Im making animated sprites for my games, no its not pixelart but i want to make them look like sprites.More : http://bwwd.deviantart.com/gallery/Thanks for watching
SPUNKYYYYYYYYYYYThose look great, and when in context they kinda remind me of Earthworm Jim ... but slightly even more awesome! What program are you using? Are these animated in parts, or are they 3D models?
Even project shadows on themselvesThose remind me of Steamboy's HD SF3 animations (Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Alex, Chun Li). They're probably using the same program.
These are super awesome animations! The only feedback I could give you to improve them is to just clean them up a little, there edges/lines look a little rough.
Hoshi said, October 02, 2013, 04:01:53 pm<CENSORED>, HEFFER.I like characters in your sig, did you made them? Id like to make similar characters soon Characters are not 3d models but they look like they are sometimes especially sharks chest, im using body parts to animate them, kinda like new rayman game but im still learning like find ways to cast shadows on body etc, also i cant use heavily shaded characters so im kinda using very simple shading so things closer to camera are brighter.Yeah edges look kinda distorted on plain bright background like here but ingame its not a problem, some sprites like heffer dont have that much distorted edges but also they arent as sharp as other characters so it depends what result you want, sharp or a bit soft.I could make entire fighting character but theres a bit of more work, i made some but for beatemup and for platformers where you need juts walki/run/pain and single attack, if you want character to turn a bit to show his back then you have to find workarounds but you can have much more frames in animation i just dont like when it starts to look like flash animation and it happens when you have too much frames like here on right, 32frames vs 16 framesI wanted to show that there are different methods to create sprite you dont have to be pixel artist and it really depends what style it is thats why shading on all of them is kinda the same.
Hoshi said, October 02, 2013, 04:01:53 pmFUCK YEAH, HEFFER.seconded. this is a hooooootout of curiosity are you gonna make sheets for any of these? cuz ...if there was a heffer sheet...
Judging by amount of frames and tering edges its done with stickman(aka "one frame on crack"):http://www.cutoutpro.com/index.html
lol tearing edges and amount of frames have nothing to do with stickman, i can have any fps i want and tearing edges are made in animation shop, you just read my deviantart info cause i state in it clearly that im making all my anims with stickman Posted: October 06, 2013, 07:55:55 amThis is how sprites look ingame
wow!.......cute cute cute animations........very natural your animation.........simply no other word to describe.....amazing
Very nice game you have there. Is the name Biscoto inspired from the italian word "biscotto" which means biscuit, cookie?Good luck with the game making!
Yes but i didn't created characters, they are from comic book "Hugo" http://www.catawiki.com/catalog/comic-books/series-group/10113-hugo-bedu?language=all&hide_language_switch=trueWhen i was a kid in early 90s i wanted to play a game with characters from it so i made it myself finally.I think they're based on star wars characters quite a lot, bear being chewbacca and girl even had very iconic haircut --Made some Filburt sprites Posted: October 29, 2013, 01:32:58 amMAde some new creepy character
God damn you're talented. You have a unique style and a lot of skill. I have nothing beyond these shallow words of praise for you. Well done.
You draw on stickman software and then transfer the anim to paint to add the details... or you sprite on paint and transfer pieces to stickman
Im drawing in gimp , then assemble character in elemento that comes with stickman software, and i animate in stickman.Heres a bit of He-Man gameplay www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTAJp9T0ReQ Posted: November 25, 2013, 05:30:48 amhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=g-0NS5y5PJs Posted: December 14, 2013, 06:01:49 am
man I need a sprite animation tutorial of elemento/stickman but man you are the only one that does that XD
bWWd said, December 19, 2014, 02:12:05 pmFrom this single sprite : http://www.deviantart.com/art/Raphael-182598470 wow, this is crazy work man.. your animations are really good.. i have to look into this programs. thanks for sharing this..
yeah, this work is really good, I wonder if it's related to the person who was requesting body parts.
I still have issues with walk anim, i dont like it that much, timing issue looks a bit like he's limping or somethin.I made them in spriter software, it has pixel art features when you animate so it moves pixels around every pixel instead of blurring in he middle of 2 pixels etc, currently has interpolated and nearest neighbour algorithm but that could improve in future. It retains amount of colours when you animate indexed image, there are more options for pixel art and there's onion skinning, manual isnt that great so i recommend to watch their vidshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRIXRJX7N34I bought it year ago but there is some deal now for christmas and you can get it cheaper, i can honestly say its really a steal, it should of cost much more, i tried similar software called spine which is about 300$ but i prefere to use spriter.http://brashmonkey.com/forum/index.php?/forum-16/announcement-3-holiday-deals-on-everything/This one is also from spriter
Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltySpoiler, click to toggle visibiltyThanks man! I tried this software and its awesome, I made my first skeleton and its pretty functional, now I got to train to animate and pose them
You can try out raphael and open it in spriter to see how its madehttps://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8RnYSep1u_YZlJBNF9kd3RUazA/view?usp=sharingThere is new rotation method in the works but its mostly me whining and pushing devs to implement such things, more people doing that would definitely help and we would see this stuff sooner.http://brashmonkey.com/forum/index.php?/topic/3394-great-algorithm-for-rotating-pixel-art-sprites/
My God. I am so going to download this and fiddle around with it. Thanks for the links!P.S. Also added you to my deviantWatch
You can swap bodyparts to different ones in the middle of animations so it is possible to create complicated ones like rotations and stuff I updated raphael zip with new running versionhttps://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8RnYSep1u_YZlJBNF9kd3RUazA/view?usp=sharing
I wonder if you could do some of your wizardry for this http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h470/xatavis/snake_by_niewidomy-d5t1869-2.png
bWWd said, December 21, 2014, 07:36:05 pmI updated raphael zip with new running versionNow it needs some clean-up. It's looking too grainy if you know what I mean.
yeah , its just good way to animate your base version that can be adjusted and cleaned up later.Theres gonna be new rotation algorithm so it should look a bit better straight out from spriter, nearest neighbour doesnt look that nice when you rotate graphics too much.Thats why stance looks better because there arent many rotations in animation. If i would have some use for them then i would clean them up but its just for testing stuff out . Blind you can try out spriter its free, but when you want to use deformation then its currently about 30$.
yah, I'm trying to figure out which way of animating is better, as my currentmethod has hit a cap; I am thinking of sketches vs 3d models, vs sprite rotation; 3d models is pretty much a non option for me because I'd have to learn 3d modeling and animatino and that's totally unproductive; sketching I can learn and the same for sprite rotation , though I still woudl need to compare how efficient both of them are (I think that for real game companies 3d migth be the best option because there is a lot of 3d talent out there).
i messed around with it a little bit and yeah the software is amazing, and very easy to use.Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyi still need to understand how the animation works though
