My review:

The Clsns are good so no complaints there.

Gameplay-wise, the character does way too much damage.

So did he do this character accurate again?

If so, we can expect to find flaws here because of the accurancy.

I'd have to say that Mass's version is way better than the one I did.  Much more accurate, and the tornado FX were ripped perfectly.  Good use of the gnomes/magic meter.  Nice job!

Question, is the damage values are accurate?

A better explanation of how much damage an attack is doing might be better, although knowing Mass, he does seem to go for accuracy in his stuff even when it's a bad idea(See: Dragon Master creations).

Send me a PM if you decide to add me on PSN, so I don't mistake you for a random Friend whore.

"ACCURACY"

IS THERE AN, "N," IN, "ACCURATE"? NO. THERE IS NOT. STOP ADDING IT.

and accuracy to a beat-em-up is stupid

To be fair, mine's OKAY.  The tornado super looks crappy because I couldn't rip the tornado well.  And I made the character over the course of a weekend.  Nemephosis helped me rip the sprites, which saved some time, but it was still really fast.
For example, mine only has one win pose animation.  Mass's has both.  If you're a Golden Axe purist, you'll definitely want to check this out.

It was not your worst, far from that. However, as you said, the chars was made "over the course of a weekend", and that's not how you're supposed to do it. The idea of sharing rare or not-yet-made stuff with the community is very nice, especially when you know it's stuff people have been waiting for some time now (Golden Axe the Duel, Martial Masters), but instead of jumping from a creation to another, it would really be best to go back to fixing old stuff when you receive feedback, in order to get good characters.
Quality >>>> Quantity.

Yes, I have a backlog of fixes to do for certain characters.  I wasn't going to do Milan, had just finished Keel and was burned out, but Nemephosis contacted me and asked if I would do it as a favor.  Since I love the character too, I said okay, but only if you help me rip the sprites.

I lose interest after such intense work in a short time due to burn-out, and get distracted by other things (like making sidescrolling levels).  In order to do the work (unpaid mind you) you need enthusiasm and obsession to fuel you.  So I'm guilty of jumping to other projects which seem a lot more exciting than the hard grind of tweaking and perfecting.

You're probably thinking, then why release the character if it's not ready?  And my answer to that is, because I really do want the feedback for when I get around to making the fixes later on.  And because some people would rather have something instead of nothing.  How many WIP's never see the light of day because of lost files, computer crashes, or school/work taking precedence?

Anyway, I know that I am very glad that Mass was able to solve the issues I couldn't.  I would love to know how he ripped the tornado super.  That move was so hard to even pull off, let alone to rip cleanly.

Count, your Milan is good, just fix that tornado super then everything will be good. I give you credit for even making her in the first place.

I just wonder if Mass' version was done because of ours. Even if it wasn't the version we worked on that ultimately ended up the "better" one, if the character got done because of us, mission accomplished, in my eyes.

Nemephosis how did you manage to rip the sprites?  I used SSF and recorded videos by Fraps and then took out sprites from video still shots.  Then clean the sprites by hand.  But I am sure some sprites were missing and kind of impossible to rip.

What is your method?

My result example:

My result example:

I disabled all the backgrounds, as much as I could, and then did the moves and took screenshots of them, oftentimes involving pausing and unpausing lightning fast (or as fast as I could anyway.) This resulted in having to do the moves more than once to make sure I stopped on each frame. If there were only a way to advance the game one frame at a time with the emulator I was using, that would have made shit SO much easier but you have to make do with what you can.

On frames that were partially blocked by other things, Count Monte would piece together usable parts of the frame with other clean frames to basically create a new sprite that had all the pieces necessary. He called it "frankenspriting". For the most part, it turned out well.
