I've seen people suing other people for less than this...

Which is wrong, and I'm glad that it doesn't happen that often.

It's also quite a gray area, I mean, are you going to sue him because he made a game similar to megaman after he left your company... when he was one of the main guys behind megaman to begin with? That shit wont stand a chance.
pls

the characters were not virtually identical and Data East certainly had not bodily appropriated them for use in its game.
^ If they couldn't prove anything in their advantage back then, as the article states, they won't be able to now either. Genres have expanded, the core game is very different to Megamens (you don't kill, you absorb). It's pointless to have this conversation again.

The situation's quite different. SF2 was new and big for that case, but Capcom hasn't made a Megaman game in ages, and that's (one of) the reasons Inafune left Capcom in the first place. If he wanted to do a Megaman game and Capcom wouldn't let him, he probably thought about the possibility before leaving - maybe he even asked them if they'd go after him.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

The Fighter's History lawsuit was in my mind as well. I don't really think that's the case at all here. Just a recurring idea that pops in my head. Either way it's to my benefit. As someone that loves this genre, play style, and character designs (fused bass/omega zero looks cool) this is a good thing. Whatever is allowing it to happen I'm okay with :p
