Mugen Multiverse - Cross generation of fighters. MvDvSvC evolution.

Ok. First, goodbye long title.

Next, new "unlimited" select screen (based on 8000+ chars imt screenpack). Too much characters for not enough slots, it was like removing a char to add another. I decided to get rid of the mini portraits and having this unlimited space.

SFA font updated with "1-9" numbers and "-" (thanks to Megabyt2k2 who pointed this on MFG). Some minor changes on VS screen too.

All other things were kept from MvDcDvC1.0 (options bg, ending, intro...)
PSD custom portraits template included

UPDATE 13.02.21 :
New select screen (Combining slots + Unlimited space)
How does this work? : slots are for characters you want to show with mini portraits,
if you go to the left/right you'll have all the other characters with the category selected.

To use custom portraits : rename file "system-customportraits.def" to "system.def" in data folder.

one thing, though: you might want to consider moving the "Cross Generation of Fighters" to the left on the main menu, so that part of it is not hidden by the characters' sprites ;)

Ok I got my problem fixed! this screenpack is awesome! however I have a question, I found the "xselect-screen" in the psd folder. I added a few more sub-categories... How do I make the PSD that I saved the new select screen, and how do I make the new sub-categories selectable?

P.S. What font are you using for the sub-categories, because my computer doesn't recognize them and the final product comes out weird :/

Just missed the mini portraits...
Slots are for selected/prefered characters,
if you go to the left/right you'll have all the other characters with the category selected.
I'll make a video on how this works.

Do you plan to make it possible to edit the categories? I don't think lots of people use the characters in some of the categories you used.

Better use sendspace ? Or maybe you could ask for some hosting at MugenGuild. Just PM Iced.

Also, it would be cool if you could zip all the custom portraits in a single zipped file, instead of having to DL everything one by one.

no no, not the portraits i was meaning for the actual category name in the screenpack like how it says "S.Fighter-F.Fight" I went through the sff and noticed they were all compiled onto 1 image so i wanted to know if you were going to allow changing them or not haha

Your second problem has an easy fix, just put all the contents of the screenpack's font folder into your mugen's font folder.

As for you first problem, PM me I'll help you out with that

The sp works fine with 1.1b. There is just an issue with the sound menu

Thanks for the screenpack! It's working nicely here.
But I see we can use those custom portraits. How are we suppose to use them?
If I understand well, I must rename data/mvdvsvc-unlimited-1.1/system-customportraits.def to data/mvdvsvc-unlimited-1.1/system.def.
But then, what I should do with the all.7z archive file or with any of the pcx files?

Ok I found out how to use the custom portraits... As it's not clearly stated anywhere, here's the modus operandi:
  • Get the tool called Fighter Factory. the following is the TODO procedure for v3.0
  • Launch the tool
  • Open the .def of the character to which you want to apply the custom portrait
  • Once the character loaded, switch to the Sprites view
  • Navigate through the 1st slider of the Sprites panel until you get to Group=9000 / Index=1 (it can be at the beginning, the middle or the end...)
  • Click on the 2nd button ("Load a new image for the sprite from a file...") of the Sprites panel and select the custom portrait you want to apply
  • When being asked "Do you want to crop the image?", choose No
  • In the following message box, uncheck "Reverse" and choose "Image's palette if not already added"
  • Save your modification
  • When being asked "Do you want to save the palettes of the group 1 based on the definitions?", choose Yes
  • Close Fighter factory and launch Mugen, all's set and ready!

And this must be done for each character. I wonder if there is any batch mode in Fighter Factory...

I made a small patch to the screenpack so that victory screens get enabled.
Nothing really fancy, it's based on the custom portrait system.def file, and the accompanying music theme was taken from the screenpack War Zone by NoZ.
So to make it work, you must alter your characters by assigning duracelleur custom portraits to Group=9000/Index=1 and re-assigning big portraits to Group=9000/Index=2, as the new victory screen uses the big portraits.

Yes, there is a limit, and you can place custom ones, duracelleur can tell you how to get them to work properly
