Anyone here into metal? I like lots of heavy metal, speed metal, power metal, thrash metal, black metal, and others.

My favorite bands are Riot, Chastain, Fates Warning (first five albums), Cloven Hoof (first three albums), Attacker, Omen, Judas Priest, Liege Lord, Tyrant (epic metal from Los Angeles), and Mercyful Fate.

I don't like groove metal, industrial metal, nu metal, or any variation of -core.

If there's already a thread for this, please let me know.

I've been all over the map with my metal tastes, bit of column  A, column B ect.

For example, I hate grunge and death but this Doom cover is just delicious

Delicious.

Are you familiar with Concept albums? Basically the album tells a loose story over the course of the songs
King Diamond pioneered it's use in Metal and is godly because it.
If you have the Time to sit down long enough to listen to the whole thing, do it!
If you like it I can introduce you to some others.

I fucking love classic metal.  Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Motörhead, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Slayer.  Shit doesn't get much better than that.  I do also enjoy a bit of symphonic stuff like Nightwish or Within Temptation every now and then.

Also Van Canto because those guys are the shit.

I'm a huge King Diamond fan, but I don't like "Them" as much as the rest of the first five albums. Conspiracy and Abigail are much better. He's touring North America later this year -- are you going to try to attend?

Damn. I WISH.  Anyway if you've heard him already how about
Devin Townsend
"Ziltoid the Omniscient"

Almost every track in this album has a completely different "feel" to it. The story is silly as shit but the album as a whole is phenomenal.
Just... Ugh.

I'm familiar with Devin Townsend and Strapping Young Lad, but I'm not the greatest fan. They do a good job at what they do, but I'm typically more into bands similar to Manilla Road or Bathory (both eras, but I like the first three albums the most).

Speaking of Manilla Road...

If you care about lyrics just as much as music in metal, you'll certainly find a lot of life to this band.

Final Fight

Kneel before Zod!

The only retro thrash metal band that I like quite a bit is Deathhammer. To these ears, they're more than just a band paying tribute to the early days of Kreator and Destruction...
