N.

Sorry, I hit the character limit to the 3rd post in my other thread and decided that it'd be best if I just made a new one.  TBH,  I never thought the notes list would ever get this big when I first started this. :\

This thread's gonna remain locked.  You can PM me if you'd like me to look at something, but I make no promises (I may at least look into it to see if it's within my current skillset).

So around April 2014, I got into trying to convert what I found in Artmoney to cheats for MAME.  I'm mostly focused on making it easier to rip character sprites, but you may find BG ripping and possibly even sound ripping cheats in there whenever I'm able to find something.  I created/tested them in either mame-rr-0144-test0, mame-rr-0139-test2, or whatever the most current version of MAME is (I tend to jump between them).

As of 6/20/17, I'm gonna try and add sound player/replayer cheats to anything that either doesn't have a sound test or can be played with Bridge M1.

Also, unless I credit someone else, I probably took the cheats from Pugsy's pack and added mine to them (I'll mention where mine start.).

Spoiler:  You may not have access to the cheat option when you press Tab.  Maybe this can help. (click to show)

Edit: This is for older versions of MAME.  They updated the UI around 1.71-ish so you can do it through that.

Here's my attempt to simplify having MAME create the .ini file you need to give you access to the cheat option:

Step 1: Create a shortcut to mame.exe and add -createconfig or -cc to the end of it (make sure there's a space between it and .exe), and double click that.  Alternatively, you could open a text editor, add start mame.exe -cc, save that as a .bat file and double click that (if you have multiple MAME folders, you can transfer and use the .bat file as long as the .exe is mame.exe)

Step 2: Scroll down to # CORE MISC OPTIONS, look for "cheat", change the 0 to 1 and then save.

Step 3: Create a folder named cheat, and add the cheat files to it.  The next time you run the emulator, press Tab.  Cheat should now show up as an option.
Spoiler: For sound ripping, you could also use M1 to rip the sounds to some of these games. (click to show)

Get M1 here:
http://www.zophar.net/utilities/arcademusic/m1.html

Get Bridge M1(it's a frontend for M1) and the latest files you'll need for it here:
http://www.e2j.net/downloads.html

Once you do that:
- Put the contents of Bridge M1 into the M1 folder (or vice versa).
- Put the game you want to rip sounds from in the roms folder.
- Double click BridgeM1.exe, and load up the rom by clicking the load button.  Turn off output normalization if you want to.
- Whatever sounds you want to rip, click the record button, play the sound, then click stop.  Whatever you recorded will be in the waves folder.
Spoiler: Recording audio files through MAME (click to show)

Useful for if you want to record a game's sound test, but don't want to worry about the sound being jumpy (like Dragoon Might, or Golden Axe: The Duel, for example).  What you'll want to do is create a shortcut to mame, add the rom name, -wavwrite, and what name you want to .wav to be.

"C:\mame\mame.exe" kof94 -wavwrite wavfile.wav

Alternatively, you could open a text editor, add start mame.exe kof94 -wavwrite wavfile.wav to it, and save it as a .bat file.

This will do a constant recording the moment the game is loaded.

If your version of mame is not located in C:\ or the emulator's not named mame.exe, change them accordingly.  dragoonj is the name of the rom for Dragoon Might, so you'll also want to change that.  wavefile.wav could also be changed to something else if you want to record more then 1 wav file (wavefile1.wav, wavefile2.wav).  You could also put this into a text file and save it with the extension .bat, so you don't have to go into command prompt every time you want to use it.
Spoiler: If the game's still not loading, despite having the most current files.... (click to show)

If you just want to run the game, either:
Create a shortcut to mame and add the name of the rom to the end of it:

"C:\mame\mame.exe" kof94

Or open a text editor, add start mame.exe kof94, and save that as a .bat file.

If you want to see the error messages in the command prompt window, open up the command prompt and add variant of this:

cd C:\mame && mame.exe kof94

Here's 2 reasons why I mentioned this:

1. King of Fighters '94 does not load for me through MAME 0.172's menu (using just MAME).  I re-downloaded the ROM and BIOS, and it still didn't work.  Worked when I loaded it through the command prompt (got a message saying it might have errors, but aside from that, it seemed to work ok).

2. It was assumed earlier that Tattoo Assassins doesn't work with the newer versions of MAME.  Turns out it was missing a file, and if you try loading it through the command prompt, it'll tell you what file you're missing.

Now that that's out of the way, here's cheat packs of my findings (too many to maintain individually).  Check the spoilers for my notes and a screenshot.  BTW, LU stands for Last Updated (because I have a tendency to go back and try to improve old cheat files), and isn't part of the game's title:

- I haven't looked too much into what the dipswitches can do, but I know they can display debugging info, and show BG collision boxes.  I found something that gives you access to the dipswitches and modified the cheats so you can turn on the switches you can't access with MAME-RR because there's apparently no 4 button.
- I don't know how to access the secret test menu yet, but you can look at the player and enemy throw tests, the scroll 2 test and view an unusable menu (it's to show that it is there).

- The Display Hidden Debug Edit Menu cheat was found by Abystus.  This cheat file contains cheats to hide the text, shadows, and 2nd player sprites to the test menu.  It also allows you to access Akuma's sprites.

- To access Akuma's sprites: Turn on the cheat, then hold P1 Coin and press or down a couple of times (it doesn't immediately switch the sprites, and the colors might be messed up when it 1st does).
- To switch the BG color, turn on the cheat, then press P2 Coin.

- The Display Hidden Debug CHARACTER TEST cheat was made by Abystus.  I added some cheats to it to make it easier to rip sprites without worrying about the text, player shadow, and cursor getting in the way.  I also found something for the Object and Scroll 1-3 tests, but you probably won't need to use those.

How to use:
Press F2 to go to the test menu, then press enter to on the cheat.  You now have access to the Character Test.

The buttons:
P1 Coin (Kawaks): Changes background color.

P2 Coin (Kawaks): Hides text/cursor.

P2 Start: Switches between 1 Player Only, 1P & 2P, Nage Mode, Effect Modes.

How to use: Turn the cheat on at the screen after the RAM/ROM Check.  It'll tell you the name of the game and what version it is.  If you turn it on at the title screen, the graphics for it will be stuck on the screen.

How to use Obj Tool (Anime):

P1 Start: Changes Background Color

P2 Start: Changes Object Color State.

Hold P1 Button 1: Plays an animation

Hold P1 Button 1, Press P1 Button 2: Resets animation to 1st frame

Press P1 Left or Right: Changes animation

Hold P1 Button 3, press P1 Up/Down: Changes to another object

Hold P1 Button 1, press Left/Right or P1 Up/Down: Repositions object

Hold P1 Buttons 1 and 2, press UP/Down or Left/Right: Flips sprite vertically or horizontally

Hold P1 Buttons 2 and 3, press UP/Down or Left/Right: Show/Hide/Change Collision Boxes

For hiding the cursor and shadow though?  The cheats may or may not work with the newer versions of MAME (I had to find cheats to hide them 3 times now).
Spoiler: Daraku Tenshi - The Fallen Angels - LU:04/26/15 (click to show)

Don't worry.  You can hide all this text.  I actually have some stuff to make ripping character sprites easier for this game now. :D

- My cheats are: Hide/Show Test Mode Text, Reset Palette To Normal, Action Test Button Info, Debug: Anim Code (experimental), and Set Debug BG color To...  Everything else is XGargoyle's.
- If you're like me, and didn't know this game lets you access the extra options, hold P1 Button 1 and press F2.
- About Debug: Anim Codes A and B: Use B to increase the values from 0-255.  A is for if you want to go past that (it'll make sense once you see how they affect the values).  Press delete on your keyboard to reset the cheats to off (so you don't have to hold left to go back to 0).

- About Debug: Anim Code (experimental):  It sometimes doesn't work.  That's because of something I added to it to keep the value from being added every millisecond.  If it doesn't go past the point where the value resets back to 0, just try it again.  I added it, because I'm thinking of trying to use it in other ways.

How to use Action Test (despite having a screenshot showing the info):

P1 Button 1: Cycles through characters

P1 Button 2: Toggles Zoom

P1 Button 3: Cycles forward through animations

P1 Button 4: Cycles backwards through animations

P2 Button 1: Pauses/Unpauses animations

P2 Button 2: Frame-by-frames through an animation (must be paused first)

P2 Button 3: Switches character's palette (1P/2P)

P2 Button 4: Switches character's palette (Stages 1-9)

1P/2P Up/Down/Left/Right: Repositions character

Spoiler: Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix (USA 970904 Phoenix Edition) - LU:10/27/15 (click to show)

The character test was found by Sudden-Desu.  I added some cheats to it for recoloring the BG/Text/Shadows and repositioning the players for easier sprite ripping.

- The link has an explanation for how to use the character test.
- The color mods will recolor some of the other menus, but they're intended for the character test
- How to use the color mods: The one that doesn't give only 00 and FF for choices has about 32 possible colors to search through (possibly 64).  This isn't taking into account the character's colors, either (I suggest using only the ones where the character looks normal).
- Despite the cheats I've made for it, there's no kawaks cheat that'll give you access to the secret menu.  You'll have to use Artmoney/Cheat Engine to get access to it.

How to use Artmoney/Cheat Engine to do this:

- Go to the Test Menu and search for 546D00F200940006 (6083519711039193094, if you don't have any of the hexadecimal boxes checked) at integer 8 bytes.  You should get 1 result.
- Change it to 546D00F2009429B6 (6083519711039203766 is the decimal equivalent).
- Enter, then exit the input test.  Press 1P/2P Start to exit back to the secret test menu if you end up in the object test.

You'll probably have to do this with every session of the emulator.

Spoiler: Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara (Euro 960619) - LU:10/27/15 (click to show)

The secret test menu was found by Sudden-Desu.  I added some cheats to it for recoloring the BG/Text/Shadows, hiding/showing the text/BG, and modding the BG tiles to cover the screen (couldn't recolor the black BG, and the colored BG didn't cover the entire screen).  The sound test was from Pugsy (seemed useful to have in there).

- The link has an explanation for how to use the character test.
- Hide/Show Text is used with change BG tiles (it shows a grid pattern that I tile modded into a solid color so the color mods work with it).
- How to use the color mods: The one that doesn't give only 00 and 01 for choices has about 32 possible colors to search through (possibly 64).  This isn't taking into account the character's colors, either (I suggest using only the ones where the character looks normal).  Unfortunately, this will probably only help you with non-enemy things (couldn't get the enemies to use their Palettes).
Spoiler: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future (Japan 990913) - LU:05/02/16 (click to show)

- The only cheat in this that's not mine is Select Version.  It came from Pugsy's cheat pack.
- How to access the hidden Developer menu: Set the version to Development, soft reset the game, hold P1 button 1 and press the Service Test button.
- For Music and Voice Test, may or may not be useful.  All it does is force the audio test to play sounds past the point where it should cycle back to 0.  There's also a cheat you can use with it that modifies the tiles to show you what number it should currently be at.
- How to use the Object Test:

P1 Start: Switches between P1/P2
P2 Start: Toggles H/V-Zoom on/off
P1 Button 1: Go forward to next sprite
P1 Button 2: Go backward to previous sprite
P1 Button 3: Toggles Color Code on/off
P1 Button 4: Toggles H-Flip on/off
P1 Button 5: Toggles V-Flip on/off
P1 Button 6: By itself, nothing.  With P1 left/right, changes Colormap value
P1 Up/Down: Cycles through the Color Code, when toggled on
P1 Left/Right: Cycles through sprite sets
P2 Up/Down/Left/Right: Repositions P1
P2 Button 1: By itself, resets H/V-Zoom.  Affects V-Zoom with 2P Up/Down, Affects H-Zoom with 2P Left/Right
P2 Button 2: Switches sprite priority between 1P/2P
P2 Button 3: By itself, nothing.  With P2 Up/Down/Left/Right, snaps P2 to P1 and repositions both of them

- This has been around for a long time.  All I did was add some color mods so you can rip the boss sprites, a BG color mod, something for hiding the text, and something that lets you access the Character/Scroll Tests by pressing F2 (it'll send you to one of them instead of the Service Test).

How to use the test menu
Spoiler: Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness (Euro 950424) - LU:02/01/16 (click to show)

Look Face and Look Moji work, but the others have apparently had their controls disabled (aside from exiting by pressing start).  I got it sorta working.  It's not perfect, but for now it's better than nothing.

How to use:

- Go to the Test Menu by pressing F2, select Access Other Menu, and press Enter.  It should send you there.

- Freeze P1 X/Y position and make them face in the direction you want them to face in (constant changing what direction P1 is facing in or where they're positioned at is a side effect of Spriteset/Animation).
- If you want to cycle through their animation sets, set Spritetset/Animation to Spritetset 2 and use Spriteset 2 mod to cycle to the animation you want to rip.  Change Spritetset/Animation to Animation On, and it'll cycle through an animation if there is one.  If you miss it, change it to Spritetset 1 and back to Animation On, and it should replay the animation.  You could also use Freeze P1 Animations to stop the animation.
- If you want to look at other character/effect sprite sets, set Spritetset/Animation to Spritetset 1 and use Spriteset 1 mod to cycle to the what you want to rip.  You could also try to use the color mods to try and make some of things appear like they should (or at least give them a Palette that's easier for you to recolor, if you're unable to).
- You probably won't need to use Boost Type, Shoulder Weapon/Arm Frames.  They're in there just in case.  Arm Type's in there for if you want to try and get creative, I guess (Screenshot shows Blodia using another arm, along with the Palette mods)
- Palette mods might only be needed for the arm spritesets.  Alt Palette is kinda iffy on how it works.
- Hide Tiles are if you want to hide certain things, of course.
Spoiler: Violent Storm (Ver EAC) - LU:02/26/16 (click to show)

- To access the OBJ TEST:  Go to the menu by pressing F2, go to the cheat and press enter, press Start.  If it doesn't take you there, go back to the main menu and try again (it's a cursor mod).
- The BG color mod doesn't work until you move around the cursor in the center window.
- Some of the enemies/items won't have the correct color unless you mess around with COLOR/PALETE.
- Not sure if I got all the shadow colors (you could always use the color edit to edit them, I guess).
- To hide the axis icon, turn off CENTER.
- If you're interested in the hitboxes, you'll want Toggle Hitbox Viewer switched to show before going to the OBJ Test, so the info for the hitboxes shows up.  Otherwise, don't turn it on (shows hitsparks during attack frames)
- How to use the Object Test:

Service 1: Changes P1's sprite priority (whether or not the sprite is drawn over the debug info/P2)
P1 Left/Right: Changes P1 H Facing, Moves P1 horizontally (when MOVE is toggled on)
P1 Up/Down: Moves P1 vertically (when MOVE is toggled on)
Hold P1 Button 1: Cycles through animation
P1 Button 2: Reset animation to 1st frame.  Goes to standing sprite if at 1st frame.
Hold P1 Button 2, P1 Left/Right: Decreases/Increases Sub by 10 (cycles through different spritesets.  You'd use this to see different animations to a character)
Hold P1 Button 2, P1 Up/Down: Increases/Decreases Sub by 1 (cycles through different spritesets.  You'd use this to see different animations to a character)
Hold P1 P1 Button 3, P1 Up/Down: Increases/Decreases ACT by 1 (cycles through different spritesets to characters/items)

P2 Left/Right: Repositions hitbox horizontally (when hitbox edit window is selected), Switches off/PALET (switches to different Palettes).
P2 Up/Down: Goes up/down list to a selected window, Repositions hitbox vertically (when hitbox edit window is selected)
Hold P2 Button 1, P2 Left/Right: Increases/decreases length of hitbox (when hitbox edit window is selected), Goes into color edit when PALET is selected
Hold P2 Button 1, P2 Up/Down: Increases/decreases length of hitbox (when hitbox edit window is selected), Goes into color edit when PALET is selected

P2 Button 1: Toggles/increases value to selected option

Spoiler: Final Fight (World) - LU:07/25/16 (click to show)

It turns out Zakria found this before me.  Would've been nice if TCRF added it to the wiki (to be fair, I should've googled to make sure first).  *shrugs* Oh well.  His was for the older versions of MAME and had 2 lines that don't seem to be needed (using the 1st line and holding the buttons accesses the menus for me).

How to use:

- Press F2 to turn on dipswitch that switches the game to test, then press F3 to reset the game (with MAME-RR, you have to use the debugger to soft reset.  Also, you may have to load the game through the command line, because that's what I had to do to get it working).
- Hold P1 Button 1 to access the Scroll Test.  Hold P1 Button 2 to access the OBJ Test.

How to use (Alternate Method):
You'll have to get to the Test Mode Menu first, and there's 3 ways to do that:

1. Press F2 to turn on dipswitch that switches the game to test, then press F3 to reset the game (with MAME-RR, you have to use the debugger to soft reset.  Also, you may have to load the game through the command line, because that's what I had to do to get it working).

2. Go into Dip Switches in the Tab menu, go down to Game Mode and set it to Test, then get out of that and press F3 to reset the game (also requires the debugger to soft reset if you're using MAME-RR).

3. Hold the service button (9) when the game is loading up.  If you get the Warning screen, you did it too late.

If you do it correctly, you'll end up in the Input Test.  Press 1P buttons 1+2 to exit to the Test Mode Menu.  Then go to my cheat and press enter.  You'll get sent there from that.

The buttons:

Hold P1 Button 1: Cycles through frames of an animation.  Tapping it can sorta make it go frame by frame.

P1 Button 2: Resets animation to 1st frame on 1st press.  Puts player/object 1 into standing frame on 2nd.

P1 Button 3: Confirms choice in option list.

Hold P1 Button 3, Up/Down: Goes up/down choices in option list.

P2 Up/Down: Up/Down: Goes up/down choices in option list.

Hold P1 Button 3, Left/Right: Makes player/object 1 face left/right.

Hold P1 Button 1,2,3, Left/Right: Makes player/object 1 face left/right and spawns(?) player/object 2.  You probably shouldn't do this.

Hold P1 Button 3, Left/Right/Up/Down: Repositions hitboxes (if option is set to Body or Attack).

P1 Buttons 1+3, Left/Right/Up/Down: Repositions character/object 1 on the screen (if right option is set to Size.  Initially.  You can then reposition them by holding P1 Button 3 and pressing Left/Right/Up/Down).  Edits Body and Attack boxes (if set to Attack or Body).  Cycles through weapon frames (if set to 5th unlisted option.).

P1 Buttons 1,2,3: Resets player/object 1 position.

P1 Left: Toggles grid layered over player/object, layered behind player/object 1, off.

P1 Right: Changes BG color.

P1 Up/Down: Cycles through player/object states.

Hold P2 Start, Up/Down: Changes player/object 1 to next player/object.

P1 Start: Changes player/object palette if they have one to change.

And here's how to use the Scroll Test:

P1 Button 1: Increases stage number.  Increases speed.

P1 Button 2: Selects stage.

P1 Button 1+2: Exit to menu.

P1 Start: Switches to stage collision box viewer(?).

P2 Start: Locks camera.

P2 Left/Right/Up/Down: Moves cursor (I don't know what it's used for, aside from showing you what parts are accessible).

Wayder found this.  I just added some extra cheats to make ripping things easier.

How to use:

- Turn on the cheat on, and start the game.  You should get sent to the object test instead of the opening cutscene.
- You probably won't need to use Palette +256, but it's there, just to be safe.
- The position mods have alternate versions, because the position the object is at on the screen is 0000/0000 (FE00 repositons it offscreen and increasing it to FFFF puts it back onscreen)

- This uses a cursor mod to access the extra options.  You'll be using WRS Sound (it's not a sound editor).
- You could use ATR and NO to view the animations and get the timings for them.  WRS Sprites is to show you extra/unused sprites.

Hope those help someone.

Edit: - Added 2020 Cheats/Character Tests.  These were intended for newer versions of MAME, but I haven't tested every single cheat beyond stopping error messages from popping up.  I probably should, TBH.  I know the hitbox viewer for Armored Warriors no longer works
I had to change where a lot of my cheats wrote to, because the MAME devs decided sometimes CPU registers should have different names when they do updates (Like :dcs to :dcs:dcs or :screen.0 instead of :screen).
Also, I think I'll have to sort through all of this again at some point (I don't remember what needed to be improved upon).

- 64th street: Removed anything that affects the audiocpu.  They don't work.
Superior Soldiers: Turns out P1 frames actually uses 2 bytes that you could use to display specific sprites to a player.  Renamed it to sprites, since it's probably not frames ("it seemed like a good idea at the time" seems to be a recurring thing with me).
Bloodstorm: Fixed the BG X/Y cheats (hopefully, I won't need to fix them again).  Replaced the "play as ___" cheats with something that should actually work (these ones mod the password input and input count values).
Best of Best: Changed some hide BG cheats to show/hide BG and added 2 more.  Added a sound player, something to tile mod player shadows, some hide obj tile cheats, and changed recolor player shadows to use an address from color setram, so now it does it on the fly.
Astra Superstars: BG color mod works on the fly now.  Haven't found anything for characters.
Groove on Fight: Changed color mod addresses and added addresses to mod sprite priority for characters/BG layers (because it's kinda hard to rip a BG layer when it's been retiled :p).

Edit:
- Scrapped the reader (RAM watch via tile mod) cheats, because they're STILL broken in newer versions of MAME, despite working in MAME-rr (it displays 0B instead of 00, 0A instead of 0B).  I decided it'd be less annoying to figure out how to write a .lua script that works for the current version of MAME (I had a workaround that worked for a game or two and then Astra Superstars completely ignored it and then I stopped caring.).  I've included a readme telling you how to make a .bat file that'll load them with MAME.
- The luas for Star Gladiator and Plasma Sword aren't currently usable because MAME won't let me load the roms through a .bat or the command prompt.
- Astra Superstars may or may not need the y values adjusted for the draw_text.  I doubled them because of MAME overlapping the lines.
- Daraku Tenshi's color mod's fixed (when did I break this?).
- Wasn't able to find an alternate way of accessing the character test for Street fighter Alpha 2 and the way I initially did it doesn't work on newer versions of MAME, so that .xml's useless.
- The .xml for Super Gem Fighter's also useless.
- Street Fighter's 3 through 3: 3rd Strike are now for the no-cd versions.
- Added Master's Fury.
- Changed the contents of the .rar.  I added a .bat so you can load a rom and a lua with the cheats turned on (this is more for ones that use lua, but you might be using a version of MAME that only loads the rom through the command prompt.) You can now drag and drop the folders into MAME.
- Just noticed the forum rolled back some of the previous edits to my posts here.

Other stuff
Spoiler: Dragoon Might (Ver AAB or JAA) - LU:05/05/17 (click to show)

- The effects being applied for "P1 sprite ripping":  Timer icon is rescaled, repositioned, and has its sprite priority changed.  P2 and both player shadows have their sprite priorities changed.  Lifebars are hidden.  Camera zoom is locked, so make sure the camera's zoomed in before you turn this on.  You can also use the cheats individually, if that helps more.
- Don't go too far to the left or right, or the timer icon will stop hiding whatever's been placed behind it.  I have something that'll lock the camera into place to prevent you from doing that.
- About P1/P2 States and P1/P2 Frames.  You should be able to rip the character's effects using this.  IIRC, you'd use states to set it to whatever, then cycle through all the frames of the state using frames with the character's animations are frozen.
- It's also possible to get the character's unarmed sprites using the always have/have no weapon cheats.
- P1 Floor Layer Y Position is so you don't have to make your character jump into the air to center them.  Increase the value to raise the ground (and them) up.  Another reason I found this is because I wasn't able to find a y position mod that worked properly.
- You may not need to use the BG layer priority codes, but they're there if you need to force an BG object behind the timer icon.
- Sounds have to be ripped in-game.
- Here's another thing about the BG layer priority codes: The game will only use a couple of them for BG objects.  Others will be used for player effects.  Random bit of semi-useless trivia. :p

- For sound ripping:
Turn on "For music disabling".
Perform a basic attack (the music should stop), then Turn off "For music disabling 1".
Go to any of the 3 Play Sound cheats, cycle through the set value range and press Enter to play a sound.
Spoiler: Survival Arts - LU:05/30/16 (click to show)

- As it turns out, P1/Frames is quite useful, once you've broken it into 2 1 byte cheats and added a Palette mod (seems the has everything in there instead of using what it needs.  I could give P1 Viper his P2 colors, despite my opponent being Hiryu).
- Hide Lifebars and Score will redraw those sprites offscreen, along with Hide (Sprite Layer) Element.
- I suggest Dantel's stage (area 7).  Hide all the BG layers, and use the black BG color mod.
- Speaking of color mods, You probably won't need to use recolor P1/P2 because of the Palette mod.  They have to be turned on before the stage is loaded, but the player shadows don't, since I went to the paletteram to find those (kinda why I didn't bother making an improved recolor P1 cheat).
- To access the option menu, select "Access Option Mode" and press Enter during a vs match.  To exit the menu, go to Exit, and press left or right.
- The Show/Hide BG layer cheats reposition where they're drawn offscreen, but don't completely hide them.  That's where the BG Layer position mods come in....
- ..Funny thing about the layer position mods though, the BG elements in the sprite layer freak out once you force those layers out of position.  Since they can be hidden now, this is a non-issue.
- The disable sound channels cheat is so you can rip a sound without worrying about the other sounds being layered over it.  You'll have to play around with it to figure out which ones to turn on/off (I suggest making a savestate before using these).
Spoiler: Time Killers (V 1.32) - LU:05/29/17 (click to show)

- The sound player can be used in the test menu.  Select a number and press enter.  Keep in mind there's variations to some of the sounds, so you should probably have some sounds play a couple times.
- Set the player limb/body colors to 15 (0x0F) if you want to rip projectiles/effects.  It's what I used to make Death green/red.
- The battle damage is usually random, so I added a code that shows almost all of it, if not all of it.  ...If you wanted to add that to your character for some reason.
- Try ripping your character on Thugg, Wulf, Musashi, Mantazz, or Death's stages.
- If you don't want deal with the color changing for the weapons/body, change the Palette of the character.  Turns out the characters have a 2nd Palette.
Spoiler: Blood Storm (V 2.22) - LU:05/28/17 (click to show)

About ripping stages:
- You can cycle through colors and reposition 54 different BG elements.  Let me know if anything doesn't work.

- I've come up with 2 sound players, because this game uses 2 bytes for sound values:  One the should play any sound, and one that sorta replays the previous sounds (it's 1 byte because of the way the game writes to this area).  You may need to hit enter a couple times to get a sound to play though.  There's variations to some of the sounds, so you should probably have some sounds play a couple times.
- I added some codes that change the players into the secret bighead characters (to try and save you from having to enter the codes).  They're probably not useful, unless you wanted to make a headswap character.
- I don't know why you'd want to make an armless character, but there's an option for that (the gore effects aren't added if you remove the limbs by repositioning them).
- Stages you probably should use for ripping character sprites: Scorch HQ, Polaria, Golem's Lair, Triax.  Possibly Golem's Lair and Inner Sanctum with some repositioning.
- Hide lifebars is kinda buggy.  Turn it on during the match.
- I added something to unhide P1 Shadow, not that you'll really need it, because he's just a recolor of Hellhound (who's a recolor/headswap of Freon).
- Set the character or BG colors to 28 (0x1C) for solid gray.
- Although I say turn on the all/no weapons codes at the character select screen, there will still be somewhat of a noticeable effect to the character if turned on during the match.  I mention this for someone who wants to remove the extra stuff to a bighead character.
Spoiler: Two Crude/Crude Buster - LU:03/23/16 (click to show)

......Because nostalgia. :p

- There's nothing for sound ripping.  But you can get all the sounds from M1.
- I found something that changes the animation to your walk to something else.  Not quite what I was looking for, but it can be used for easily ripping other animations.
- There's also another frame mod I added you could try to rip the player sprites.
Spoiler: Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors Dreams (Euro 950727) - LU:06/07/16 (click to show)

This is for ripping backgrounds (if for some reason you preferred to use your own rips).

- If you use the P2 sprite position mod, P2 will appear on the screen when you go to either edge of the stage.  This probably isn't too much of an issue, since you can reposition the layer the players are on offscreen.
- The super backgrounds are in BG Layer 1.  They'll appear as either solid colors or static images until they're used.
Spoiler: Street Fighter Alpha 2 (Euro 960229)- LU:06/07/16 (click to show)

Spoiler: Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Euro 980904) - LU:06/07/16 (click to show)

This might help with ripping backgrounds (if for some reason you preferred to use your own rips), with some ability to rip character sprites.  There's a character test in the sample version, but I haven't seen any cheats pop up for it yet.  The data displayed in the upper left is from a cheat I made to read/display those values.

- If you use the P2 sprite position mod, P2 will appear on the screen when you go to either edge of the stage.
- I found a couple of frame mods for Final Bison's BG (even though this stage was already made by Doorhenge).
- What I found to freeze the players frames is kinda useless as a MAME cheat.  It's there for you to have exact values to find for Artmoney.  I tried to make it less of a pain with something that displays the values to those addresses.  You're probably better off using Jesuszilla's Cheat Engine table, TBH.
- About reader cheats:  They're conditional tile mods (affected by the values of specific addresses) that use use BG Layer 1.  The tile mods will still work if  you use the Hide or Retile BG layer cheats.
- You may not need to use the hide or retile BG layer cheats, but they're there just in case.
- Be careful with using the hide/show BG element cheats.  They can cause issues on the character select screen.
- The super backgrounds are in BG Layer 3.  They'll appear as either solid colors or static images until they're used.
Spoiler: Superior Soldiers (US) - LU:05/29/17 (click to show)

- I suggest Stage 3 for ripping sprites (because of the recoloring section), but there's a couple other stages you can use with the hide BG cheats.
- Speaking of which, the hide BG cheats don't hide everything on some stages.  Probably because those aren't BG objects.
- Setting the P2 Palette to 1 when the freeze red BG code is on will recolor them red.
- You have to jump for the y position mods to work.  Also, make sure to freeze the Y Velocity.
- Frame Reader uses tile mods in BG 2 to read the values to P1's animation frames and display them for you.  Keep that in mind if you try to use it.
Spoiler: Jackie Chan in Fists of Fire - LU:09/08/16 (click to show)

- I was able to recolor the challenger test, but I also found something that repositions everything, so I made it so it's no longer on the screen.
- Keep an eye on your character.  Depending on where I was standing, the side of Jackie Chan's head would look look weird, despite locking the camera's zoom.
- Repositioning the character might cause some sort of "twitching", depending on where both characters are positioned.
- State Cycle may not immediately work, and there's some "states" that'll cause the game to crash (just reload the savestate when it does this).
- You might be able to get all the sprites using P1 Frames (didn't know it was 2 bytes, and can show even more frames.  Modding the direction the player faces doesn't affect the direction these sprites face.), but I'm not entirely sure on that.  You could also force an attack to stay at the 1st frame and use P1 Frames to cycle through all the frames of it.
- To 'hide' P2, set turn on Freeze P2 Animations, and set P2 sprites +256 to 0, +1 to 5, P2 Frames +256 to 0 and +1 to 2.
- Some of the stage/tile mods only work when the game's paused.  Then there's WWIW (why won't it work), which only works in artmoney when you change/freeze the value.
- "Palette?" Doesn't seem too useful, since a lot of the effects have their own Palettes.  You probably shouldn't try to rip other characters or their effects if you're not currently playing as them.
- About Sound Mod?:  Some games keep track of the previous sounds/music played.  If you know how the values work, you can use this to replay any sound you want.  I tried to do that with this.  When you first use it, it'll clear out all the values of previous sounds/music.  There'll be some values that seemingly play nothing.  I don't know if there's a function used to get them to play normally, but when you use 255/00FF (it'll play sounds 0-254), it'll play them.  The pitch is screwy and they're extremely loud.  256/0101 to 265/0109 plays music.  Do not use them, because they ignore Turn Off Music, and don't interrupt each other (you'll have multiple music tracks playing at once).
Spoiler: Blood Warrior - LU:03/08/17 (click to show)

- I made something that mods the BG tiles to show you the values to your player's state.  Use the Position Mods for BG 5 to position it into place.  I'd have preferred to use the foreground layer, but that had a 4/6 tick delay, and this has little to no delay.
- To hide the 2nd player, use the Y Position mod to force them into the floor.
- The flickering of the timer/lifebars is because they're constantly trying to go back to their default position.  I found something that hides almost everything but the 2nd player's name and something to hide it by repositioning the sprite layer.
- Stages you can try to rip the characters on: Arashi, Kinshiro, Benkei, and Goemon
- P1/P2 sprite y position lets you reposition them without forcing them off the screen.  You could probably use this to rip gethit/thrown sprites.
- The one I originally posted worked in mame-rr-0144-test0 but not mame0152b until I changed gtmr to maincpu.  Mentioning this in case it doesn't work for you.
Spoiler: Astra Superstars - LU:05/28/14 (click to show)

- There's more I need to find to this.
- I suggest Satan Volte's stage for ripping the sprites.  Aside from no special lighting affecting the characters, setting the outfit color to 1 with the color mod codes on will make them sorta invisible.  The invisibility works in Sakamoto, and Cupe's stages as well.
- I came up with something to show you what state and frame P1 is currently in.  The reason the stars are there is because the game doesn't like it when I put spaces there.
- Using the state mod comes with the same risk as using the frame mod (freezing the emulator).
- I'm not entirely sure how useful these x/y mods are.  I kept finding multiple addresses that could mod the characters position.
- The BG color mods work to varying degrees of success with the other stages, but I had Satan Volte's stage in mind when I made it.
Spoiler: WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game - LU:07/16/17 (click to show)

- My codes start at "Hide Almost Everything" downwards.
- I rescaled/repostitiond P1's lifebar.  Color mods work fine on everything but the black BG (only while emulation's paused).
- I'm not sure if I should break up my "Hide Almost Everything" code to make it easier to rip the BG.  Because they don't consistently affect the same BG elements.
- I added something to modify what frame your character's currently on.  Unfortunately, I can't modify the tiles to show you what the values are.  I made a simple .lua script to do it, but it only works in MAME-RR (no real experience with making those).  Put it in the same folder as mame.exe, create a shortcut to mame and add this to the end of it: wwfmania -lua wwfm.lua
- Play Sound +256 always sets the value of +1 to 0 because of how the memory's set up (it's complicated).  This is the only thing I could think of to break it up and let you affect both bytes.
- To rip sounds, you'll probably be using Alt Play Sound.  I don't think there's anything past 19F4 (Jerry Lawler's quotes), but I'm pretty sure there's nothing past 8000 (feel free to check if you don't mind constantly hearing loud crackling).
Spoiler: Red Earth (Euro 961121) - LU:06/07/16 (click to show)

- My codes are at "P1 X Position" and downwards.
- Sorry that this cheat's list such a mess.
- The frame/state cycle are there so you can find an equivalent in Artmoney, but you might be better off not using them.  I added something to read those values so you know what to set them to, if you want to try using that.  There's also another address that keeps track of certain states the character's in, which is why you can't set them to specific frames at will using only the frame mod.
- State Mod? might also be useless (you can force the character into their into state fine, but their attack states use the same value).
- Reposition offscreen's for hiding the win text.  The game uses some of those addresses (temporary objects), which is why there's so many of them.
- Similar reason for the cat cheats (it'll use one of those sets of address, but at least it's the same one for the match).
- What you'll want to do with the cat cheats is freeze Tessa's animations and do one of her attacks involving the cats.  If the cat's not visible, change "Cat Frames" to 0.  If it is, use "Change Cat Spriteset" to cycle through her other effect sprites along with "Cat Frames".  Normal colors is because the effect sprites won't be using the colors they're supposed to (TBH, I found this by accident).
- The camera x position mod is not as useful than the y position (it's affected by where both characters are on the screen).
- The 1st 5 hide stuff codes should consistently hide the BG.  The rest will affect other things inconsistently.  Aside from that, you can use them to hide things (Leo's sword/shield, hitsparks, etc.) offscreen.
- P1 ??/P2 ??'s usefulness is kinda dicey.  On Leo, it works ok until he goes into a nonexistent state and the game crashes, but on Kenji, it's useless.  This also applies to the press start to reset P1/P2's animation cheats.
- How to use Weapon Trail mod:

Have Kenji perform an attack with weak or medium punch.

Freeze P1 animations.  Preferably while the weapon trail effect's visible.

Set Kenji Weapon Frame to 1 to make the weapon trail effect visible on the screen.  Unless you froze the animation while it was visble, in which case skip this.

Turn on Freeze Kenji Weapon Flicker to each of the groups.  If it stops flickering, than that's the set of addresses you'll be using to cycle through his effects.

Palette's for making his weapon effects "visible" (it's probably not the actual colors, but color modding it's not an option.  Hiding the BG hides it.  Recoloring the BG doesn't affect it).

Spriteset should be self explanatory.  Use the frames to cycle beyond it to see if you can find anything extra.

You may have to reposition Kenji so his effects are visible.

You may also have to unfreeze him and have him perform a basic attack to get the spriteset to change.

- For Tessa, you freeze her cat and use the spriteset mod to see which one changes her cat into the magic circle.

Tried to make it easier for ripping Player and BG sprites.  Not sure if I succeeded.

- My cheats begin at P1 X Position downwards (stage version and p1/p2 ouftit aren't mine).
- P1 Frames is there so you can search for them in Artmoney.  I made something to read/display the values to try and make ripping the sprites easier, but you might be better off using Jesuszilla's Cheat Engine table.
- About reader cheats:  They're conditional tile mods (affected by the values of specific addresses) that use use BG Layer 1.  The tile mods will still work if  you use the Hide or Retile BG layer cheats.  UW is Use With P1 Frames, BTW.
- Try to avoid having Morrigan, or someone else who has extra effects around them as an opponent.
- About Use With P1 Frames: there's another address that keeps track of whether or not your character's in certain states.  If you don't set it to the values it specifies while you're trying to set the frame values, the game will crash.
- You may not need to use the hide or retile BG layer cheats, but they're there just in case.
- I haven't fully tested Freeze X Movement beyond it preventing Demitri from moving forward/backward.
- Be careful with using the hide/show BG element cheats.  They can cause issues on the character select screen.
- The super backgrounds are in BG Layers 2 and 3.  They'll appear as either solid colors or static images until they're used.

- My cheats are "Infinite Time" and downwards (also, tweaked the player mods so you can play as/against Super Bison).
- I've come up with 2 sound players, because this game uses 2 bytes for sound values:  One the should play any sound, and one that sorta replays the previous sounds (it's 1 byte because of the way the game writes to this area).  If you get silence, try waiting a couple of seconds.  If you still get it, turn on Clear All Sounds, and then use Play Sound (to force silence), turn it off, then try playing the sound (it's how I got #5 to play).  You may need to hit enter a couple times to get a sound to play though.  There's variations to some of the sounds, so you should probably have some sounds play a couple times.
- I suggest Dungeon or the Test BG (didn't know about the secret stages, or about "Super Bison") for ripping the character sprites (Turns out Bison's Lair sucks for it, because of the lighting effect).  On the plus side, you can now actually recolor the BG.
- I added something to force the BG tiles to something else (because the black BG is there in some form in almost every stage).  You could also use the attempt to reposition BG offscreen cheat and recolor the black BG as well.
- I sorta found a way to remove the names/bars.  Hopefully, it has no negative side effects.
- P1 Frames shows different things, depending on if you use it when the player's standing there or in the middle of an action.  P1 Frames 2 is there so you have exact values to search for in Artmoney.  They should show up in the Test BG if you want to see what you're affecting.
- Use with P1 Super Bison changes makes the charge times to his moves either extremely short or nonexistent.  Here's how to perform his moves using this cheat:

foward+punch/kick for psycho crusher/knee press
up+punch/kick for devil reverse/head press
forward, back, forward+kick for knee press nightmare
forward, back, up+kick for head press nightmare
Spoiler: Metamoqester (International) - LU:05/29/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are at Camera X Position and onward.
- Repositioning the P1 effects is tricky.  It'll reposition whatever's currently on screen, so you probably shouldn't spam fireballs before trying to reposition the charge aura.
- The hide BG cheats (tile mods) work while emulation's paused
- I was able to hide pretty much all of the final boss' effects, but there's no guarantee you'll be able to consistently hide them using these (finding what I found for P1 effects didn't work like I had hoped it would).  They should work for the other bosses too, BTW.
- Unfortunately, I can't modify the tiles to show you what the values are.  I made a simple .lua script to do it, but it only works in MAME-RR (no real experience with making those).  Put it in the same folder as mame.exe, create a shortcut to mame and add this to the end of itI metmqstr -lua mmq.lua).

- I suggest the stage called "Beast Fight" for character sprite ripping.  You'll proably have to reposition whatever isn't hidden by show/hide BG layers offscreen.
- I found 2 things that affected what state the character is in.  Try them both to see what works best for you.
- When cycling through frames/states, you may want the character to be on the ground.
- Hide Bars/Shadows/etc. may not always work.  It's because what it affects is inconsistent.

- Hide Bars/Text must be on before the stage loads.
- I may add more to it later.
Spoiler: Asura Buster - Eternal Warriors (Japan) - LU:05/29/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are "Select Stage", "P1/P2 Outfit", "Freeze P1 Animations", and the cheats below it.
- Haunted Castle seems to be a good stage for character sprite ripping (but you could try other stages, using the black BG color mod and hide BG tile cheats).  I say this because some of the BG elements wrap around, which means there will always be a part of the BG on the screen.  On the plus side, I figured out how to recolor the BG and sorta change which BG layers are shown.
- Make sure the color mod's on before the stage loads.
- I found 2 things that affected what state the character is in.  Try them both to see what works best for you.
- When cycling through frames/states, you may want the character to be on the ground.
- About Select Character PL1/PL2: If you want to play as Vebel, the code should be on at character select screen.  Dragon doesn't really work, and King sorta works with the 2nd player if you set the BG to King (Battle BG)
- Hide Bars/Shadows/etc. may not always work.  It's because what it affects is inconsistent.
- I haven't been able to find something to affect sounds yet.
Spoiler: Martial Masters (ver. 104, 102, 102US) - LU:05/28/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are "P1 Character 1" and downwards.
- The player Y position mod's pretty much useless.  This was an issue with The Killing Blade, although freezing the Y Velocity fixed it for that.  Not so much for this game.
- About the "state" and "frame" mods: That's just what I call them for lack of a better description of them. State lets you view certain animations, but doesn't give you access to the entire animation for certain moves.  Frame will give you a specific frame to a specific move, but effects/velocity/hitboxes are still active during them.  And since you need to know the exact value used for these states, I went ahead and added tile mods to display what those values are.
- Set the BG to Master Huang's stage.  Some of the cheats to hide lifebars/BG elements were tested on that stage.  You'll notice there's no stage mod, but there are 2 sets of character mod cheats.  The 1st set's the "stage mod" (P1 1st character should do it, but I added the rest just in case).  Set it to Master Huang.  The 2nd set: set the characters to whoever you wanted to rip sprites from.  They'll override the 1st set, except for what stage you go to.
- I wouldn't be surprised if the new color mods have issues with the super moves, but at least they affect things on the fly.
- Fun fact: This game also has sounds from KoF '98 (normally, Darkstalker sounds can be found in PGM games).

- My cheats are "Stage Modifier", and "Force Silence" and downwards.
- The reason there's 2 versions of the hide bg cheat is because on some stages, removing all the BG tiles causes "afterimages" of everything.  ...Turns out there's something for hiding that BG layer without the afterimages issue, so you could also use that.
- Before 1C/28 is music.  01 can force silence.
Spoiler: X-Men (4 Players ver UBB) - LU:12/01/15 (click to show)

- My cheats are "Infinite Character Select Time", "P1 X Position and downwards.
- P1 States is a bit tricky to use and can cause the game to freeze.  I'll try to explain how they work.  "P1 States 1" changes what animation set you're looking at (throws, basic attacks, etc.), "P1 States 2" is for if there's more than animation in the set (throw 1, throw 2, throw 3).
- If you want to make it easier to find and remove any of the color mods: Open the cheat file in a text editor and change any of the 7C1F's (magenta) that you see to 03E0 (neon green).  I might've gone a bit overboard with the 1st stage, because one of the BG objects shared colors with the rocks the enemies throw at you.  But it's also in case you want to make stages, and isolate animations (I probably should've organized them a lot better for that, unfortunately).
- Turn the color mods on before the stage loads.  Only animated elements can be color modded on the fly with these.
- The other set of BG color mods can change colors on the fly, but not with animated things.
- If you want to rip enemy/boss sprites, I added something that changes the players sprites to theirs (this can crash the game, because you're not supposed to be able to play as them) .  This is to make it easier for you to rip their sprites.  You'll probably have to go to the stage you encounter them in and set the palette for their colors to appear correctly.
- The Sprite Priority mods can be used to hide the lifebars and/or player sprites if you set the values just right.  Makes ripping BG things more easier (2,2,3 for Magneto's stage, for example).
- I tried to add something to mod the camera position.  The game uses 4 bytes for each position for some reason.

- My cheats are "1 Shot Almost Everything", "Most Enemies Won't Attack You", "P1 X Position", and downwards.
- The BG mods may cause the game to freeze.  Not entirely sure on that though.  I know the one that hides the BG layer for those "walk up this corridor" sections will mess up the stage graphics, should you decide to turn them back on.
Spoiler: Zero Team USA (US) - LU:01/21/17 (click to show)

- Hide BG 1-6 Remove are tile mods.  Cover fills the screen with a specific tile that can be recolored, Remove removes everything in that BG layer (in you accidentally cover the wrong BG layer).  If you turn the cheat off and move to the right enough, it'll be as if you never turned this cheat on.  6 is for lifebars/text/score/etc, but there'll be flickering because the game will keep trying to reset the tiles back to normal.
- Don't rely solely on the Sprite Layer Y Position for hiding characters (they'll try to stay on the screen).

- The 7 cheats below "P2 Outfit" are from Pugsy's cheat pack.
- The hide BG layer cheats works while emulation's paused.  I may come back to this one.
- The almost 200 hide things?  You can use them to hide (via rescaling) the players, their shadows, their weapons, their weapon shadows, and a bunch of other stuff.  There's no consistency to what they'll affect round to round, so you may wanna make a savestate and jot down which ones affect what.
- I added something to modify what frame your character's currently on.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to modify the tiles to show you what the values are.  I made a simple .lua script to do it, but it only works in MAME-RR (no real experience with making those).  Put it in the same folder as mame.exe, create a shortcut to mame and add this to the end of it: gaxeduel -lua gad.lua
Spoiler: Killer Instinct (v1.5d) - LU:07/16/17 (click to show)

- The cheats from Infinite Character Select Time down to Freeze P2 Animation Time are mine.
- You won't be able to get all the animations using this, and some values may cause the game to crash.
- Play Sound +256 always sets the value of +1 to 0 because of how the memory's set up (it's complicated).  This is the only thing I could think of to break it up and let you affect both bytes.
- Haven't figured out how to all of hide the effects, but what I found's a decent start.
- Use the effect animations with the animations and animation frames so you can rip them easier.
- Despite my using magenta for the BG color, you'll probably want to use black so you don't have to worry about the shadows, and BG color bleeding into the sprites (this doesn't stop it, it minimizes it.).  I found something that kinda affects it, but I don't think it makes the sprites look like they should.  I may come back to it.
- The player color mods are so you can separate effects.  The black color mods (some characters might not have to use these) are so you can rip the character against a black BG (won't have to remove the shadows or worry about too much about the edges of the character bleeding into the BG.
- The color mods only affect the default outfit colors, which is why there's a cheat to force both players to use it.
- The position mods are the way they are because the values are 4 bytes.
- The camera zoom uses values from stages where the camera's closer to the players.
Spoiler: Killer Instinct 2 (v1.4) - LU:07/16/17 (click to show)

- The cheats from Infinite Time down to Combo Breaker Now! PL2 are from Pugsy's cheat pack.
- If you want to "hide" the rest of the lifebars, you'll have to use Artmoney and search for HTML color values at integer 3 bytes.
- Play Sound +256 always sets the value of +1 to 0 because of how the memory's set up (it's complicated).  This is the only thing I could think of to break it up and let you affect both bytes.
- You won't be able to get all the animations using this, and some values may cause the game to crash.
- Use the effect animations with the animations and animation frames so you can rip them easier.
- The animation frames increase by every other frame.
- The stage isn't completely hidden by the floor, so stay away from the edges (it's the Sky stage, you'll probably want to stay away from edges anyways).

- My cheats are Stage Select (Vs) and downwards.  Also, I also tweaked the player mods because they weren't working in vs mode.
- Set Ballroom repositions all the BG elements that aren't being recolored off the stage and repositions the floor.  You may have to turn it off then on after recoloring the BG (it has the afterimage thing mugen has when there's nothing in the BG).
- The BG Thingy cheats can affect the characters as well, so be careful.  You should be able to rip almost everything from the vs stages using them.  Not sure about the mission mode stages.
- You can sorta play mission mode stages in vs mode using the mission mods, but I wouldn't recommend it.
- With P1/P2 frames, you can cycle through all the sprites.
Spoiler: Guardians of the 'Hood - LU:05/09/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are Select Stage and downwards.
- Turn the hide lifebars cheat on before the stage loads.
- The BG mods also affect the players/enemies on certain stages.  They don't consistently affect the same thing.
- The hide BG cheats won't hide everything (maybe everything else is objram/sprram objects).
- If you want to play as an enemy/boss, turn on the outfit mod cheat before the stage loads (maybe I should've tried to do this with a color mod).  The colors will revert back to the character you selected, so don't die.
- The gym opponent mod will probably affect other stage enemies, but their colors will probably be messed up.
- The character mod's proably the easiest way to get the character to display their proper colors if you're using the OBJ sprite mod.
Spoiler: Judge Dredd (rev LA1, prototype) - LU:05/29/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are Starting Stage Modifier and downwards.
- Turn the recolor shadows cheat on before the stage loads.
- To use the stage modifier, select where you want to go and press enter during the mission briefing.  If it's a bonus stage, you can jump to it by pressing 1P start.  Values are off by 1 because the mission briefing increases it by 1 after it's done.
- I didn't really bother with Player X/Y/Z beyond the 1st area of the 1st stage, because I couldn't find anything that works to rescale the sprites.
- To hide the bosses bars:  Lower the screen, raise the floor.  The cheats I found that are supposed to hide the bars didn't work.  Same with the ones for recoloring the floor.
Spoiler: War Gods (HD 10/09/1996 - Dual Resolution) - LU:05/10/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are everything but infinite time.
- This is very incomplete at the moment.  You can hide the lifebars, shadows, and Stage 2 BG.  You won't be able to use this with Grox or Exor.
- You have to have Cy-5 as the 2nd player if you want to use the boss stage recolor cheats.
- Play Sound +256 always sets the value of +1 to 0 because of how the memory's set up (it's complicated).  This is the only thing I could think of to break it up and let you affect both bytes.  Also, you'll probably want to use with with a newer version of mame, or go into the cheat file and change :DCS:DCS2 to whatever your version of MAME names ADSP-2115 data space memory.
Spoiler: Battletoads - LU:05/11/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are "Access Character Test?" and downwards.
- The Character Test is currently kinda useless.  I had to use cheats so I could cycle through more than just Robo Rat's walking animation.  It's in there for someone else to try making it more usable.  Be careful when using this, because where you're at in the game can affect its appearance.
- P1 Sprite 1/2's kinda useless.  It's there so you can find it in Artmoney.
- Alt P1 Sprite 1/2 has some use.  Turn on Freeze P1 Animations and make a savestate before using it, because it'll sometimes cause the game to crash trying to access non-existent sprites.
- How to cycle through the sprites using Alt P1 Sprite 1/2: Set Alt P1 Sprite 2 to 0, increase Alt P1 Sprite 1 until it gets to 255, then press the delete key to set turn it off (so you're jumping back to 0), and increase Alt P1 Sprite 2 by 1.  If you want something to use the proper palette, try using P1 Palette, or going to the stage where you'd normally encounter it.
- Turn on the color mods before the stage is loaded.  The 2nd ones don't have to be turned on, unless you want to try ripping player sprites from stage 1 (the lasers share colors with player/enemy effects though).  The reason they're broken into individual color channels is because of how the addresses are set up (they all end with 0 or 8).  Haven't tested them beyond stage 1, though.
- The color values to this game are weird, BTW.  The value for magenta in this game is 3F003F.
- Fun fact: There was a boss battle that was scrapped from the game.  You can see elements of it by either using the stage modifier to access the area it was supposed to be (colors are messed up, but you can see Santa dangling from above), or cycling through sprites with Alt P1 Sprite 1/2 (you'll see Admiral Oink and Santa's sprites).
- About X/Y/Z Position mods: If the value increases by 1, try keeping it at a low value.  The one that increases by 5 is the one you'll want to mess with.
Spoiler: Spectral Vs. Generation (M68k Label V100JP)(ARM label V100JP, ROM 05/12/05 S.V.G V100)(Japan, JAMMA PCB) - LU:05/11/17 (click to show)

- Infinite Time's the only cheat I didn't end up having to search for.  It was from www.mamecheat.co.uk/forums (didn't know how to do it at the time).
- Turn the color mods and Hide Hide Most Of The Things cheats on before the match starts.
- I suggest Orochimaru's stage for ripping character sprites.  Go to the left side, because I couldn't hide that thing that the BG character keeps tossing into the air.
- Hide Most Of The Things has some side effects, but should otherwise work.
- 1 of the 2 P1 character mods won't affect what stage you go to.  The other one does.
- P1/P2 Sprite Cycle's more useful if you can find an equivalent for it in Artmoney/Cheat Engine.  You can get other animations to play if you mess around with it after freezing it during an action.  I broke it into 2 1 byte addresses so you can try to get some use out of it.  You may need to look at what values the character's using through the debugger or Artmoney though.
- Position mods sorta work if you freeze the player animations.
- To give the players the white palette my color mods can affect, set the palette to 6.  You'll also have to freeze their animations to stop them from periodically jumping back to their normal colors.
- There's some stage mods in there for people who want to rip stages.
- The sound player uses 2 byte values, but you shouldn't have too much trouble getting the sounds you want.  You can't go to the test menu and play the sounds there, unfortunately.
Spoiler: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time (4 Players ver UAA) - LU:12/01/15 (click to show)

- My cheats are "Freeze Bomb Timer P1" and downwards.
- I probably mixed up what's Y and Z position.
- "Leo is Now..." is so you can get the other turtle sprites without having to play as them.  "Leo's Palette" is if you wanted to combine all of them into 1 turtle.
- To turn the BG/lifebars a solid color, use "BG Color?" and "Recolor BG To...".  Remember that this doesn't remove the bars, so try to keep from going too close to the top of the screen.  You don't have to worry about this, now that you can use the sprite priority mods to force the lifebars/borders behind the BG layers.
- The enemy spawner's not perfect, but does what I intended it to (spawn enemies/bosses at the start of the stage).  My using the 4 byte values is kind of a shortcut.  The enemy/object values are actually 1 byte, along with the values that force the enemy to spawn.
- Drawbacks to the enemy spawner: After you spawn something and kill it, you have to move onto the next enemy slot to spawn another enemy.  Also, bosses/certain enemies must be spawned on the stage you encounter them in for them to have the correct palette.
- Don't spawn too many enemies, or the game will slowdown/have difficulty drawing sprites (like what's happening in the screenshot with the 28 Shredders).
- Rahzar and Tokka can only be spawned as a pair, and in that order.
- You probably won't be able to spawn all the boses at once.  Some of the enemy slots get reserved for effects/projectiles.
- Super Krang and Cement Man have graphical issues with the spawner, unless you try to overwrite an existing enemy on the screen.
- How to use Leo's/Enemy State A/B:  You'll want to use B more than A (Example: To get Leo's attacking states you set A to: 03 and B to either: 10, 11, 12, 13, and so forth).  It may take a couple seconds for the player/enemy to be forced into the state you want them to be in.
- Be careful with the enemy position mods (Leo's worked ok at 2 bytes, but notsomuch for the enemies), because the enemies will despawn if they're positioned too far off the screen.
Spoiler: Avengers In Galactic Storm (US) - LU:05/13/15 (click to show)

- My cheats are "Hide Bars/Lock Camera" and downwards.
- Show Debug Info probably won't help at all, but it's not something you normally have access to.
- Hide Bars/Lock Camera is buggy, but should help with making it easier to rip sprites.  I may eventually replace it with a color mod.
- A lot of the X position mods to the BG elements didn't want to work, so I left them out for now.
- Don't try to use Galenkor in Story Mode.  You're not really supposed to be able to play as him.
- It might be easier to Freeze the player's animations and cycle through the frames using P1 States (P1 Frames is supposed to cycle frame by frame, but doesn't work when the animation time is frozen).
- Cycle Through P1/P2 Animations is there in case you can't get anything with the previous cheats.  It'll force the player to cycle through various states.  It has different results, depending on what you're doing before turning the cheat on.

- How to use P1 Frames A/B to rip sprites:

Turn on Freeze P1 Animations.

Set P1 Frames A to 0

Cycle through P1 Frames B from 1 through 255, then press delete on your keyboard to reset to off

Set P1 Frames A to 1

Cycle through P1 Frames B from 1 through.....until the sprites screw up, then press delete on your keyboard to reset to both of them to off.
Spoiler: Burning Rival (World) - LU:03/23/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are "Infinite Stage Time" and downwards.
- The X position mod is the way it is because the position mods I found used 4 bytes for the values.
- The Y position mod's currently not very useful.  I haven't figured out how to force the character to other states/frames when they're off the ground yet.  You'd probably be better off using freeze Y Velocity instead.
- P1 State Frames A/B can let you cycle through frames to other states, but it can change based on what state the player's currently in.  Try to have them in walking or standing states.  Also, placing the character in some of their gethit frames will cause the screen to shake, despite them not actually being in a gethit state.
- Jump Dust can be used to hide the dust, or to get all the frames to it.
- About P1 State Frames A/B: You'll be using B mostly.  A makes the value jump by 256 each time you increase it.
- One of the addresses in Hide Bars/Shadows/P2 hides the bars/p2 as a side effect of setting the values to 0.  The others are in there in case I have to find another way of hiding those things.
Spoiler: Rampage: World Tour (Rev 1.3) - LU:05/18/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are "P1 State Frames A" and downwards.
- There's no frame/state mod because what I found didn't seem useful (you can freeze them into a state and possibly cycle through the frames, but only if they're already in that state and if you're using something like Artmoney to adjust the values more precisely).
- The mods I found that should only affect George can also affect the other 2, but only if you're playing as one of them.  If more than one of them's on the screen they'll be hidden by hide almost everything.
- Also, V.E.R.N.'s wings can get hidden from Hide Almost Everything.
- Not sure if I should break up hide almost everything because it's 451 addresses.  If someone wants to rip BG stuff from it, I'll do it.
- I added something to modify what frame your character's currently on.  Unfortunately, I can't modify the tiles to show you what the values are.  I made a simple .lua script to do it, but it only works in MAME-RR (no real experience with making those).  Put it in the same folder as mame.exe, create a shortcut to mame and add this to the end of it: rmpgwt -lua ramwor.lua

- Alli's stage is probably your best bet for ripping characters (no flickering animated BG elements).  Choose him with 2P.  You don't need to turn on all the Hide BG cheats.
- Speaking of, they're to try and make it easier to rip the BG stuff.  For some reason, repositioning BG elements works differently with this game (I can move things in large slices), so I went with tile modding to try and hide everything.
- Turn the shadow color mods on before the stage loads.
- Freezing the Y Velocity can cause some weirdness with the sprites.  I wouldn't recommend using it, actually.

- My cheats start at Recolor Player Shadows/Black BG Color To... and downwards.
- I came up with a way to show you the values you need to set P1 states to.
- Turns out View Different Types Of Game Info was the Dipswitch C settings.  It lets you view hitboxes/axis, player and ai info, and slowdown the game.  It might do other stuff too.
- I suggest Mozard's stage for ripping character sprites.
- There may some twitching from the players when you put one of them into the air.
- This is more for ripping characters, I didn't fully look into the BG stuff.  There's some position mods for the layers, but I haven't tried to affect the parallax in stages.
Spoiler: Martial Champion (ver EAB) - LU:04/24/17 (click to show)

- My cheats start at Recolor Most BG Colors To... and downwards.
- To "hide" P2: Turn on Freeze P2 Animations, Set P2 Action Frame to 0 and P2 States to 50.  That should do it.
- Not sure about values for freezing the Y Velocity.  They seem to work ok.
- I might've overdone it with the color mod (doesn't seem like it, but you never know).  Let me know if something got recolored that shouldn't have.  Also, they won't work on all the stages (Avu, Chaos, and Titi, I think).
- The game will crash if you set the action frame value too high (trying to access a non-existent frame).
- The game may crash if you switch characters during the match.  The cheats are there for seeing what your character would look like with other character's colors (like in the screenshot).
- The game may also crash when using the state mod to switch between states.  I suggest making a savestate and reloading before using this.  Unless it's past 75, reloading the savestate should make the state animation play proper.  Assuming you're not trying to access a non-existent state, in which case it'll still crash and you should increase it to the next value.
- You'll notice there's 2 player state mods.  P1/P2 States 1 mods just the animations.  There will be some color issues with some of the effects.  P1/P2 States 2 applies things like hitboxes, velocities, and color effects.
- I wasn't able to find all the BG items for repositioning (found something that lets you change the sprite priority, so you could try shuffling the layers around).  Some of position modes don't work with some stages.
Spoiler: Mighty Warriors - LU:01/27/17 (click to show)

- My cheats start at Stage Select and downwards.
- P1/P2 States is annoying to use, and I'm not even sure if it's the right one.  Anyways, what you'll want to do is make a savestate before the screen fades in, and use it there.  The character will go into the state, but will have no velocity applied to them.  Use freeze P1 animations if you're not able to rip the sprites fast enough.  I should probably make it so the pre-match never ends.
- Jump dust is for the jump states.
- P1/P2 Frames is also kind of annoying to use, and can't be used with freeze P1/P2 Animations.  If you set it past the amount of frames the state has, they'll go into the frames to their other states.  Problem with this is velocity still gets applied.
- Turn the color mod on before the stage is loaded.
- Hide Bars/Timers (mostly) works best when you pause the game.  So, you'll be using this and going frame by frame to rip the sprites.
- There's some stage position mods in there, but they're kinda pointless to use.  The parts of the BG wrap around at the borders (with a small gap between the ends), so you can't reposition things off the stage.
- If you're not using it before the match starts, P1 States won't cause visible changes to the player if they're in a standing state.  You have to make the player enter a non-standing state.
Spoiler: Knuckle Bash - LU:12/10/15 (click to show)

- My cheats start at Extra Characters Available At Start and downwards.
- P1 Frames cycles through the playable character frames, but not the enemies.  I'll have to come back to it later.
- Sprite priority is set it to 64/100 for the min value because it was 86/134 on the 1st stage.  Set it too low, and the character is drawn behind all the BG layers.  Set it too high, and they're drawn over their effects.
- The upper and lower torso are treated as separate things (Palettes for both) for the players.

Spoiler: Ultra Vortek (World) - LU:09/19/15 (click to show)

- Not sure what the resolution/snapsize should be to this, honestly.  I've only been able to get Project Tempest to run it, and that doesn't seem to have a screenshot function.  You're gonna wanna mess around with mame.ini's settings with this.  Try setting keepaspect and unevenstretch to 0.

- If you you have Ultra Vortek (World).j64, rename it to ultravor.j64 and put it in the rom folder.  You're also gonna need a file named jaguar.zip that contains jagboot.rom and jagwave.rom, so find that and add it to the rom folder.  Rename ultravor.xml to jaguar.xml and put it in the cheat folder.  Then, in command prompt, add a variation of this:

cd C:\mame0165b && mame.exe jaguar -cart roms\ultravor.j64

You could also copy/paste it into a text file, save it as whatever.bat, and double click that to load the game every time.

- The game will crash if you set the P1/P2 Frame value too high (trying to access a non-existent frame).  In fact, you probably shouldn't use it unless you have to.
- P1/P2 State Modifier? was something I found before Frames 2.  You could probably use it to access fatality frames, but it's kinda buggy and I haven't fully tested it.
- I was gonna add a color mod, but it's actually far easier if you use Artmoney/Cheat Engine to hack MAME so that it changes the black BG to whatever color you want.  It's just one 32-bit address, unlike the color mod that has 34,817 64-bit addresses to color mod every single pixel on the screen......and balloons the size of the cheat file to over a megabyte......AND SLOWS THE GAME TO A CRAWL if you leave it on.
- P2 CPU is for 1P mode, because you can't play 2P mode, even though the controls for the 2nd player work once you use it to stop the computer from controlling the opponent.
- Player Floor Y Position and Hide BG 1-64 are for stage ripping.
- Speaking of stages, the last 4 in the stage select aren't supposed to be stages, yet you can play on them. :\
- To rip player sprites: turn on Freeze P1/P2 Animations, and cycle through all the sprites using P1/P2 Frames 2.

Recoloring with Artmoney:

Search for FFE2FBF3FFE1FAF2 (brightest color to the text/numbers) at integer 8 bytes.  It'll probably be the 1st address on the list.  Once you find it, press insert to copy the address/bring up the edit address window and to the right of the + button enter -1E3ECH into it and click the + button to subtract 123884 from the address.  Press ok.  You should now be able to recolor the black BG.

- About the checkpoint modifier: if you set it too high, you'll hear the "pre-stage music" unique to the character you selected while not going anywhere.  Keep lowering/raising it until you end up near the boss.
- Color mods should work.  In some stages, there's flickering (goes away if you pause emulation).
- There's 2 sets of addresses for repositioning the BG layers/Bars, and affecting their sprite priority.

Spoiler: Street Fighter III: New Generation (Euro 970204) - LU:06/07/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are Recolor Black BG To... and downwards.
- About P1 Color 1-A/1-B": You'll probably use 1B (1-A was just in case).  It'll let you cycle through the effect colors of the current players that are active (you could give Ryu Sean's colors, for example).  The colors won't change if the player's animation is frozen.
- You could reposition everything offscreen and recolor the black, BG, but it seems easier to show the super BG and recolor that.
- About P1 Sprites (+256)/P1 Sprites (+1): I broke it into 2 for easier navigation.  To use them to rip sprites, first freeze the player animations, use +256 to see who you want to rip sprites for (Gill's located at 0-3, for example), and use +1 to cycle through the sprites (press the del key to reset it back to 0).
- If you want to try ripping sprites, but don't want to deal with putting the layered sprites back on, you could try using the P1 States, Use With P1 States (UWP1S8, because I wanted it all to be consistent in length), and P1 Frames cheats to try and rip the frames.  I made some tile mods that can read those addresses and tell you the values to them, so you know how they change.  You'd probably be better off doing it with Jesuszilla's Cheat Engine table, TBH.
- Shadows can be repositioned off screen with the sprite position mod.

- My cheats are P1 Color 1-A... and downwards.
- I suggest Necro's stage for sprite ripping.
- The hide lifebars cheat will flicker anytime something happens that causes the tiles to change, but that's not really an issue if you're going frame by frame while emulation's paused.
- You could reposition everything offscreen and recolor the black, BG, but it seems easier to show the super BG and recolor that.
- About P1 Color 1-A/1-B": You'll probably use 1B (1-A was just in case).  It'll let you cycle through the effect colors of the current players that are active (you could give Akuma Sean's colors, for example).  The colors won't change if the player's animation is frozen.

Spoiler: Tattoo Assassins (US Prototype) - LU:10/11/15 (click to show)

- My cheats are Stage Select and downwards.
- I don't know if you'll be able to get all of the sprites using P1/P2 Frames, but it's a good start.
- The player Y position mods are the way they are because 0000 isn't at the top of the screen.
- Freeze player animations affects BOTH players (if you wanted to rip Prism's sprites, but didn't want to deal with the constant color changing, this also stops that).
Spoiler: Primal Rage (Version 2.3) - LU:01/23/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are Stage Select and downwards.
- I treated 48 objects like a character and tried to find all the modifiers you'd search for for them.  Why?  Because initially, what I thought was P1 X/Y, Scaling, Y Velocity, States, Animation Time stopped working when I went into another stage.  I suggest making a savestate and setting the scaling to 0 until your character disappears, then jot that down, and rescale everything but them.  They'll also affect things like players, player shadows, BG elements, name graphics, heart, and brain icons, and the followers.  Good luck.
- You might be better off repositioning the followers offscreen, because you can't completely shrink them (the specks in the screenshot on the ground are followers).
- P1/P2 states usefulness is kinda dicey.  It'd probably be more useful if you used it with Artmoney/mame-rr's RAM search (jot down the 2 bytes hexadecimal value to the state you want to rip sprites from).
- The timer will flicker occasionally.  I don't think there's much I can do for that, unless I go poking around atarigen_alpha32_w some more.
- I suggest stage 3, but you have a couple options.
- You'll want to use "Change BG tiles" to set the BG to a solid color so you can use the BG color mod.
Spoiler: Suikoenbu/Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty (JUETL 950314 V2.001) - LU:04/30/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are Stage Select and downwards.
- I suggest Shishin's stage for ripping character sprites (mostly because I know everything gets recolored by the BG color mods).
- Lock Camera Zoom will mess up the stage if you turn it off.
- P1/P2 Y Offset is to try and get around not being able to hide the specks that appear with the player shadows (if they can be recolored, the addresses that affect them aren't in stv_vdp2_cram_r).
- P1/P2 Frames won't get you all the sprites, but it's still useful.  You can cycle through the frames to a state, and try to get more sprites by increasing the value beyond where it was supposed to end.  If Freeze P1 Animations didn't work against it, you probably would've been able to get even more.
- P1/P2 is useful if you know the state number.  I tried to mod the P1's score to display those values (they're not tiles, because you can actually reposition them though).
- I found something to replay previously played sounds (a sound player seems like it'd be more trouble than it's worth ATM.).  I'm not sure how much the values actually increment, so I have it set to 4.
- Lock Camera Zoom will cause stages to get messed up, so don't use it to try and rip stage sprites (there's better cheats in there for that :p).
Spoiler: Ragnagard/Shin-Oh-Ken - LU:01/27/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are Stage Select and downwards.
- The color mods work that well with Syuten-Dozi and Lucifer's stages.
- Floor Position is so you can hide 2P offscreen without having to worry about the camera zoom (it doesn't zoom if you go too high up.  Don't know how to lock it yet).  Also, some of the effects have weird X/Y offsets compared to the players.
- You'll be able to get all the player sprites with Frames +256/+1.  Play as the character you're interested in ripping for best results.
- For ripping effects, use P1/P2 Current 'character' (for ripping effect sprites) to access them, P1/P2 Palette to try and make the effects use their proper colors, and P1/P2 Frames to cycle through them.  You could also try playing as Lucifer, and trying to cycle through them that way.
- Hide Bars/Timer must be turned on before the lifebars appear.  Hide Portraits must be turned on after.  They won't work right in round 2.  Credits and Battle Level (which can be hidden in the soft dip settings) will still be there, but is affected by the color mod.  Keep that in mind, should the character be too close to the bottom of the screen.
- The sound player uses 2 byte values, but you shouldn't have too much trouble getting the sounds you want.
Spoiler: Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa (ver EA) - LU:05/28/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are Freeze Hurry Up Timer and downwards.
- The Sprite and frame mods isn't totally useless, but I wouldn't rely solely on them to get the sprites you need.  What you'll want to do is change the spriteset to what you want, freeze the animation, and cycle through the frames.  For trying to get more Part _ Frames can sorta change what the current animation is.
- Stop Andrew Timer's there so you don't have to deal with the hurry sound or Andrew trying to kill you.
- Sorta Hide P1 Part _ Via Rescaling is named such because there's still a speck onscreen of what the sprite should be.
- Part 1 is the player's weapon, Part 2 is their legs, and Part 3 is their body.
- The BG Layer mods aren't very useful, because everything wraps around.  You should probably try to use them to reposition things obscuring the view.  The Bars and Sprite layer mods will at least hide those things, and there's the sprite priority cheats which you can use to shuffle around the bg layers.
- I didn't see a color mod for the black BG color.
- The enemy position mods probably aren't all that useful (you have to pause the emulator and increase the Y position value to over 256), and you'll probably end up despawning the enemy by placing them offscreen.
Spoiler: Night Slashers (Korea Rev 1.3) LU:11/28/15 (click to show)

- My cheats are Recolor Black BG/Shadows To... and downwards.
- To rip the sprites, turn on Hide GO Icon, Hide BG 1 and 2, adjust Hiding/Showing Sprites so only your player's sprites are visible, change the Black BG color to whatever you want, turn on Freeze State (use with Alt P1 Frames), and cycle through the frames using Alt P1 Frames.  You may also use P1 X and Y position to adjust their position.
- Enemy/boss sprites may only display correctly on the stage where you encounter them on.
- Hiding/Showing Sprites can make it easier to rip BG stuff.
Spoiler: Bucky O'Hare (Ver EA) LU:04/01/17 (click to show)

Dont' know if it's facing the correct way. :\

- My cheats are Recolor Black BG/Shadows To... and downwards.
- You can probably get most of what you need with the sprite/animations mods.  The animations sometimes get stuck, so try using For Sprite Modifier to try and fix it.  Otherwise, you'll have to mess around with the character until it plays the animation.  The Char/Tile Palettes are for trying to get sprites to display correctly, or at least enough to where you can recolor them properly.
- Enemy/boss sprites may only display correctly on the stage where you encounter them on.
- I'll have to come back to the color mods, but I tried to make it so you can recolor everything or just certain layers (no color mods for shadows, unfortunately).  The 1st 2 will affect some enemies, so keep that in mind if you want to rip enemy sprites.  Also, animated BG elements will still be visible until the game's paused.
- Reposition Everything's to make it easier to rip character sprites, and the position mods below it are for removing individual things to get BG objects (even though you could probably use the sprite/animation mod to get those).
- To use the scrolling mod, set both to Stop, then turn on whatever want to apply scrolling to.  You won't be able to play the game normally using this.  It's for trying to get BG stuff.
Spoiler: The Simpsons (4 Players, World, set 1) LU:12/10/15 (click to show)

- My cheats are Jump To Stage... and downwards.
- These will not work on mame-rr, because of the color mods (you can't access bank0000 or bank2000).
- The reason there's 2 stage mods is because I couldn't get the stage mod to work like I wanted it to at first.
- You can probably get most of what you need with the sprite/animations mods.  The animations sometimes glitch, so reload your savestate to try and fix it.  The Palettes are for trying to get sprites to display correctly, or at least enough to where you can recolor them properly.
- Enemy/boss sprites may only display correctly on the stage where you encounter them on.
- BG layers will get messed up if you try repositioning them horizontally.  I tried to work around that with something that forces it to continue moving forward as you walk.
- I couldn't find a position mod for the sprite layer, but I found something that applies velocity to them, causing them to get repositioned.  Whatever works for making it easier to rip BG stuff, I guess.
- Freeze P1 Animation isn't a tick mod.  It's the idle timer (before the character say/does something).
Spoiler: Metamorphic Force (ver EAA) LU:04/01/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are Recolor BG 1 To... and downwards.
- I didn't have any luck with removing the BG Layers (you can't reposition them offscreen.  They wrap around at the edges).  You can recolor almost everything (the light effects and stained glass in the final stage will still be visible).  I didn't see anything to affect the shadows (recolored every address in colorram).
-  Hiding the text layer sometimes affect the BG (I know it does for the final boss area).
- The portrait can be hidden using Sprite/P1 Portrait X Position.
- P1 Frames isn't as useful as I'd like it to be.  You'll probably want to try using both of P1 Actions.  Set +256 to 0, then increase +1 until the character becomes discolored or goes into beast mode, then set it to 0.  Increase +256 by 1 and then increase +1 until the character becomes discolored or goes into beast mode.  Repeat until you can't do it any more.
- Boss names are from Gamefaqs/Track list in M1.  I don't know the enemies actual names.
- Enemies/bosses spawned using the spawner may only display correctly on the stage where you encounter them on.  It can be trickier for some bosses (if you spawn Death Shadow before you fight him, he'll be using the wrong Palette, despite using the correct addresses.  On the plus side, you might be able to rip his effects a little easier.)
- Enemies spawned using the spawner may be initially stuck.  Use actions +256 and +1 to try and fix that (set +256 to 0, +1 to 1 or 2, and then press the delete key on your keyboard to both of them to turn them off so they don't stay stuck in those states).
- The action mods may not get you all of their animations (intro for Skeleton Night, for example).
Spoiler: Star Gladiator (USA 960627) - LU:04/24/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are - My cheats are Rescale P1 Shadow Textures and downwards.
- I wasn't able to find the black BG color, but I found the color to P1's shadow textures.  So I color modded some of those and found something to rescale them so they cover the screen.  Mostly (P1 can't go too far offscreen, and those textures I recolored all have to be present)
- Attempt to Freeze Camera doesn't completely stop the camera from affecting the players.  Fortunately, you can position mod P2 offscreen by forcing them through the floor.
- I don't know if anyone wanted to make stages from this, but I found something that hides almost all the BG stuff (there's still 1 or 2 things that're on the screen).
- There's 2 Y position mods because increasing the value causes the players to go downward.
- There's 2 P1 Frames +1 because some states have values ending in 4,C and some 0,8 (I know some gethit frames use this).
- You're really gonna want to use savestates if you're gonna rip the player animations.  I also suggest taking a snapshot of the 1st frame to the player's standing animation if you have to reposition them to rip sprites to other states.
- The frame mods will cause the game to freeze when: trying to access nonexistent states, the frame at the end of an animation, frames that are inaccessible because the value to other addresses wasn't set to the correct values.
- P1 Frames +1 should actually increase the value by 8, but some actions have values that are multiples of 4.
- The limb scale and position mods were part of an unfinished attempt at something to force the character into custom poses (there's addresses around them for rotating and pivoting the limbs).  Currently, you can try to hide your character's parts/weapons for whatever reason.  They also were all tested with Hayato, which is why the parts are named the way they are.
- I added something to show you the values to states/frames.  It has a 1-4 tick delay in it.

- How to use the frame mod cheats to make it easier rip stuff (because I couldn't find a reliable way to make the values to the addresses appear on screen):

You'll need the values to P1 Frames +1/256, Use with P1 Frames, and For Gethit States?.  There's 2 ways you can go about this (3 if you use the RAM Search, but you'll be able to see the values to all the necessary adddresses with these 2)

1. Easy way (MAME and Artmoney/Cheat Engine):  Pause the emulator and set values from P1 Frames +256 (use 0,8.  It's easier to follow because the values will be a multiple of 8 in decimal) down to For Gethit States? to 8.  Search for it in Artmoney/Cheat Engine.  Set the values to 0.  Filter for that.  Repeat this until you get 5 addresses.

2. Not as easy way (MAME's debugger).  First you'll have to go into mame.ini go down to # CORE DEBUGGING OPTIONS and set debug to 1.  After that, the debugger window will pop up when you start the game and interrupt it.  Press Ctrl+M to create a new memory window (or click Debug/Create A New Memory Window), click back on the debug window and then click Debug/Run or just press F5 to get the game to run like normal.
That new memory window you created?  You're going to use that to see what the values you need to set the cheats to.  So when you're ready, pause the emulator during a state you want to rip frames from (The values don't change in real-time if the game runs normally.  They'll change as you go frame by frame while emulation's paused), click on the memory window and click Options/1 Byte Chunks, then click on the box that has 0 in it, change it to 2742C4, and press enter to go down to that address in the memory (make sure PSX CPU 'maincpu' program space memory's in the right drop down box.  If it isn't, click on it and set it to it).  That brings us to this pic:

The value highlighted in red is to P1 Frames +1
The value highlighted in green is to P1 Frames +256
The value highlighted in light blue is to Use With P1 Frames
The value highlighted in yellow is to Attempt to Freeze Frames (you'll be setting it to 01 or 00)
The value highlighted in magenta is to For Gethit States?

The value to P1 Frames +1 is A0, which means you'd use P1 Frames +1 (0,8).  You'd then decrease the value to P1F+1 until you get to the 1st frame of the animation (you may have to decrease P1F+256 by 1, set P1F+1 as high as it can go, then decrease the value.  You do this every time you have to mess with P1F+256).

The values in the screenshot get us this:

- My cheats are Attempt To Freeze Camera and downwards.
- I didn't have any luck with hiding the BG elements (I may look into it later).  Was more preoccupied with character stuff.
- The X and Z position mods don't lock the character into place, Attempt to Lock P1 Movement tries to fix this (there's some things you're not able to do, but this shouldn't be an issue because of the frame mods).
- The frame mods will cause the game to freeze when: trying to access nonexistent states, the frame at the end of an animation, frames that are inaccessible because the value to other addresses wasn't set to the correct values.
- I might've missed some of the weapon animations.  Not sure.  Either the colors are now too subtle to see the changes, or the weapons that were animated in Star Gladiator are no longer animated in this game.

Refer to the explanation in my Star Gladiator notes, except 307F18 is what you'll be using instead of 2742C4.  Also, everything seems to have values ending in 0 or 8.  Everything should be in the same spots.

- My cheats are Change BG Layer 1 To Color Moddable BG and downwards.
- I suggest Stage 1 for ripping character/effect sprites.  Repositioning the Lifebars won't result in the screen being covered by the 2 planets you see before the stage starts.
- The Palette mod doesn't seem to be needed for the most part.  It's in there for alt-palettes.
- For some enemies/bosses, you'll have to go to the stage you normally encounter them in for the sprites to have the correct colors, though.
- Some parts are separate (Blodia's Arm and Shoulder Cannon, for example), and will need to be manually reattached (you can't just use the frame mods on them, because their positions change during the actions). You'll also have to reposition the parts offscreen from the body, so they're not in the way of ripping things.
- You could try using the hide tiles to remove the shadows, but I know recoloring them's not an option (recolors their body as well).
- I wasn't able to find something to color mod the black BG.  I found something that changes the BG layers into something more easily color moddable, so I went with that (less colors to find is good).  If you see something that wasn't affected by the color mod, use the BG X/Y Position mods to move it offscreen.
- Effects can actually be separated from the character using the hide tile cheats, for the most part (in the screenshot, there's supposed to be an effect there).
- This game has an axis/hitbox viewer too.  It also doesn't send you to the test menu.
- The camera mod (I think it's the camera, anyways).  Is so you can reposition the character without having to worry about progressing through the stage.
- Using frame mods: Ex. Set +256 to 0.  Make a savestate first (just in case) Set +254 to 0, and increase by 1, ripping what you need along the way.  Once you hit 254, press delete to go back to 0, and set +256 to 1.  Do this until you rip all the sprites you require, or the game crashes because you tried to access nonexistent frames.
Spoiler: Dungeons and Dragons: Tower of Doom (Euro 940412) - LU:02/08/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are Select Starting Stage and downwards.
- There's actually an object test for this game, but I haven't been able to access it.
- For some enemies/bosses, you'll have to go to the stage you normally encounter them in for the sprites to have the correct colors.  For some bosses, you don't have to be in the area you fight them to get the correct colors, just the stage they're on.
- You might not need to use the Palette mods, but it's there just in case.  B turns on A.
- I wasn't able to find something to color mod the black BG.  I found something that changes the BG layers into something more easily color moddable, so I went with that.  If I missed anything, use the BG position mods to reposition it so you can't see it.
- Attempt to Hide Bar Layer is because in some stages, repositioning the bars causes something else to appear that obscures the screen.
- Effects can actually be separated from the character using the hide tile cheats, for the most part (in the screenshot, he should be wearing a cape).
Spoiler: Touki Denshou -Angel Eyes- (VER. 960614) - LU:02/24/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are Stage Select and downwards.
- Modding Frames to a character is a little tricky.  I added something that'll tell you the values to the character's frames to try and make it easier (had to break up the hide tile mods so those tiles aren't constantly hidden though).  The tile mods work while emulation's paused, so you can change the frame values and see what they're being changed to there.
- Credits won't get hidden unless the game's paused (wish there was a position mod for that layer). :\
- About the frame mods: When you reach the end of an animation, 2 things will happen either the game will crash (best case.  Just increase the value to the next one, and you should be at the 1st frame to another animation if it does that), or the game will slow to a craw (worst case.  Keep trying to do a soft reset with F3, increase the value, and hope it doesn't happen again).  On the plus side, you may find some unused stuff in there.
-  I added a BG color mod (probably won't work as well for the other stages, but it work's on Raiya's) because Layer 1 couldn't be completely repositioned offscreen (neither can the other ones, but it's more manageable with the position mods).
- Y Position causes the player to go down into the ground.  Freeze Player Y Velocity should work as long as you only do a neutral jump (the value it should be at causes the player to twitch in the air).
Spoiler: Gaia Crusaders - LU:02/28/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are Most Enemies Die In 1 Hit and downwards.
- Most Enemies Die In 1 Hit may or may not cause some issues with the game.  I made it a conditional because having it always on crashed the game at stage 2.
- You should be able to get what you need using the frame mods (not sure on bosses though).  Might need something more for effect separation (color/tile mods?).  You may want to use savestates with this.
- I haven't tested these beyond the 1st stage.  You might be able to get these
Spoiler: Shadow Force (US Version 2) - LU:04/24/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are Stage Select and downwards.
- You may be able to get what you need using the frame mods.  It could involve going through the entire set, because it doesn't seem the spritesets are all grouped together.
- Certain characters may also cause the game to crash, because you're not supposed to be able to play as them.  You also have to start the stage with them to get them to use their colors/possessed colors.  The character mod might cause the game to crash if you try using the bomb or possessing the enemy (I added something that makes the game think you're possessing an enemy).
- The enemies can be turned into player characters, but killing them causes you to get stuck where you currently are.
- The hide bars/text cheat will hide "credits" when emulation's paused.
- TBH, I haven't tested these beyond the 1st stage. :p
Spoiler:  Light Bringer (Ver 2.20 1994/04/08) - LU:05/09/16 (click to show)

I couldn't decide which screenshot to use, so I went with all of them.

- My cheats are Stage/Room Modifier and downwards.
- Round/Room/Scene modifier is so you can get the correct Palette for boss/enemy sprites.  You'll probably be using the Round/Room modifier.  Round probably doesn't need to go above 3.  Don't know about scene.  BTW, this all comes from using the Taito code to access the Screen Editer, and seeing my Stage/Round modifier was only affecting the Room values.
- The reason the enemy mods don't have the values for the players is because it causes your character to dash attack uncontrollably.
- The EXP cheat gets you to lv 9 eventually (you have to kill enemies/grab items to level up).
- Hide Text/Lifebar Tiles won't hide the Push Button text unless emulation's paused.  There's also something in there to reposition the player icon offscreen.
- You probably won't use the enemy mods to rip their sprites (maybe the position mods to hide some of the bosses), but I added it in there anyways.  Also, not all the enemies are in there, and setting the player to the enemies may cause the game to crash (usually, you'll become a CPU controlled enemy).
- Try 46/47, or 48/49 for effect Palettes.
- The color mods for the shadows might not always work.  Maybe I should find more.
- You'll probably go through the entire spriteset to find some of the character's other sprites (ending/player select screen sprites are separate from gameplay sprites)

- To rip character/enemy sprites:

1. Set the current character to none (this is so you can use the Palette mod.  It also hides the P1 icon).  Don't use it before the stage loads.

2. Turn on Hide Text/Lifebar Tiles, Freeze P1 Animations and Y Velocity.

3. Hide the BG layers with Show/Hide BG Layers.  You could also use the BG position mods to reposition the stage offscreen, and then use the position mods to place the player back onto the screen (X and Z).

4. Use P1 Frames to cycle through all the sprites and Palette to try and get the correct character/effect colors.  You may need to be in area you normally encounter them give them the correct Palette.
Spoiler:  Knights of Valour/Sangoku Senki (ver. 117) - LU:05/28/17 (click to show)

How dare you are by standing in my way.

- My cheats are Stage Select and downwards.
- Enemy Test probably is the best way to go for ripping enemy/boss sprites (you can reposition the boss offscreen.  Just don't choose the final boss, because he can make the screen go black).  1st menu lets you choose what enemy accompanies the boss and how many of them, though I haven't been able to get more than 1 to show up (is there a trick to it?).  2nd screen chooses the boss, their game difficulty and their grade (do they get more attacks if they're maxed?).
- Character sprites won't have perfect axis if you use the frame mod (some effects won't get their axis repositioned).
- Repositioning BG 2-15 sprites will cause them to be rescaled.  That's because 1 1/2 bytes affect the BG position.  The other 1/2 byte affects the scale.
- The item mods have entries that are just numbers.  That's because I don't know what they're used for in the game (there's a few items that give you resistances, open secret areas, affect certain abilities for other characters, or are used against enemies).  Never played the game before. :p
- Hide Bars/Text works best when the emulator's paused.
- Don't use Use With Item Mod by itself.  If you give yourself 8 item spaces, but haven't picked up any items/used 8 item mods, the game will give an error message.
- Certain things won't take affect when you freeze player/enemy animations (frame mod still works).  Just turn the cheat off, wait for the affects to apply, then turn it back on when that happens.
- The sound player uses 2 byte values, but you shouldn't have too much trouble getting the sounds you want.
Spoiler:  Knights of Valour 2/Sangoku Senki 2 (ver. 107, 102, 100HK) - LU:05/28/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are Stage Select and downwards.
- Enemy Test probably is the best way to go for ripping enemy/boss sprites (you can set it so you fight either 1 enemy or 1 boss.  Or no enemies/bosses.).  1st menu lets you choose what enemy accompanies the boss and how many of them (actually works).  2nd screen chooses the boss, their game difficulty and their grade (do they get more attacks if they're maxed?).  Also, it seems to give you more debugging info than the previous game.
- Depending on what state you freeze the animations, character sprites won't have perfect axis if you use the frame mod (some effects won't get their axis repositioned).
- I should've looked into hiding the item icon.  It can be recolored for now, just keep in mind it's there if you want to rip things (you might be able to use the sprite layer position mods to get parts of the BG it's obscuring).
- Some bosses have effects attached to them, and the sprites for them can be found cycling through the frames.  The position mods should take care of that, but they have the same problem the BG position mods have
- Repositioning BG 2-24 sprites will cause them to be rescaled.  That's because 1 1/2 bytes affect the BG position.  The other 1/2 byte affects the scale.
- Hide Bars/Text works best when the emulator's paused.
- Repositioning BG 2-24 sprites, and player/enemy effect/weapon sprites will cause them to be rescaled.  That's because 1 1/2 bytes affect the BG position.  The other 1/2 byte affects the scale.
- The sound player uses 2 byte values, but you shouldn't have too much trouble getting the sounds you want.
Spoiler: The Killing Blade (v.109, Chinese Board) - LU:05/28/17 (click to show)

I redid this.  It could be better, but compared to the 1st go at it, it's an improvement.

- My cheats are P1 Swap in P1 Partner and downwards (also redid Select P1/P2 power, because they weren't working).
- To use Play Sound, both players should be Jinlun (upper right corner) because they don't make any noise during their taunt, and there's no noise on their stage.  You may also have to use Max Sound Volume (the sounds have different volumes) to hear them.  I tried to get it so you could do this on the Test Menu, but you couldn't hear any of the fight sounds/voices.
- The first character P1 picks decides what stage you fight on in Vs Mode usually.  I suggest Long's stage, because I know most, if not all of the codes will work there.
- BG 1's kinda difficult to hide offscreen, so I found a tile mod to outright hide it.
- P1 Frames won't get you sprites with perfect axis, unfortunately.  It's a Polygame Master thing.
- P1 Swap in/out P1 Partner is to get around the screen darkening/Lord Wizard's intro.  Not that it really needs it now.  If you see a shadow stuck on the stage, try swapping a couple of times.
- The color mods may be affected by supers/Lord Wizard's Intro, but not to the point where they stop working (I went into the paletteram for these).
- The Players/Camera/BG Layer Position? mods are labeled as such, because I found those poking around for something else.  They have their uses (you'll want to use the BG Layer to try and hide the "Other BG Layer" objects).
- Speaking of BG Position mods, use these only to remove things from the screen.  1 1/2 bytes affect the BG object's position and a half byte affects the scaling of the object.
- Other BG position mods are more annoying to use, but it seems it's the only way you can get the rest of the BG layers (I haven't been able to find something that consistently affects them).  How they work is whenever something is no longer on the screen, the cheat will no longer affect it, and instead affect the 1st thing that fills it's spot.  Something like that.  Anyways, the Palette mods will show you what they affect, and their affects should cease when you turn the cheats off.
- The hide bars/tiles cheat will cause the game to crash if the screen changes (low health/time).
- Cycling through the player sprites, you'll be able to find projectiles/effects, but they'll be discolored because they use their own Palette.  Try using the Palette mod.
- The sound player uses 2 byte values, but you shouldn't have too much trouble getting the sounds you want.
Spoiler: The Gladiator/Road of the Sword/Shen Jian (M68k label V101)(ARM label V107, ROM 06/06/03) SHEN JIAN V107 - LU:05/28/17 (click to show)

- AFAIK, I don't think anyone found any cheats for this.
- I don't know how well it's going to work (it's imperfect), or if you'll be able to get all of the sprites with this, but to cycle through player frames, turn on Attempt To Force P1 To Cycle Through All Their Frames, Freeze P1 Animations.  Set P1 Frames +256/+1, and P1 States? (Enemy Test) to 0.  If the game doesn't give you an error, you should be able to cycle through the frames using P1 Frames +1.  When you hit 255/xFF, highlight the cheat and press delete to set it back to off, set +256 to 1, and then resume cycling through the frames using P1 Frames +1.  Do this until you get an error.
- I was gonna find mods for the other 8 or 9 enemies, but then I found the enemy test for this game, so that shouldn't be necessary.
- Some of the sprites with the weapon affects won't display the correct colors.  If you see an incorrect color that's a solid color (like all magenta or blue), try performing the action to make the proper color appear, pause the game, then set everything up to rip the sprites.  As long as you don't exit the state (won't matter if you're using Attempt To Force P1 To Cycle Through All Their Frames), the effects colors will be set to the current effect.  Otherwise, you can use the Palette to get the proper colors to display.
- Attempt To Force P1 To Cycle Through All Their Frames was something I found while looking for an action mod, because the frame mod wasn't working like it did in Knights of Valor.  It'll cause the game to freeze once you reach the "last frame".
- Some enemies will come with additional sprites layered over them.  Reposition them offscreen before using the cheats, then rePosition them onscreen (the layered sprite won't follow them until you unfreeze their animations).
- The Bars/Text won't stay hidden unless you pause the emulator.
- The BG/Other BG mods will rescale the affected object as it's getting rePositioned (because a half byte affects scaling, the other 1 1/2 bytes affect position).
- Other BG mods are inconsistent in what they affect.
- You probably won't need the scaling mods.  I just threw it in there just in case.
- The sound player uses 2 byte values, but you shouldn't have too much trouble getting the sounds you want.
Spoiler: Oriental Legend/Xi You Shi E Zhuan (ver. 126) - LU:05/28/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are "Area Mod" (I didn't find the stage mod.  I changed it from select starting stage), and downwards.
- No enemy test stage this time around.  You'll have to use the enemy mods if you want to rip their sprites.  Hopefully, what I found is enough to do that.
- This has the same issues some of the other PGM/IGS games have (no perfect axis cycling through frames, position mod for BG/Other BG is 1 1/2 bytes with half a byte affecting scaling, Other BG is inconsistent with what it affects).
- I didn't make a big list of addresses for Other BG mods.  Not that it would've helped hide the mist in some of the stages.
- The sound player uses 2 byte values, but you shouldn't have too much trouble getting the sounds you want.
Spoiler: Rabbit (Japan) - LU:04/28/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are "Vs. Stage Select", and downwards.
- I suggest Wu-ling's stage for ripping the character sprites.
- I may have to look into this some more at some point.  I couldn't find anything to change the character's Palette to any of the others, but it doesn't appear to be too much of an issue (you have to be playing as the character you want to rip those sprites from).  You can rip the characters and effects separately, but they won't initially line up perfectly.  You could use the alt position mods (affect where the character sprite is drawn) that align the character sprite to the effect, but not the other way around (it's optional.  You can probably just align them in Fighter Factory).
- Another thing about using the sprite mod: Beyond the initial character spriteset is other sprites for the characters (didn't look too much into it, but I saw gethits).  Make sure to check that so your character doesn't end up missing some sprites.
- You could also use the state and frame mods to rip the sprites, too.  Just keep in mind that trying to access nonexistent frames will cause your character to disappear, forcing you to reload your savestate.  Also, your attacks will hurt the opponent,
- The Always Zoom In cheat still has some slight scaling going on if your character goes far enough away to trigger it.  Not sure if it affects the character, but I saw it affect the BG.
- You'll have to pause the emulator before ripping characters/BG stuff, because the lifebars/some of the BG tiles won't stay hidden.
- The BG Position mods aren't that useful, since everything wraps around.  I ended up making something to retile BG layer 1 and a color mod for that.
- You're gonna want to reposition the characters and camera further up, because the shadows will affect the character sprites, despite being recolored.
- The sound modifier affects your attack sounds, so switch it to a value and perform a basic action.
Spoiler: Cute Fighter - LU:05/28/16 (click to show)

I probably wouldn't have bothered with SD Fighters if I knew all the characters from it were in this game. :p

- It wasn't in the cheat pack I last downloaded, so I went and found all of these myself.
- The X/Y Position mods may actually be more than 2 bytes.  It still works as intended, so I'd rather make a cheat that forces you to a set position.
- I suggest Tiger's stage (1st player decides the stage 1st time).
- Despite having access to all the character's sprites through the sprite md, you should actually be playing as the character you want to rip, so there's no color issues (Palette's only there in case effect sprites don't display properly).
- Other BG's for hiding the BG layer/shadows.
- I couldn't find something to hide the bars (besides the hide tile cheats...) so I decided to color mod them as a workaround.
- Speaking of the Hide Tile cheats, I don't envy anyone who wants to rip backgrounds from this game.  BG 1 and 2 shouldn't be too bad, but the rest need to be hidden tile by tile.  The Hide Tile cheats (which affect the BG, the characters, the lifebars, among other things) won't consistently affect the same tile (moving the characters is enough to cause the game to shuffle around what address the tiles you wanted to hide are located at).  This isn't even all of them, BTW.
- No clue what "Use with Color Mod's" actual use is.  I just know without it, you'd have to pause the emulator every time you wanted to rip a frame so the tile/color mods could take effect.
Spoiler: SD Fighters (Korea) - LU:05/28/16 (click to show)

The Street Fighter Alpha 1 to Cute Fighter's Street Fighter Alpha 3 (less characters, different stages, Liger's not selectable by normal means).

- My cheats are "P1 X Position", and downwards.
- No clue what "Use with Color Mod's" actual use is.  I just know without it, you'd have to pause the emulator every time you wanted to rip a frame so the color mods could take effect.  You may still have to do that if you want to use Hide Timer 2 (hides tiles, but only while emulation's paused).
Spoiler: PuLiRuLa (World or Japan) - LU:08/09/16 (click to show)

TBH, I only did this for people who want to make stages from it.

- My cheats are "Freeze Death Timer", and downwards.
- There's something for the ripping P1 character, if you wanted to make them.  If there's interest in the other characters, I'll look into getting mods for them.
- Get both versions and use the Japan one for ripping stages (World version is censored).
Spoiler: Monster Maulers (Ver EAA) - LU:06/04/16 (click to show)

This is for ripping backgrounds.

- My cheats are 'Hide' Player Shadows, and downwards.
- You have to use Attempt To Reposition Hide Bars/Text Offscreen and Hide Bars/Text to hide the bars.  This is because this game has multiple bars layered on top of one another for some reason.  Also if the credits are above 0, you'll either have to pause emulation for the tile mods to work, or use the no credits cheat.
- The black BG can be recolored, but currently not through cheats.  You have to use MAME's debugger to do it.  If you made an .ini file, go to # CORE DEBUGGING OPTIONS, and set Debug to 1.  When you start your game, the deubg window will interrupt.  Press F5 to run the game.  When you're ready to change the color, click the deubg window and press Ctrl+M to bring up a new memory window.  Click on the drop down menu and select K054338 Mixer/:k054338/0/m_regs.  Press Ctrl+1 to set display the values as 1 byte chunks.  Click on the 1st 00 in row 00.  You can now edit the values by typing them in.  For magenta, you'd set it to this:

1st FF is red, 00 is green, and 2nd FF is blue.  You're going to have to do this frequently because the game checks to make sure they're set to 00.  You could always use these to do exact value searches in Artmoney.  Also, the shadow colors are in there.  Set those to 00 to hide them.

Spoiler: Violent Storm (Ver EAC) - LU:04/24/17 (click to show)

This is for ripping backgrounds.

- My cheats are Stop 'Go' From Appearing, and downwards.
- I haven't found a way to recolor the black BG yet, but I found something that changed the Palette of the BG/Sprite layers.  Hopefully, I didn't recolor something used by a later stage (doesn't seem like I did).
- You may have to pause emulation for Hide Bars/Text to work.
Spoiler: Jackie Chan: The Kung Fu Master - LU:09/08/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are Turn off Music, and downwards.
- There's no stage mod because what I found wasn't working right.  Use the secret character cheats to go to those stages (despite what the description says to them, they work).
- I haven't been able to find anything yet for hiding the Lifebars aside from repositioning the sprite/bar layer (same reason I can't reposition layers 3/4 for this and Jackie Chan in Fists of Fire: Barely works in Artmoney, but not as a MAME cheat).  Maybe a MAME update will fix this sometime in the future.  You'll have to use the Y position to force the character into the floor if you want them centered on the screen.
- Locking the Zoom may not prevent your character from being rescaled if you move then far enough for camera to zoom out.
- Repositioning the character might cause some sort of "twitching", depending on where both characters are positioned.
- State Cycle may not immediately work, and there's some "states" that'll cause the game to crash (just reload the savestate when it does this).
- P1/P2 Sprites/Frames may cause the game to crash on certain values (just go to the next value and reload the savestate and when it does this).
- You probably don't need sorta hide P2, since you can force them into the floor beyond where the camera can see them.
Maybe I should just break the tile mod cheats up for specific stages.
Spoiler: 64th. Street - A Detective Story (World) - LU:06/09/16 (click to show)

There's something familiar about this...

- My cheats are Stage Select, and downwards.
- You'll probably be able to get all the player and enemy sprites using P1 Sprites.  All the player sprites aren't together though, so you'll have to go poking around a little farther ahead.
- The shadows are the same color as the players.  That's why there's no color mod for it.
- You'll have to go to more than one stage for other enemy/boss sprites.  And for the sprites to have the correct Palette.  On the plus side, you should be able to reposition the enemies offscreen and get their sprites uninterrupted.
- You probably won't need to use Hide Bars/Text because of the position mod for the Bars, but if you do use it, emulation must be paused for it to work.
- As for the BG: The position mods will snap the BG back to where it should be when you turn them off (you might be able to rip the BG from the start of the stage).  The tile mods that hide the BG layers, don't do that, so you'll wanna make a savestate before using those.
Spoiler: Silent Dragon (World) - LU:06/14/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are Stage Select, and downwards.
- I may have to come back to this one for stage ripping.  That's not to say you can't do it now, but I think there's more I could find for it.
- The shadows are part of the character.  The shadow color mod is for the shadow that appears when you jump.
- The black BG will try to turn back to it's original color when the camera moves.  Also, for some reason, there's a bunch of addresses for it.
- You'll probably be able to get all the player sprites using P1 Animations/Frames.  Enemy sprites will probably be trickier because they interrupt your attempt at forcing animations to play any time they change states.
-  Attempt to force enemy 1-5 into standing state should be set to 8, but it could be another value for some enemies, which is why it's adjustable.  Once you do that, enemy animations should let you cycle through all their animations, and frames should let you force specific frames to display (freezing the animation time doesn't help with this, which is why there's no freeze animations cheat).  The "last" frame might not actually be part of the animation (Not-Jagi kept trying to run at me, so the "last" frame was his running animation).  You could also hit the enemy to try and force the animation to play (the enemy shouldn't die if the standing state cheat is active, or if your hit isn't a knockdown).
- Currently, the enemy mod might only be useful for separating the last boss from his hover platform (Palettes might only be available when that enemy is spawned onscreen).

I like that most of the characters can turn into anime cutscenes.

- My cheats are P1 X Position-A, and downwards.
- I went overboard with the stage ripping cheats.  If you want to just rip the character, set Show/Hide Bars/Text/BG Layers to 48, and press enter on Hide BG 1-8 (Tile mods.  Leaving them on slows the game down because of how many addresses they affect), and turn on the Hide BG element cheats until you only see your character.
- Using the sprite mods, you can get player, enemy, BG, and effect sprites.  Not all of the player sprites are grouped together.  You'll also want to try the later stages for enemy/boss sprites, because you fight the bosses again near the end.
- The player position mod cheats are the way they are because the values are 4 bytes.
- About ripping the character: The best choice currently is to get them as close as possible to the bottom of the screen (haven't found something to force them to stay at the same scale no matter where they are, and the cheat I did find doesn't really work that well in Artmoney, and is useless as a MAME cheat).  Use the Camera Y Position cheat to force the screen to be centered on them (careful not to go too far up or down, because the emulator will lock up).  Set Enemy 1-8 States to 0, and force them offscreen with the cheat below that.  After that, freeze animations and set both P1 Sprites to 0 and increase the value to +1 to cycle through their sprites.  If you want to rip enemy sprites, use Palette +1 to cycle through the colors until you find theirs (you have to actually encounter them in that stage for their Palette to be in there).  The Palette will change every multiple of 16, unless it's a BG/Effect sprite, then it'll change like normal (not sure what the Palettes used in 256-511 are for).  If you want to rip effect sprites (I suggest taking a screenshot so you can see what the colors to it look like) turn on Use with P1 Sprites, and the sprites that looked garbled with vertical lines through them should now display properly as BG/Effect sprites.
- For the Hide BG Element cheats, I just went with whatever works, so some cheats use position mods, others scaling mods.

Spoiler: D.D. Crew (World, 3 Players) - LU:06/21/16 (click to show)

"Long time, no see...forever!"

- My cheats are Freeze Idle Death Timer, and downwards.
- No sprite mods to access all the sprites, but you can use state and frame mods to get what you need from the characters.  Enemies might be trickier though (you may need to use a savestate), because they'll try to continue doing their thing despite being locked in a state.
- The BG mods could use improvement, but you might be able to get something from them.  The layer mods could probably be used to rip BG layers from the beginning of the stage.
- The Palettes seem to offer more varieties for colors for the enemies.
Spoiler: Schmeiser Robo (Japan) - LU:06/18/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are Stage Select, and downwards.
- I suggest Stage 1 for ripping characters (you can use the retile cheat to hide everything that can't be hidden by the hide BG cheats).
- No sprite mods to access all the sprites, but you can sorta use the state and frame mods to get what you need from the characters.  If you try to access a nonexistent frame, the game graphically glitches.  If you try forcing the character into another state while they're in any state but standing, the game crashes.
- The Hide BG cheats won't work if they're on before the match starts.
- You probably won't need to straighten the parallax if you keep the characters in the center of the stage, but there's a cheat for it.
Spoiler: Ninja Clowns (08/27/91) - LU:06/21/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are Stage Select, and downwards (changed the Infinite Health cheats so that they work correctly).
- The shadows, most of the bar at the top share colors with the character.
- About ripping sprites: It's a little tricky to rip sprites with these, but it seems you can get pretty much everything.  If the axis to the sprites starts jumping everywhere as you increase the frame value, reset it to 0, and increase the sprite set value until you see area around where you wanted to rip the sprites and then increase the frame value.  That should fix it.
- You're also gonna want to repositon them off the ground, because I haven't been able to find something yet to hide the shadows (can't recolor them, because they share colors with the character).
- There's no BG position mods because removing the BG causes that afterimage effect you get when you have a stage with nothing in it in MUGEN.
- The Palette works when you encounter the enemy you want to rip sprites from.  Or you could just rip the sprites, and fix the palette afterwards.
- The color mods have to be turned on before the stage loads (3 bytes, like with Battletoads.  Good thing I made notes on how to find those color values).
Spoiler: Vamf x1/2 (Europe) - LU:07/15/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are "Infinite Transformation Time P1" (because any cheat that involves you transforming causes you to get stuck in a transformation loop until you either turn them off or freeze the timer), and downwards.
- The 1st P2 portrait sprite mod starts at 250/FA because FAFE (+256-250/FA, +1-254/FE) is the value you should start at for ripping sprites (increase until 255/FF for both, turn off +256 and then use the alternate one until you get to 026F).  You'll be able to get pretty much all the sprites with this (plus some unused stuff).  The axis won't be perfect to the player/enemy sprites though (it's because there's something that takes care of that in-game).
- If you want to rip BG stuff, I tried to find something for that.  Not perfect, but considering you can use the sprite mod to rip BG sprites, it shouldn't matter too much.

Spoiler: Tao Taido (set 1) - LU:01/19/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are P1 Play As B.Chung, and downwards.
- This game doesn't have 1 address that controls the timer or hide the bars.  It has 1 among multiple other addresses within a certain range.  So I came up with something to try and fix that as best as I could.  Conditionals triggered by the number of credits you have (2 bytes, so I can use 2 1 byte conditionals).
Spoiler: Kaiser Knuckle (Ver 2.10 1994/07/29) - LU:08/02/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are Stage Select, and downwards.
- Was more in the mood to make it easier to rip characters/effects (you should be able to get pretty much all their sprites/effect sprites/hitsparks), but you can probably rip BG things (initially, I only had X position mods.  Found the Y positions looking around it with more persistence).
- The parallax/linescroll effect is handled kinda different for this game: there's parts on the screen where the effect is applied.  Meaning, you can actually rip the floor without the parallax effect on it if you simply reposition the BG layer someplace where the effect is no longer being applied (increase the value until it loops around) because of this.  It's why the Y position mod for layer 2 had a question mark on it at first.  I didn't realize what was going on.
- I tried to break up the hide BG cheats for BG layers.  Anything that's not hidden can probably be repositioned offscreen using the sprite layer position mods, because it's an object.
- You should be playing as the character you want to rip sprites from.  If they have any sprites unique to their stage, you should also be fighting on there (General's intro, for example).
- Not sure what Freeze BG is doing, but it was in the same address range as the hide Power Bars/Timer/P1/P2 and behaves just like them (counts down from FFFF if you set the value to 0 without freezing it).
- The player X position mods may seem like they don't work at first, but you have to increase the value high enough to where the player is considered on the stage.  Yeah, the game freezes if they are too far out of bounds.
- About P1/P2 Palette: Not sure if there's another address for modding it, but if you increase the value too high, the player sprite's priority changes.  This isn't an issue if you've hidden the BG, but I thought I should mention it just the same.
- Getting everything into an easily ripable state takes some setting up first.  Here's what you do:

Go to whatever stage you want (I suggest Wulong).  Set the color mods of the player shadows/black BG to whatever you want.  Turn on cheats Freeze BG? and downwards (you may wan to turn off Hide BG once the background is hidden, to stop the slowdown caused by so many addresses getting written to).  Turn on Hide P2 (or P1), Freeze P1 Y Velocity and Freeze P1 Frames.  Make a savestate, and increase the value to P1 X Position until the player's on the screen (If you picked Wulong's stage, this probably won't be an issue).  Mess with the P1 Y Position mod or Sprite Layer Y Position mods (mess with +1 1st then +256).

After you do all that, Set P1 Sprites +1 to 0.  Mess with P1 Sprites +256 until you see your character's sprites.  You may have to go 1 before where their sprite shows up in +256 and increase +1 to get to where their spriteset actually starts.  If you see effect sprites, increase the value to P1 Palette until it either displays the correct colors or you can more easily apply the correct colors afterwards.
Spoiler: WWF Superstars (Europe) - LU:01/26/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are Recolor Black BG To..., and downwards.
- Freeze __ Animations doesn't immediately work.  You can either turn it on, and perform an action to try and freeze the player, or perform an action and turn it on in the middle of it.
- The recolor shadows cheat will affect Honky Tonk Man's hair, and possibly some other things (soles of boots).  It's mostly in there for people who hate characters that have shadows attached to them.
- For grabbed/thrown sprites: You'll notice as you cycle through frames, the player you're using has almost all the opponent's grabbed sprites in there.  The colors to opponents you're not currently facing won't display correctly, but the player/opponent can be hidden using the hide tile cheats.  Keep in mind the cheats may be inconsistent in what they affect (because of tiles moving about the screen), but whatever changes you make are visible while emulation's paused and will be undone when you turn off the cheat.
- Be careful where you're at onscreen, because the rope/turnbuckle can block the view (I can't hide them, so I recolored them).  Also, the camera flash color mod also affects the referee.
- The hide BG/FG cheats may not hide certain things unless emulation's paused.
- I suggest making a savestate before doing this.  The game crashes if the characters are positioned too far offscreen.
Spoiler: Dragon Unit/Castle of Dragon - LU:10/04/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are Stage Select, and downwards.
- You could probably get every enemy/boss using these, but you should probably play on the stage you encounter them on to get the correct colors.
- BG ripping might be a pain though because of the sprite objects scattered about the stages.  I say might, because of object ?'s side effects when you reposition it (other objects/enemies won't spawn, stage's boundary gets broken).  I may come back to it if someone really wants to rip a stage.
Spoiler: Power Instinct (USA) - LU:09/17/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are Recolor Black BG To..., and downwards (someone probably found Access Other Menu From Test Menu).
- Don't know if someone else found the other menu in the Test Menu to this (I know someone did for PI Legends), but you can mess with debug dipswitches and a sound test.
- It's possible to rip all the sprites/effects, but they won't have perfect axis from the looks of it.  The game probably has something that controls where the sprites are drawn to.
- Also, you'll need to be playing as the character you want to rip effects from to get correct colors.
- Palette won't work if the animations are frozen.
- While going through the sprites, you'll run into sprites early on that'll cause the game to glitch up/reset.  Make a note of them, because if you're using MAME-RR, the emulator may crash when trying to load certain savestates.  Also, there may be some player sprites that aren't grouped in with the initial set.
- I may need to add more Hide object cheats, because I didn't check beyond a couple of stages.

- Fun fact: For converting PI1 to PI2, most of the cheats just needed an adjustment to the addresses.  For converting PI2 to PIL, I just needed to copy/paste almost all of the cheats.  The parallax cheat's the only thing that needed adjusting.
Spoiler: Groove On Fight - Gouketsuji Ichizoku 3 (J 970416 V.001) - LU:9/29/16 (click to show)

- My cheats are Stage Modifier, and downwards.
- I don't know about effects, but you can get all the player sprites with what's in here.  Axis may not be perfect though.
- Position mods don't seem to work with Remi's helper.  Sprite mods do.
- I suggest Remi/Popura's stage for ripping charcter/effect sprites.
- I haven't been able to find a tile mod or something for the BG layers that simply shuts them off.  I may have to come back to that for the sprite layer.
Spoiler: Ninja Masters - haoh-ninpo-cho - LU:05/22/17 (click to show)

- This is focused on ripping character sprites.  I'll proably come back to this when I can make cheats that affect the videoram (either there's a way to do it that I don't know of, or MAME isn't able to do it yet).
- Character sprites aren't all grouped together.  You'll probably have to go digging around to get everything you want.  Non-character sprites may have a color that's not correct if you try using Palette to try and get it to use the right colors (usually it's the white color).  You can also rip the weapons without the flickering effect using this.

- I suggest Bonus Game ? or Fuuma's stages for ripping sprites.
- The hide bars cheat forces the match to the intro state (if it weren't for the sound mod in there, you'd keep hearing the audience).  Turn it on before the stage is loaded.
- The Hide BG cheat takes affect when you cause the camera to move (also, sometimes it doesn't work right).  It'd probably be best you turn it on before the stage loads.
- The Hide BG Objects cheat may not work consistently, so make a savestate at the character select screen if you want to play it safe.

Spoiler: Fighter's History (World ver 43-07) - LU:06/20/17 (click to show)

- My cheats are "Access MX-18 Editor (doesn't work?)" and downwards.
- MX-18 Editor is in there in case someone wants to try get it to work (might've been a OBJ viewer, but I'm basing it on the OBJ viewer not working in Karnov's Revenge).
- If you want to rip backgrounds using the hidden menu, you have to reposition the bg layers so you can see them (try 0,0 to start, and go from there).  They're positioned offscreen.
- I suggest Ryoko, Matlok, Samchay, Clown, and Karnov's stages for ripping sprites.  Mostly because I know the Hide Tile cheats will hide the player shadows on them.  P1 should probably be Ray (mostly because the color mod's specifically for him and his weakpoint sprite.  Also, there doesn't seem to be an issue with hiding his weakpoint sprite with the cheat.  The player you want to rip could be 2P, and Palette would give you access to their colors.).
- You can either recolor the timer, or try to hide it using the hide tile cheats at the bottom.
- Disabling the parallax stops the floor layer and the BG sprites in the floor layer from scrolling.  You should probably turn it on at the start of the match, where the players are at the center, and the floor layer's a rectangle.
Spoiler: Karnov's Revenge/Fighter's History Dynamite - LU:01/12/18 (click to show)

- My cheats are "Stage Modifier" and downwards.
- You've got 2 choices for how to rip sprites: in-game or through Hit.Gen. (OBJ.Gen. doesn't work) in the secret menu.  It's a bit tricker if you use the menu though.  I tried to make it easier.
- The Hide Bars cheat uses the stage transition to hide the bars.  You have to increase the value to the highest value.
- Repositioning the floor horizontally sorta works.  You have to use the alt y position to make the floor appear at the top.
- The Hide BG Objects cheat may not work consistently, so make a savestate at the character select screen if you want to play it safe.
- The text/border can't be tile modded because I don't know how to access the videoram using cheats (can do it in artmoney and through MAME's memory editor though).  So make sure you don't move what you want to rip around them.

- My cheats are "Recolor Black BG" and downwards.
- It'd probably be best for you to try and rip the character sprites on the victory screen (freeze event timer will prevent the screen from changing).
- Stage/character colors change from match to match.
- Attempt to force silence only works with music.
- If you want to rip backgrounds from this....good luck.  Almost everything's an object (probably not accurate, but this'll give you a better idea of what I mean: it's like if you used helpers to make a BG in MUGEN).

- I couldn't figure out a way to make PGM2 games play specific sounds yet.
- There's probably a bunch of redundant cheats in there for hiding/repositioning the BG.
- Values are 1 1/2 bytes for the BG positions and Palette.  Don't be surprised to see some of those cheats overlap each other as a result of that.
- You should be able to get most of the character's sprites with what I found.  There's some non-existent frames before you reach the end of the spriteset (gethits are usually around the end) that'll make you unable to see the rest of the sprites.  When this happens, reload your savesate.

- My cheats are "Jump To Next Chapter" and downwards.
- I couldn't get a stage mod to work yet, so I'll have to look into that eventually.
- I didn't bother with making it easier to get sprites during the scaled down sections (I used the sprite scale to try and make them look normal.  It appears that scaled down look is how they normally looked).
- Freeze idle timer's not complete.  It works for the 1st section of all the stages, but there's other sections that use other addresses (because I figured you'd probably use what I found to get character/enemy sprites at the start of the stage).
- There was values for the color swapped enemies, but I didn't bother with those, because they have the same sprites as the ones in the list.  Except for the hat wearing enemies, but that's more because I was having trouble getting values for them.
- You'll have to use jump to next chapter to make the other bosses sprites use their correct colors.  I suggest making a savestate during the opening cutscene.  When the game messes up (which it will when you use the sprite mod), I have to soft reset the emulator then let the game progress past the opening cutscene to stage 1 all the way up to when you chase Scorpion.  Sometimes I have to use jump to next chapter to get back to that stage and let the stage load for it to appear correctly.
- For the last stage, everything that can't be hidden with the BG mods is a sprite object.  Use the sprite scale mods to hide them.

- How to view enemy/boss sprites (whatever's listed anyways):

Turn on the 3 cheats below P1 Y Position.

Go through the list for a character/enemy you want to rip and press enter.  It should display the 1st sprite in that group.

Hold P2 Button 1 and press right to increase the value.  Press left to decrease.  Do this until you inevitably access a non-existent frame and cause the game to mess up.

- You may have to use the alt P1 cheats, depending on what stage you're on or if your character died.
Spoiler: Master's Fury  - LU:01/02/21 (click to show)

- This is obviously for newer versions of MAME
- My cheats start at Recolor Player Shadows/Black BG Color To... and downwards.
- I took my Dragon Master cheats and added position mods for BG layers, more position mods for OBJs, freeze event timers for the win and vs screens, and a cursor mod for the sound test, because it likes sometimes setting the value to 09 when it's not eating my inputs.
- Dipswitch C settings only shows you 2 kinds of debug info.  It's pretty much useless now.  But how are you seeing hitboxes in this screenshot?  I accidentally found an address that turns them on while looking for BG layer positon mods :p.  There were some other things around it, like pausing the game or making it run super fast, but they didn't seem interesting.  If you're curious, they're around where I found the hitbox viewer.  Just set a 00 value to 01, and that should cause something to happen.
- Sya Li's stage might be good for ripping character sprites.  The OBJ position mods could probably give you some more options for that too.
- I'd like to come back to the .lua file once I figure out how the hell I can make conditionals based on keyboard presses.

edit:
Superior Soldiers:Turns out P1 frames actually uses 2 bytes that you could use to display specific sprites to a player.  Renamed it to sprites, since it's probably not frames (it seemed like a good idea at the time seems to be a recurring thing with me).
Added a sound player, something to tile mod player shadows, some hide obj tile cheats, and changed recolor player shadows to use an address from paletteram, so now it does it on the fly.
Astra Superstars: BG color mod works on the fly now.  Haven't found anything for characters.
Groove on Fight: Changed color mod addresses and added addresses to mod sprite priority for characters/BG layers (because it's kinda hard to rip a BG layer when it's been retiled :p).

removed castlevania 3 and mighty morphin power rangers (they're not needed, especially mmpr.  I didn't realize how useless that obj test was).
