Waaaait ! Let me get this streight  :o
This project aims to create a mugen-based mortal kombat game that has the stages and fighters from the mortal kombat 9 game that was only released for PS and other non-PC consoles ???

WOOOHO  :sugoi: YEAH!!! TAKE THAT u other dumbass consoles!!!  >:( THE PC WILL  ALWAYS FIND A WAY !!!  :D :D :D

consoles... well nothing... except you gotta buy'em and pay 30 $ for original games, and STILL you can't play all the games (strategy games need point&click action)... PC is the universal console, cheap to download games and the father to the first mortal kombat game... giving this mod that's made based on mk9 is a sign of respect for the pc :D

plus i hate joysticks  >:( seriousley it doesnt feel natural to hold it and use thumbs instead of good all W,A,S,D on keyboard

hey i want to ask you two thing,are you working in the 3D chars of the original game

and the second thing, how i do the fitalitys?

I'm guessing they're doing them just like they're doing x rays: they have video of every possible 2 combatants fighting and when you do a x-ray or a fatality it plays the right video
(example scorpion doing fatality on johny cage)

problem is there are 31 characters includided with all DLC and all
(WITHOUT freddy cruger, what nut job made him a mk char might as well gimmie a pistol and include me)... So 31 wich need to face each other thats a lotta videos (+2 fatalities each and each char has to have his own stage fatality video)... and alternative costumes added...

SO in here lies a dilema: if they decide to use video it will simply be too much space consuming and the classical fatalities...hmm... i dunno they would feel kinna cheesy with this hi res backround & chars

It will be definitely the old school way, no videos. Too ugly, too much work, too useless, too hard for the processor.
And not fit with the characters graphics, as I want to keep their old aspect.

It will be definitely the old school way, no videos. Too ugly, too much work, too useless, too hard for the processor.
And not fit with the characters graphics, as I want to keep their old aspect.

short video, doesn't show any of fighters characteristics AND can be used in any character combination (every skull is the same-screw reptile and baraka they can have normal skulls) neat in my opinion and refreshing  ;D

There are approximately 800 sprites / character, and 31 characters in the game. In total, it will be close to 25000 sprites.

In the method you show, the man used a software called XNALara, it's a posing program used for single poses. Do you think anyone could be able to do all these one by one, chaining correctly and fit with human poses ?

If you can find a team motivated to do all this work, why not. But while waiting, I'll keep to the old sprites.

Yeah, lol... I kinda had some dumb personal rules for myself when I did it, since it was a tribute, such as "Don't change the pose!", etc...

I guess "Keep some essence of the old costume!" was another one of those. It's not that I meant for the stripes to be so thin, it's just that what you see is the original thickness of the UMK3 Scorpion ones. I didn't bother to increase their size...

If you want my opinion :P :Looks great so far! You just need to edit the following and it'll be 100% MK9 Smoke!

Flap that hangs from the belt: Make it pointier at the bottom and add a black border to it.
Arm guards: Remove that "rectangle" from them, make them slightly thicker and add that division they have.
Leg guards: They are almost the same in MK9 as they are in MK2... I guess they are more partitioned to look like the chest plate, and they now end sort of around the middle of the foot, rather than right at the beginning.
Chest and head: These look incredible! I have nothing to add, except maybe the hair could float a little instead of falling straight down? (just a design suggestion, the hair itself looks great)

thanks for your advice graphius but at the moment im just trying to make him close to mk9 smoke i never said that i will make him 100% to the mk9 version of smoke because it would take to much work since i have to work on other characters and after the sprites are finished i could maybe try to make some updates to the mk9 sprites of all charactersprites but this is not for sure just maybe

this is a nice very sprite, and i like it's pose, like in mk 9 :D

(although i have to admit i was hoping for some metalic leg-guard and arm-guards to go with that breastplate :D)

you say you are making several models, i am curious what poses are you puttin on what character? :???:

thanks for the compliments im trying to do my best with these sprites here are some other chars i am working on, noob saibot, kitana ,subzero, kung lao, cyrax and kano. two of them are almost done Kano and cyrax after i finish smoke i will create subzero and then i think that we will release a beta or something like that to show the finish sprites ,remeber these sprites are not the final version so they may change in the other releases of us

that noob just blew me away looks just like mk9 (minus the slim arms, but thats outta our hands)

*can i just say something (this is my personal opinion):

I hate Kano. I actualy love kano (he's my favorite mk char next to reiko and scoprion) but i have always hated that cheesy outfit of his... It just doesn't make sence: why would a british mercenary wear a ninja-like robe... Would love if there was a sprite of his alternate costume

Concerning the others i must say they look great (dunno why you used mk2 base on sub zero but ok), of course cyrax shows little or no difference from original but it's the closest you can get to mk9 cyrax with sprites...

May i ask what model do you start off from: basics or already altered stuff?
there's many free forums that i saw there are many good sprites that can be changed

-like for reptile: mk4 reptile by Alien Sorrow

this model can be changed a bit and you get mk9 reptile

on that site there are some nice female models, there's a kenshi model, a quan chi model (if nothing you can take his head) and other...

oh and IF you decide to make Sektor, what basic model would you use: cyborg or ninja?
because he has pretty wide shoulders in mk9

sorry but i cant do kano in hes alternate costume because im trying to make them compatible with the game and there would be to much people that would disagree hes alternate costume as hes base costume i also like more hes white clothes but m trying to make it mk9 look alike and thats the reason. As for Subzero im using the same sprites as for smoke i have combine the umk3 ninja torso with the mk2 ninja legs expect of Subzero and Smoke i will use this costume ninja to create Scorpion and Ermac ,i will use kanos umk3 sprites for Noob Saibot and Shang Tsung from MK3/UMK3 to create Reptile thats for the ninjas as for Cyrax i just turned him to a yellow Cyborg i didnt made any special edit to him expect of hes green eyes , Sektor and Cyber-Subzero are also going to create with the same sprites because i cant see anything else that fits with them as for your site that you showed i already know that site but i dont think that i will find something usefull theire im just taking the sprites from mk warehouse and thats it

one last suggestion for cyborg (cyrax):
*maybe* you could add a brestplate (like on smoke), and
make cyrax's arms and legs yellow with a vertical black stripe on the legs and horizontal stripe on the half of the arm... like this:
