On one hand, Team Fortress 2 was a spectacular departure from the more realistic and identifiably HL-engine visuals of the original Team Fortress, and embraced a kitschy but today largely unique visual style it could claim all to itself across all forms of media. On the other hand, Overwatch is straight up Calarts, and Calarts is fucking everywhere these days.

In trying to follow the TF2 formula, with this aspect at least, Blizzard has completely missed the point.
Hibernating.

jeez seems like everyone is judging this harshly here and everywhere else

I love TF2 but this looks even funner, just that simple to me, the abilities seems to make it that much more fun, and if it has strong console support then this could be the start of a long-lasting franchise.

The only thing it has to prove to me now is if it's going to have unique weapons, game modes and maps that will set it even further apart from TF2. If it can do that, then it'll hold it's own.

Tracer X Winston SFM porn everywhere once this is out. Calling it!

While it does scream TF2 everywhere let's face it, most of those archetypes are kinda needed in a game like this (For example, dude putting sentries everywhere, snipers). The only one that's outright a blatant copy from a TF2 only formula is the medic with a healing beam.

  • Make sense? What fun is there in making sense?

I kind of like the way they're trying to expand on the general catch-all character types in TF2.  Like how Symmetra and Torbjorn are both pretty obvious spins on the Engineer class, but Symmetra seems geared more toward offense and pushing forward while Torbjorn is more defense oriented.  I'm looking forward to trying this.

I've been wanting to find out more since I caught the CGI trailer a few days ago, looks pretty cool. Hat Fortress may have a run for its money

But lots of games have medics with healing beams. At least now. Other games usually classify medics as revival gimmicks or health drop dispensers, but those are becoming more and more scarce.

If we actually need to draw comparison, the most specifically TF2-like class is Torbjörn, what with having to actually keep whacking his structures to build them. Most of the other archetypes have been in shooters since forever, but that is straight up Engie.

Game looks neat. Gonna give it a try for sure.

Someone did a calculation of the cost of this at it's length, to Frozen, to mke a full 75 minute movie, it;s only be 75 million. That's half the cost of Frozen, and actually easily within Blizzard's overbloated WoW Money pocket when you consider how much money they get from WoW subscriptions and alike.

Back to Overwatch, A friend came back from Blizzcon and played it several times while there. From their analysis:

-At first, it felt like just an attempt to take away the TF2, but after a while, it really felt completely on its own.
-Several players are going to have to train themselves to get out of their natural tunnel vision for horizontal shooters, this game is very vertical and players will have to get used to looking high for snipers.
-The Archer's ricochet shot is Awesome
-The Reaper, at face value, is very OP

That's all for now
