palette editing question

hi, i've been grabbing some palette packs, and have figured out how to apply them using this video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwqpRZRKV7o

and it works fine, but in  the character's .def file, the palette's name stays default.  i've attempted to change the name in the .def file in notepad, and in fighter factory, but this just leads to load errors.  can anyone figure out what i'm doing wrong?

thanks.
I have a microphone pointing to my computer speakers while playing youtube episodes that were themselves recorded with a handcam pointing at the tv.

okay well i got the load error fixed, now my problem is even more OCD-related.

example:  using POTS' shin gouki i applied mc2's HDRSelect palette to the first position, which was taken by orange, which read 01 - Orange.act in fighter factory before i changed it.  now it reads 01 - Palettes/HDRselect.act. does the directory have to be displayed?

completely disregard this entire topic.
i just edited the .def file in notepad as opposed to using fighter factory to change the palette per the video's advice and now everything is clean the way i wanted it.
