I'm kinda serious about this after seeing Konami's FB account advertise some MGS themed shirts the other day.

I just want me some MGS4. With all the bad things I heard about it, it's still the only game from the main series that's out that I haven't played. I don't wanna get a PS3 just for that one game, and I don't have any interest in an a PS4(nor do I know all the details on backwards compatibility either).If the collection came out on PC I'd buy the whole damn thing again just to play that one game.
Backawards compatibility for a PS3 using a PS4 in a nutshell: Theres no backward compatibility on the PS4 for the PS3(unless you like Playstation Now)
They've got the PC versions of MGS 1 & 2 ready and waiting, it'd be easier to put the collection on PC than it was for 360.
They're obviously not going to use the old PC versions of both games if they ever release the HD collection on steam. Even the Konami rep who leaked the release date of MGR on steam said that there was nothing decided but if they ever release the collection they would release the current version of all of those games.
There's no current version for MGS1, unless they do some crazy shit with Twin Snakes (which I doubt).
They're not going to ship the collection with the PC version that was released back in 2000. They'll need to update it so it runs alright in current gen PCs without needing any fan patches although now that I think about it there's no need at all for that because MGS1 is not even part of the HD collection to begin with.
