I wouldn't say I'm a total noob to Mugen, but I'm having the issue of not having any music in Mugen. I've installed plugin after plugin, tried linking my mp3 file to a stage, and a character, but no matter what, I can't get my song to play. What am I doing wrong? Its frustrating. What I ultimately want to do is link the character Blackheart (be it directly or by stage) to the song BlackHeart.mp3
How are you installing the plugins how are you linking to the stage this would tell us what you are doing wrong. Where did you get mugen?
I am linking to the stage by opening the def file for said stage and placing sound/blackheart.mp3 in the background music slot. If I link it to the character, I do so in the select.def file under data (example: blackheart/blackheart.def, music=sound/blackheart.mp3). And as far as installing the plugins, I do so like it says in another forum on here ( mugen cfg audio, plugin=plugins/whateverplugin.dll, mp2, mp3, mpg)and I got MUGEN from the unofficial page for Mugen.
Well it sounds like everything is right. This mean there could only be three things. First would be the mp3 has a space in its name. The next one would be that you didn't put the mp3 in sound folder. Third your plugins are wack or you didn't put them in the plugin folder because that is where mugen.cfg gets it from.Try this download the plugins from this website. http://www.scruffydragon.com/f/mugen.htmlThis is the plugins that I use and I have no problem playing mp3 and .oggLet me know if this work.
