Hello everyone,

Thought this deserved it's own topic and I assume you will be getting a lot of people talking about this.

Avira virus today found a worm in my mugen, old version, last one released. It's called the QVod.PD worm. Couldn't find out anything about it, so if anyone knows, please let us know.

It was just when I started my computer and it popped up, a virus warring asking if I wanted to deny it access, which is a bit scary. It kept popping up over and over again till I took care of it. However, I'm not opening Mugen any more, not that version anyway.

You mean the Winmugen 2003? Yeah everyones talking bout it in the last days. 10 years and no problems with mugen until now. There might really be a virus in MUGEN for the past 10 years but until now the antivirus's couldnt find it cause maybe they haven't been updated.
But i think the virus comes from the website you downloaded it. Try to download it from somwhere else. Try many websites.

If it took 10 years for any virus "detection" to come up with Winmugen than it's very very very likely that it's a false positive.

I've got WinMUGEN plus, So I'm safe.

Would choosing me for the question thread be a
unique experience?  I can't really say.

If it hasn't done anything all this time it likely won't.

Occasionally EXEs will set off random false positives. I had a Doom sourceport do it to me months ago.

I have Norton 2010, and it scans every 6 hours. Also updates every few days or so, and it hasn't found anything. I wouldn't worry about it.

If you ask me it sounds alot like part of some propoganda scheme thats been going on in a few xat boxes to get people to convert to Mugen 1.0 if they haven't already, seeing as it seems to be too much of a coincidence that these two events just so happened to occur around the same time.

Disregard what I said. Lo-res MUGEN does have a trojan. However, it seems that WinMUGEN+ is safe.

You limit yourself so badly when you try to avoid variables. When you get over your fear of the "complexity" of variables, you will find yourself in a better place: A beautiful world where coding is actually fun.

That sounds a tad paranoid.

Yours might. Mine doesn't. I have 3 versions, the normal one. The scale the screenpack and winmugen+ as well as 1.0. None of these tell me anything at all is wrong.

Edit: Wait, yes it does. It didn't happen on the initial when i first installed it, or the 2 after that. It has only occured now that i've run an update. I would say there is some matching code there and it's enough for the scanner to cause a false positive.

Once I updated my Avira and did a full scan it found this "worm" as well in my low-res MUGEN.  No idea if it's a real worm or not.  I quarantined it, and it just detected it again in the System Restore volume.

Any way to find out if it's a false-positive or something sinister is in there?

Mugen comes with a virus that crashes your HD whenever you have any WIP that it's close to completion.

I don't give a fuck, I'll keep my MUGEN Plus until 1.0 becomes the sole thing created for. Also, like Cyan said, paranoid conspiracy theories, Rice?

I wouldn't consider that a infinite since you have to make your opponent bounce of the wall and if you do it on the wrong side of the stage the stage interaction would activate.
