M.U.G.E.N. Won't work at all

Alright so you got me. I'm a noob. Well I heard a bit about this game or rom. And was like wow thats pretty cool. Versatile you can create your own character seems pretty well made too. So I download it and try to play it, when I'm shocked I've got no idea what I'm doing. Ok so I go online and follow many tutorials until I know what I'm doing to try it on my own since nothing is working. I got Winrar to unzip it and all but everytime I try to play it same thing comes up. winMugenexe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the inconvienece... Yeah well sorry don't cut it! Can anyone lend a helping hand? Never even got to the start screen --;

What do the last few lines in a document called "mugenw" which is located in the MAIN MUGEN directory say?

I'm not mugen savy at all. I just downloaded it. And then I used winrar to unzip it or whatever. Then when clicking on winMugen.exe twice to open it. Its just a window saying and quote:
"Winmugen.exe has encountered an error and has to close. Sorry for the inconvienence." I looked all over google for an answer but no dice. Any help?

In the main folder of the MUGEN. You know, the place where there are folders that says "char", "data", "docs", and stuff. There should be a file called "mugenw" that's a text document. What do the last few lines in that document say?

where exactly did you download mugen from?

could be the .cfg has a screenpack listed that you don't have the files for or the paths got messed up or something.  Look around for that download mugen FAQ on this site and try it all again.

Or you know actually do what Candora asks of you... --;

redownload if page you are getting it from doesnt look all brown and beige it probably isnt a good file.

I'm pretty frustrated. Mugen seems like such a great game but I can't play it. I think the best thing to do is start over and if you will please have a one on one step by step process with me. Via whatever you have that works and I can access.. I just feel like there is a hole on my life that only Mugen can fill. (Okay a bit of exaggeration but you get my point)
