Main Screen and Character Select music

I have come to the conclusion that when operating on Windows 7, the main select screen and the character select screen music does not play.  The sounds will, and the animations will, but not the music.  Why is this?

Can someone help me?  I'd really like the music to come back on.
Glad to be of service if I can!

  • Objection!
Convert them to .ogg format as opposed to .mp3

When I tried .mp3 in the main and select screens, the music would play, very very rarely. Ogg files play every single time. I don't have problems with .mp3 in stages however.

I converted it to OGG as you said, but it wont load it.  It says there is an error.  When going into the system file to change it again, i discovered that it only mentions MP3, MOD and MIDI files.  :C

If you're using Winmugen it should read .ogg if you have the plugins that is.

Install the vorbis plugin so you can read .ogg files.

Sadly, that doesnt work either.  I have Windows 7, so the codecs wont install properly.  I followed the instructions, but nothing happens.  I figure I'll download a program to convert my music in to MIDI.  Would that perhaps solve my problem?

Are your files like.... MP3 files? Is there something that can actually convert MP3 to MIDI?

Did you place the plugin in the mugen plugin folder? I think thats all you need to do to install plugins for mugen.  :-\

Or is there more to it?..... I don't know very much about plugins.

There are ways to convert it, I'm sure, I just havent found a free way yet.  x_x

And as for the plugins, I did a little research and found that you have to put the changes for the plugin data in the mugen.cfg file.  I was wondering where the data went.

However, even though I have the vorbis.acm file, I dont have the vorbis.dll file to be a plugin at all.  And even though I've tried to install it by right clicking, like the instructions tell me to, it brings up a small window for half a second, then disappears.  Nothing else happens.

You just need to copy the .dlls to the plugins folder and edit the mugen.cfg file to add them like you said.

Did that...  and it still wont play.  Instead, it brings up an error message saying "Ogg.dll was not found on your computer."

what line did you add on the mugen.cfg?

The only line that was in there was plugin = looptype=2, plugins/DJ-VAN.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg

I added these lines to the cfg as well as downloaded all the plugins and put them in the plugins folder.  And yet, it still doesnt work, neither mp3 or ogg.

plugin = looptype=2, plugins/in_mad.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg
plugin = looptype=2, plugins/in_mp3.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg
plugin = looptype=2, plugins/in_mp3pro.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg
plugin = looptype=2, plugins/vorbis.dll, ogg
plugin = looptype=2, plugins/ogg.dll, ogg
