for hjk and it failed then. We know that not always people improve, but mav expressed actual desire to improve and so we are trying to give him a chance.

Mav, more to the point maybe you should, i dunno pm some of the people you had problems before to talk with them and apologize, if you feel you didnt do the right thing it would make them more inclined to give you a chance.

I just don't get it. You were there. Plus, no one seems to be addressing the ban evasion issue and how this will make punishing people in the future for making alt accounts after being banned seem silly when you occasionally let people get away with it.

You guys do what you feel is right, whatever, I just wanted to make sure you all hadn't forgot what kind of person Maverik was and to make it clear that not everyone is okay with this. It is the feedback section, after all.

Sean, the ban evasion in itself is not a terrible offence, it's only an aggravating circumstance if he acts up. What the staff cares about is whether shit happens or not, and the point here is that he apparently did get by without causing troubles for 5 months, incognito or not, ban evasion or not. The point in not banning him right now is that he has been capable of staying calm for 5 months. "If he never ever acts up again, then what's the problem ?" is what they're saying.

Well Much can be conveyed within 2 posts which is evident in yours. Just sit back and watch what happens for the next month.  I screw up, I'm done and have proven to the people here that have given me yet another chance that I can't be trusted not only that but it shows I can't even trust myself either.

Hey welcome back! I still remember how you were telling me that my stuff sucked in comparison to yours just because I used stuff that belonged to SNK while you made your own 3D models. Kinda funny how a year later I find myself working with an entire team of graphic and music artists making our very own game AND I'm even getting paid for it! Every time I think about my current situation reminds me of you and all the things you said to me :P

In any case I'm fine with this, haven't trolled anybody around here in like a year so I'll probably not going to have any issues with him. Besides his grammar is quite better! That should tell you something has changed. IMO, just give him another chance and let it flow. His past is already as tainted as it can be, if you can't put that in the past then just ignore DM and move on. If he fucks up he'll be gone for good.
