have you watched louie on fx? if you haven't you're lame or didn't know about it. the second season started a while ago and the show was renewed for a third season.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNRNCk3YwqE
Louis CK is the best stand-up comedian today. His other short-lived HBO series, Lucky Louie, was pretty fucking good too.
I've been watching the show from the start, and I really liked the first season. The second season so far has been a big disappointment, to me at least. That "Joan" episode was particularly painful for me. I really dislike Joan Rivers, but I'm not being biased because I really dislike Dane Cook but I liked the episode he was on. My roommates and I agree that while the first season was a good mix of funny/awkward/depressing, the second season has been mostly awkward and depressing and very little funny. I've been enjoying Wilfred more. Still going to keep watching it because Louie C.K. is great and the first season of the show built up a ton of good will for me.

C'mon, how can you not like that episode? That ending!
The ending was the only funny part of it to me. I just hate Joan Rivers, and her giving Louie all that advice got repetitive, she said the same thing over and over and just kept making the same self-deprecating joke. Yeah, you're really old, we get it. I just don't find Joan Rivers funny at all and that episode was ALL Joan Rivers. So maybe I was being biased, what I meant was, I know the show can be funny even when it revolves around someone I don't like (Dane Cook), but the Joan one just didn't work for me like that one did.
The season finale was pretty sad. Also, what about his niece? And why not discuss the Wilfred season finale too? That ending... I can't wait for next week, with It's Always Sunny and Archer coming back!
So yeah the second episode is on tonight. This season's first episode was great, especially with the reveal of Louis C.K.'s ex-wife.
I love Louis CK and I just started watching this since I got a bit of free time, it's hilarious. Was watching ep.6 of season 1 just now and I've got a stomach cramp from laughing too much after eating lunch.
Seeing the camera crew filming the "rescue" in the credits was pretty surreal.Maybe it was just the guy in the wetsuit?
i think that was the best episode of the season so far. that song is going to play in my mind whenever i check out a girl
I was really worried that Parker Posey's character was gonna jump in that final scene because the episode was almost over and Louie never wins romantically. But then... nothing bad happened. He won.yay EDIT: so everyone seems to think Parker Posey's character is crazy and throwing off warning signs? I don't see it. EDIT2: "To respond to something you wrote below- going from seeing your date give a homeless guy a pickle to forcing him to buy ridiculously expensive medication and put him up in a hotel for the night is not "non-normative kindness", but sociopathic, extreme behavior."are you fucking serious
these episodes keep getting better. robin williams was great and opie/anthony/jim norton/amy schumer being radio idiots was great. motherfucking jb smoove too.
Young Louie looks so weird.Meanwhile Sarah Silverman looks exactly the same. Posted: August 11, 2012, 10:37:39 amSomeone pointed this out to me: that reality show ("Money House") that Louie and Maria Bamford were watching in Daddy's Girlfriend part 1 reappears in this week's episode, and the dead body of the woman who was stabbed in the previous appearance is there, laying on the floor, while the winner is announced. Also, among the remaining contestants, is the guy who stabbed her!
didn't even see this thread! I love this show, didn't get into it till this season, but I love it. Love his intro song too, sing it every time it comes on. lol the one with parker posey was great.
Loved the finale. was a bit bittersweet but I'm happy how it ended. Louie felt better about himself in the end. And the scene with his kids was really touching. This is one of the best shows on tv.also yes Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyFuckin Letterman
what a great show. now comes the long wait for season 4 oh well i guess it's always sunny and eventually arrested development will make the wait tolerable
There's one more episode!I thought it was the end too, then I saw thisThe A.V. Club said:Nathan will be back next week to bring you to the end of season three. Thanks for having me around so much this season, and thanks for not caring when I messed up all of Nathan’s stuff.also Nathan Rabin is a bad reviewer and why can't Todd VanDerWerff review this show, I'm sick of Rabin calling every female character a manic pixie dream girl and shouting GAY PANIC at the drop of a hat and oh my god he keeps using the word flibbertigibbet when there's no need at all aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
oh shit, there really is one more episode left. how do you follow up after that three episode set, though? that looked like a perfect season ender.also it's worth noting that louis hasn't been on letterman for a long timehttp://www.esquire.com/features/man-at-his-best/q-and-a/louis-ck-interview-0611-2#ixzz2771QdCLl): said:[Louis checks a text on his phone.] Good. Okay.SR: What?LCK: Trying to find out when the show's going to premiere so I can go on The Tonight Show and all that stuff.SR: That's the one you have to be on?LCK: That's the highest-rated of all the late-night shows. Plus, Jay puts me on whenever I want. I really like Jay, and he's always invited me to come on. They don't have me on Letterman anymore.SR: Why?LCK: I don't know. I haven't been on Letterman in 15 years. I loved doing that show. Dave's my favorite. Dave's who I watch — I wrote for him. And I did the show five times or so, and I've been told that I'm not okay there anymore.SR: There has to be a reason.LCK: No one would tell me.
oh wow no shit? that's crazy. And yea I thought last night was it too. and arrested development is coming to fx?! O_o
oh. Okay for a second I thought you meant on Fx since It's always sunny is coming back next month. I thought you meant it was coming on fx as well. New eps on Netflix?

For SHAME.Edit- That scene with the guy doing tai chi with him was hilarious. A gif of that would be awesome.
Titiln said, September 28, 2012, 08:57:54 pmthat episode was fucking depressingOn the other hand, Amy Poehler as Louie's sister!!!
Can't wait 'til next year? Tough luck, Louie isn't coming back until 2014! And yes I know what everyone's thinking:Obamaalso this is neat
So Louis CK was on Saturday Night Live yesterday and was in this parody mashup of Louie and that Lincoln movie. It's pretty funny. The monologue he did was also good, the rest of the show (besides the Fox and Friends correction list) was pretty meh otherwise.
Watching two episodes a week is gonna be tough; I feel so emotionally drained after two in a row!I kinda want Jerry Seinfeld in every episode, scowling at Louie's every action.
i'm catching up on the latest 4 episodes. i wish the show was funnier overall, because after looking at his standup and his past o&a appearances i know louis ck can be really fucking funny when he wants to. the parts that aren't funny are still entertaining and interesting, but i wish he put more focus on funny shitthen again sometimes i think the show strikes that balance between funny and not trying to be funny, so the funny stuff becomes funnier when it happens. i don't think i would like it if the show was 100% funny lines either. it's hard to explain
Season 4 is weird. Every time I've watched the show it's been hilarious, but with season 4 starting with the episode where he Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyloses his daughter on the subway and then the arch where he's in love with a woman who doesn't speak english, it's just not funny. Louie is one of the only shows on tv that still makes me laugh and I don't really know what he's going for with the last couple of episodes.
I think the show is still outstanding and easily one of the best TV shows ever, but there's definitely a lower emphasis on comedy with the last 7 episodes. Those last 7 episodes all been a multipart episode called Elevator (except the last one that aired this week, it was the start of a multipart episode named Pamela), and the focus on drama stuff has basically been constrained to them (Back, Model, and So Did The Fat Lady all felt like the first three seasons to me); I think Louis C.K. just wanted to try something new with these arcs and I'm totally digging it, even with the shift in genre. And even then, Pamela Part One had a much heavier comedic bent (and also, I am so glad Pamela Adlon is back!)
it's by no means bad television, because it's still entertaining, but then i remember all the funny shit louis has done and kinda wish i was seeing more of that instead
I feel the same way, kinda, I dunno. I like what he's doing but wanna see some more straight comedy episodes, I guess. Here's a video with all of Amia's lines, subtitled in Englishand apparently Philip Seymour Hoffman was gonna guest star in one episode, it would've been great, this sucks.
oh yeah it should be obvious that the part when he forced himself on pamela caused an internet shitstorm
Just saw this: it turns out Louis C.K. stole those scales in real life, recounted here back in the live show days of Comedy Death Ray/Comedy Bang! Bang!
I loved that ep of him as a kid. I agree with both of you on the darker less comedic tone overall,Still an awesome show. I wonder if the next season will be lighter toned and less dramatic than this season. Not that it was bad by any means, but a more light toned season would be fun to watch again. I didn't think the whole season was going to be as serious as it was. Then again props to Lois for taking the chance on it.
