Here Walt

And that specific topic is a lot about religion, but it's also a lot about homosexuality too. Should talking about homosexuality be forbidden, too?
No, the only thing to be discussed about homosexuality is that it should be tolerated. NOT attacked, nor accepted. It's a non-issue, as much as it's a lifestyle.

ALL types of segregation or stigmatization should be stoped.
Not your upbringing, you nationality, your beliefs or sexual orientation.

Thanks for being so tolerant.

Then my so called mocking as a response.

Well, walt. You make a list of all the things we are allowed to talk about.

Then, make sure you get specific about everything like you did with "The Gays"

Then after you have told us what we are and are not allowed to discuss, we will make a list. We will combine that list into books and will put them together and give it a name. We will call it the bible.

Context is a bitch.

Shamrock saying Jesus is an asshat.
So why would I choose to read a book that has one guy who isn't an asshat when I can read books written by people who aren't asshats and they don't send me to an entire eternity of fire and brimstone if I don't do exactly what he write about?

I said to quote the whole thing walt. Like this.

Quote
Although I will tell you what I do believe. Not because it's not all historically true and all literal, it means that the teachings don't have a positive underlying context. Whether you're a christian or not, one could easily accept Jesus as a prophet with a reasonably desirable message. One needs to be open to whatever enriches their lives. When you read it, make an effort to try to discover the true underlying message beneath every song (Psalms, Proverbs), every story (Judith and other old testament prophets), and every conversation (again, Paul's epistoles).

Yes, but I can also point to text of philosophy older than Jesus that lack stuff like, incest, and eye for an eye, stoning, fire and brimstone and hell, but still have the same concepts as Jesus.

So why would I choose to read a book that has one guy who isn't an asshat when I can read books written by people who aren't asshats and they don't send me to an entire eternity of fire and brimstone if I don't do exactly what he write about?

Let put it another way, I do things because I feel they are right. Christians do things because they are scared of defying the invisible terrorist in the sky.

@ my previous point. So you are saying that god isn't perfect then? I didn't put words into you mouth, you claim to be a Christian, I'm responding to the teachings of Christianity from both Catholic priests and Christian pastors. If you do not agree with your leaders that is your problem not mine.

Also if you read it. I said Jesus was not an asshat. How is that mocking, it was a question.

@Shamrock's Reply #162 - Context or no context, you're mocking a book considered holy.

Reply #163 - What is the word for what? My post was sarcastically poiting out that your comment is irrelevant to the conversation, as it doesn't necessarily mean that the fact that the word existed means that being an atheist is as WIDELY accepted as being a believer of any kind.

All your posts prove my point further, you're not capable of following a train of thought without insulting the other person. Not you, and many others either.

You will continue to automatically lose people to talk to when you disrespect them or their beliefs like that, and on top of it you don't apologize and mock them further saying you don't care if they get offended ;D

It isn't considered holy to me. Hell we can consider anything holy. I consider mountains holy but they still strip mine them.

Should they stop because I consider them holy. I could say the same about a toothbrush.

Again, complete and utter refusal to get on the other person's shoes.

You are an idiot. I'm out of this thread

I see that my point of view is now mocking and offensive.

So I will say it again. You tell me which things about my opinion and views I'm allowed to have.

You are allowed to be civil.

I only suggested to stop these kind of threads because people are not being civil, and the conversations are sterile first, and then turn sour, confrontational and rude.

how is that related to the matter at hand?

people don't like you as a mod exactly because of the behaviour I'm pointing out. You're just trying to divert the attention from the fact that the character flaws presented are actually part of your personality and you refuse to make an effort to be a better example.

Guild sure has changed from back in the day when people actually cared to educate their userbase, instead of just removing people left and right, and setting an example is no longer a requirement :shifty:

I do set an example. I'm not going personal against you. I have not called you names, but you have called me names. All I've done is state opinion in topics at hand. Opinions that you do not agree with. I debate them. You could do the same, but instead you just want to stop me from being allowed to state them.

You don't respond when I say god = terrorist. You don't say, no "he is this" and "that", "you got it wrong". Like I have with others.

Yet you will state your opinion about the morality of the all the people in the United States. That isn't a problem. I even debated you on it. I told you I find that opinion disgusting. I never said that you should not have it and I never called you an idiot of douchebag for it.

That is an example Walt. An example that adults can talk about adult things in a civil matter even if they don't agree at all. They can even speak with passion about the subject at hand and still keep their civility, their sense of humor, and even respect the other person for differing on the matter, even if they hate the other person's point of view.
