Old pallete editing method doesn't work with new program

Oh...where to start, 6 months ago I successfully made a batch processing script for editing a character's sprites so they're mugen compatible, I've also made many palletes for the character and they all work fine in mugen.
But my computer recently had problems and I had to delete photoshop along with the script, now I have the exact same character sprites waiting to be processed, but it seems that no matter how I try, the sprites are no longer compatible with my old palletes.
So my question is that since there're so many ways to edit palletes for Mugen, does the different methods effect the final product of the pallete? Even if the original sprites all share the same pallete to begin with?

I don't quite understand the question. The only way that would break is if the old sprites actually had a different palette. Your best bet here (if you still have the character) would simply be to extract his sprites again and use those. You can also extract the palette from those sprites just by loading one.

In order to check what you're saying. Load one of the original sprites inside the character (i trust this still exists) in photoshop. Then load one of the sprites you wanna do the batch stuff to. Compare palettes in PS and see if they match at all. If they don't, there's your problem.

Sorry the question is a little bit strange I know, I kinda screwed the process in the first place so it's a little bit hard to duplicate what I did before. Can someone link me to a pallete editing tutorial please? I want to follow the right steps and load up the old palletes to check whether there is an actual problem, thank you.

Dunno about editing. But my site has a tutorial for the first steps on how to correctly create a palette.
