Oh, this better mean something stupidly joyful like ... Big Boss wakes up 9 years later, forms Diamond Dogs, and his son SOLID SNAKE appears with David Hayter's voice OR SOMETHING, or this is breaking point for me and I'll go on a murderous rampage.

Murderous. Rampage.

Maybe they changed Big Boss' voice actor to match his Metal Gear Solid 4 voice?

If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

Yep, they have to show all the graphic power of the FOX engine! At least he didn't go into first person view.

That's Ocelot at 3:00 into the trailer, right? And the character with the gas mask could be Psycho Mantis? (That would explain the weird supernatural stuff like the giant burning whale and the fire pegasus. If not then it's a new character with pyrokinetic powers) Or would they still be relatively young during those events?

Solid Snake can't be older than 9 at this point so they wouldn't be too old yet, and these two guys look young (in the sense of not too old) enough here. I thought it was them too, gas mask guy has a lot of the same movement mannerisms. Although I'm not too sure about Ocelot, the cowboy guy doesn't look too good a match for someone between young Ocelot and old Ocelot. But if Ocelot teamed up with Big Boss again it has to be then.

After hyper ventilating for 1 hour, and re-watching the trailer, I think the breakdown of WTF is going on goes like this:

1. After the events of Peace Walker ("We have interfered with the times. They're gonna hunt us Kaz") Big Boss' fears come true, and they're hunted.
2. The Helicopter him and Kaz Miller were travelling is shot down.
3. BB goes into a coma, loses an arm. He's in his early 40s.
4. Wakes up 9 years later. He's in his early 50s by now.
5. "V has come to" - Nurse tells Master Miller. He goes to rescue him on a horse.
6. BB is incorporated to a new unit, the Diamond Dogs.

That's all I've got. Plus, Kojima said in an interview that this would be a game where Snake would be Old. I guess they're trying to save poor David's throat, since he had to force it too much for MGS4. So yeah, at least the Old Big Boss soothes me a bit.

According to the timeline, Zero takes samples of Big Boss' DNA when he's falls into a comma, Phantom Pain should be that event (A 9 year old Solid Snake with David Hayter's voice would be... way too weird)

My mamory is a bit hazy concerning this but since when was Big Boss missing an arm? I could swear that his body was complete in MGS4 (I know they also used Solidus' body parts to help him recover, but still)

Actually, the comma in question is somewhere in between the events of Portable Ops 1 and 2, in 1972. PW takes place in 1974.

The losing of the arm, well, it beats me. AFAIK he was supposed to be injured it in the battle VS Solid Snake in 1995, but now he doesn't have it, so... *shrugs*

It's older Big Boss, not Naked Snake.  They probably want him to sound as such.

David Hayter should make like a PODCAST or something, so people can get their fix of DH.

Huh, but Portable Ops Plus has no story, it's just Portable Ops with an extended multiplayer mode.

"In 1972, while Big Boss fell into a coma from being gravely wounded from a battle, Zero brought his unconscious body to a lab where his genes were extracted to make genetically enhanced soldiers."
Alright so it IS before Peace Walker and after Portable Ops.

So the coma in Phantom Pain is a different coma? Goddamn.

Get into a coma, wake up, get into another coma for 9 years. Shit luck there, man.
So maybe Solid Snake is like 12 years old already.

Get into a coma, wake up, get into another coma for 9 years. Eventually fight your son and get into yet another (nanomachine induced) coma. Shit luck there, man.
So maybe Solid Snake is like 12 years old already.
There we go.

The risks of your line of work.

You guys should read up on the woes of The Boss in the secret EVA tapes at the end of Peace Walker. Those guys had it shit-bad.
