MK vs. SF - Fight for the Universe
[BETA V0.2]

Info:

This version includes three game modes: Arcade and the new Story and Online Mode.


The Arcade Mode is used to play against friends, practice (movelist included by pressing the start button) and configure the game (here is where you'll want to configure your binds and such for story mode as well).

Story mode features the MK vs. SF story with cut scenes, which is in demo stages (and don't freak out, this will not bring forth awkward parenthood angles).

Online Mode is featured as well, using IKEMEN, and is a work in progress. It might present a few bugs here and there, but it's nothing gamebreaking and it's still very well worth the fun.

MAX Combo Limit:

Depending on a character's current level, there will be a maximum combo counter on the bottom part of the screen for each player. This number indicates the number of standing/crouching basic hits you can perform in a single combo (aerial, special and super moves are not included). The more power you gain, the longer are your combo strings.

IKEMEN Online Mode:

For those who are unaware, here's how you setup an online match:

-Make sure your router's gateway is open if you're creating the game.

-If you're creating the game, simply select "Connect" and hit OK without typing in an IP adress. Remember the Port number you're using

-If you're joining, select "Connect", type in the IP adress and use the port the host is using.

IKEMEN Bind Setup:

-The binds are located in the SSZ folder. Open it and edit config.ssz with notepad. Find a piece of text that looks like this:

Simply edit every character you see after "(int)k_t::". The directions are self-explanatory, and the rest of the binds go in the following order: a, b, c, x, y, z, start.

ok here's the rundown on why this game needs a BIG overhaul storymode wise....

Scorpion plays a huge keepaway game with his flamethrower(hellfire) spamming it constantly...teleports out of your attacks making Ryu's zoning game useless. he avoids or blocks EVERYTHING you do. It's nearly impossible to beat him. Another thing...why the fuck does Scorpion Slide like Sub-Zero? I don't remember him ever doing that plus the move underminds all your low attacks.

fix it by making scorpion use his flame attack less....

remove the sliding.

lessen his teleports. he spams almost as much as the hellfire. make it punishable if you block it by making him bounce off the player resulting in an opening for an aerial attack or shoryuken.

make the hellfire(anti-air) be an anti air...with his hellfire you can't even get close without being pushed back.

@SlenderMan: The hellfire can be annoying, I agree, but it takes a while for him to start it up. You shouldn't have too much trouble dashing away, blocking or even parrying it. Crouching also works well against the teleport punches, though I agree, he should be punished with an opening if you guard them. As for the sliding, perhaps you're right; maybe it doesn't go with him as much as we had hoped.

Just keep in mind though, AI difficulty options do affect the AI.

I know for sure I fixed that through ai limiters in Kung Lao's cns. Are we sure the most recent version of him got patched in?

Edit: Same question for Sagat, and Ryu for that matter. It seems the AI changes and some fixes may not have made it in...

Well, I downloaded this and only got the Story game, so I tried that. It was AWESOME! Don't really like how Sakura was Ryu's lover(SPO Ryu?) or the end. But Scorpion kicked my butt all over the place. It doesn't give me controls, either. Seriously, those up and down spears NEED TO GO. I needed to use debug keys to beat him.
Expect nothing, but remeber everything.+ I am tired. Future spot for Doraemon in MvC picture, the second I learn to create it. (Even further: Pepsiman for Mvc picture.) Insert random Doraemon anime .gif. (Also, Pac-Man Delta whaling on a MLP character .gif........) Now, Wipeout....... OTHER STUFF? Needs blue SSB 64 Mario in tornado .gif......... Add Super Mario Fighters 3 sprite here........ Also, now doing KFA stuff...

Im sorry, I'm dying laughing. I feel your pain. The spears are staying but don't worry, there will be ai levels come .25. I make really challenging (cheap?) ai, but im going to make the other levels more user friendly and less likely to induce tears of blood. Lol.

There are 2 other .exe's in the game, "Arcade" and "Online". Go to Arcade to setup the binds and whatnot.

Scorpion is very hard to beat, very annoying, always use teleport to attack. But the game is very good, congratulations to the creators, while the errors of the characters, ask all of you patience because the characters are totally new, it is very difficult to create something 100% perfect at first, but in a future version, it will be fixed I'm sure.

Im actually looking into getting it fixed tonight. The ai will probably still be a bit of a pain, but the floating bug as well as a few other big things will most definitely be taken care of. Give me just a couple of hours please. Just some small things got overlooked, my apologies for the troubles.

Just wamted to say this is beyond amazing. The flash by peroxide has to be one of the craziest fun things to watch on the web but to be able to play it. MY GOD. enjoying everybit of it.

2 quick questions, well maybe 3.

How can i get ikemen control to work well with DS3TOOL, as me an my friends play with controllers

will you ever release the falling stage as a standalone, shit is so boss

an does anyone know how to install the interactive stages by syn, i cant find any info at all

don't get me wrong he's great and all but if he hits you with the hellfire it knocks you back and he immediately starts up the next hellfire which is annoying...then you'll try to Tatsumaki over his spear...he'll grab you in mid-air mid kick...it feels kinda broken. I got close to beating him once and that was it... you can't really try spamming hadoukens at him since he just teleports and goes into 50 hit combos(exaggeration of course) but it pretty much negates anything you do to defend yourself. I find the best way to damage him is don't give him space if you can manage it.

Arcade is a separate mugen app. should be in the main folder.

It will, that's coming in .25. It's like that right now as a temporary thing.

If i'm not mistaken, Syn usually batches a how to readme in his stages folder. Try looking through any documents present.

Oh no, I get you man. Alright, insider tips to tide you over until I scale the ai:
If you jump against Scorpion, block more than you attack.
Spear is heavily punishable, and hellfire, while bothersome, can both be teched and punished with quick projectiles or forward moving attacks.
Wait for teleports
They can be ducked and punished, and I believe MP and HP version are punishable on block.
Use your super projectiles
He's bad about guarding them usually.
Watch his meter
Both his supers are quick, but hella punishable on block. To put it simply, you must wait for your openings and counter more than you actively attack. Hope this helps?

The messatsu hadouken (HCB+HP+HK) is particularly effective if you can catch him with it. It's gonna hit him with a 5-hit-combo, and if you can hit him with it while he's standing, you can add in your own combo while he's being hit with it, dealing lots of damage to him.

I find the best way to damage him is don't give him space if you can manage it.

^Also, this. Just keep pestering him up close with combos whenever you feel the time is right.

Just be careful not to bait yourself or get speared into it. I find I do a Shrouken alot when I try to shoot a Hadoken, too.

everything in the stage txt files refers the reader to a forum which doesnt exist anymore. The current folder has no information on it what so ever an i'ved even PM'ed him multiple times here to no avail. Last time i tried it myself i screwed up my mugen folder an had to scrap it as everything had been corrupted

even MFG request section wont help....gotta be somebody out there

the crappy part is when I jump in for a combo he jumps up and throws me or teleports and combos. BUT you did a great job getting him as close to the flash movie. Very accurate. Loving Sagat btw.  I've always had a soft spot for Sagat in the alpha series as well as SF4.

I have just talked with firelord and we have decided to take some time before we release 0.2.1. I realize Chatman said the fix would be released "in a few hours" or so, but we figured it'd be better to give it some time and let more bugs reveal themselves, if there are any, so we can kill more birds with one stone.

In the meantime, knock yourselves out and thanks for your support. :) Keep reporting whatever troubles you.

Oh, the Arcade and Online games don't show up because Avast assumes it's a virus. Sorry about that. Also, another thing. Personally the hit sound sounds a little "light" compared to the action. I mean, when you kick someone, I don't think there would be a "Smack" style sound. Could you add something a little deeper or heavier sounding?

Ohhhh... I feel your pain. Deactivate that piece of crap while playing, seriously. You'll be fine, don't worry. As for the hitting sound effects... idk. Those worked fine in the flash IMO.

playing the ARCADE mode.... Another mistake, now the "AI" press the start button and not out.

Appears above the name "PLAYER 2" does not mean I pressed the "start" of the second control and also because it does not work in ARCADE mode, it has happened several times and was not only in a "char", I think everyone is in the same problem.

Just wanted to let you guys know something about online mode, it might scramble the characters in the roster without you realizing (it's something weird about IKEMEN). Whenever you wanna select a character, check their names in the lower corner, that's the reliable way of doing it.

I picked SL2 Akuma against firelord last night when I wanted to pick Kung Lao... he did not appreciate that.

As for the movelist issue, it has been fixed.

Edit : are there character specific combos? ive tried combination after combination of inputs and cant seem to get very high despite having a level 3 bar, while the A.I is comboing me like crazy?  A list would be handy if so. Also chameleons move list doesn't say anything about you being able to punch his ice clones

True, but SyN used a batch file that basically goes through your characters' folders and adds stuff to their cmd's, saving the original .cmd files in a backup folder inside each character's folder. Then you have to import sprites in general .sff files (fightfx.sff, I think?) in your data folder with specific group and sprite numbers, followed by copying animation codes in your fightfx.air. Oh and importing the explosion sound effect, I imagine... can't remember the .snd file's name (fightfx.snd?).

Correct ^ The sprites and sounds go into the fightfx.sff and fightfx.snd so you don't have to add them to each character, that would be awful.

also, I sent you a PM a few days ago, did you ever get it?

Yessir, I'd love the "easy way".
Expect nothing, but remeber everything.+ I am tired. Future spot for Doraemon in MvC picture, the second I learn to create it. (Even further: Pepsiman for Mvc picture.) Insert random Doraemon anime .gif. (Also, Pac-Man Delta whaling on a MLP character .gif........) Now, Wipeout....... OTHER STUFF? Needs blue SSB 64 Mario in tornado .gif......... Add Super Mario Fighters 3 sprite here........ Also, now doing KFA stuff...

Well... I actually think that if you can already chain 3 to 5 normal hits, it should be enough because of the fact that most (heck, if not all in some cases) specials in a character can be cancelled into from normals, dealing considerable damage.

As for the combos, come on, if they're so complicated, how come multicolor®, taybear, nny, ryuhoshi or slenderman aren't asking for them? :P

No, i understand that. If not i'd feel horridly stupid. for instance. Grabs commands arnt in there. Two specials are in the move list for some chars but have 3 (kung lao/chamelon/scorp) No mention chameleon cant punch his clones towards his enemies. Did some running slide dash with Lao i didn't see on the list. etc. There are more moves than whats listed on the specials or details concerning them.

I cant comment on what others ask for. I'm my own person bro. However i can tell you that after playing this non stop since i downloaded it that its frustrating as I've considerable time to figure out your "combo scheme".  Oh an one more thing...when subzero is in here (HE BETTER BE!!) YEA, ima need that list pm'ed

Lol, I see. Sorry for misunderstanding your question. :P We'll get to it.

Hahaha... alright, I'll think about it. I might be generous by the time Sub Zero gets in there. ;)

Just something to consider though (although you probably assumed as much), Scorpion and Chameleon (and by the next version Reptile) have very simillar combo strings, as well as Ryu and Akuma. So if you figure it out for one character, chances are you figured most of it out for the other 1 or 2. Kung Lao is a tad different from his kompanions, though, and Sagat mostly has basic left-to-right comboabillity, though he makes up for that with his strength.

I don't know if anyone's pointed this out, but Crouching Heavy Punch -> Super Jump -> Air Light Punch -> Air Medium-> Air Medium Teleport with Scorpion loops into itself. There could be variations to this loop, but you get the geist.

I just play again and ... It's just a matter of getting used to the chars, I'm winning Arcade mode with "Ryu" (which in my opinion is the weakest after "Kung Lao") chars are very well balanced, "IA", you will realize this after they get the hang of the movements of each. I also realized that it is impossible to beat Kung Lao, without having to press "F4" to start again, always giving error while jumping. is missing only the "Ken" is well tin the game without him (LoL)

c'mon guys MK vs. SF isn't an easy game, just practice, if you want something more easiest play in Arcade Mode Shin LVL2 Akuma and Chameleon are more hardest than Scorpion this is only the begining.

Well I want to explain more about the next release of the game... we know a lot of bugs in AI and bla bla, we gonna do this: Fix all those bugs, add 2 Characters more a Stage... and improve more the online mode, guys the online mode is really great I recommend test it with friends..

We are preparing a big update for v0.3, I don't want tell you more about this because is a surprise.

I do not know if it's just here, but the "Riverside" phase has a slight drop in fps(lag). Do not tell which is my PC, because it runs games like GTA IV, Resident Evil 6, etc...

So I played this and.

Im very disappointed with the screen resolution, its such a strange one.

the characters look huge.
all the fantastic looking super moves i can almost not see because the characters are ususally off the stage when it happens.

my only problem is, Please fix the screen resolution and camera.

Chun Li and Reptile are planned for 0.25. Ken is gonna have to wait a while (we have other plans for 0.3), because we don't wanna shoto-whore the roster. When he does appear, Raiden will most likely be included as well.

I only play window mode. I refuse to play full screen mode.

Odd... we're not really having problems with huge characters... could you post a screenshot?

Yep, still alive and kicking. We're looking into additional things/mechanic changes, such as quicker and more comfortable comboabillity and better AI for 0.25. We are also implementing Chun Li and Reptile in the mix, along with a couple of more stages.
