I, along with many others in the mugen community enjoy making new palettes for characters. What I want to know is whether or not the original creators would have a problem with these edits being made available for others to use.

Please if you are a creator vote and give your reasons explaining why. If we can build a list of people who mind/ don't mind we can release them on here without fear of annoying creators needlessly.

the palette doesn't make the char

however you can release palettes for said char...and preferably link to the creator's site to make it easy to get the char

I dont see a problem with it but some creators consider that "stealing"

Thats why I want to find out which creators would consider that theft. So we don't release pals for their characters.

No one calls it stealing. There's no logic in that.

People only sometimes don't like it that's why they don't allow it for their own characters. Making palettes isn't stealing unless you release the palette with the character.

But what kind of retard releases palettes with characters.

As long as the palette is by itself, and the author you're making the palette for is OK with it (contact him/her beforehand), you can release as many as you want.

You can release the palettes as add-ons, that's not frowned upon.

This topic does had me wonder about something,
like about editting someone else's palettes.
I've did an edit to GinoBuffyGuy's Golddigger pallete for POTS' Sakura. the edit was I've colored in Kei's uniform (it only has the normal pallete) and I'm not really sure about releasing an edited pallete of someone else's pallete. (which is why I've decided to make it private)

Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

Good question. Considering that the original palette is already a modification of someone else's work, not allowing people to modify it further would be hypocritical. But then again this is the Mugen community, there are people who'd pass said palette as their own and that's where half the problems start.

And I voted "meh", because it's actually the only choice without a drawback to it. :P 1 sounds like it's only ok to do it in exchange for advertisement, and 2 makes no sense as every palette should be treated the same (not that I like having evil palettes made for my chars as much as nice colour schemes, but I'd never only allow one of the two).
Use anything you want from my works.  If you need to contact me use email, not private messages.

you know that whole "Vampire Nash" thing pissed me off.

i downloaded him only to find out its POTS' Nash with a pallete swap. same with Hulk Dan and Hulk Ryu (size alterations and green and purple pallete swaps.)

yea, I'll think about it. (even if I decided to release Sakura's golddigger2 Palette) and I do find it funny when some people mistake Pallete swipes of another character. (heck, I had that problem with Dark Link when I've uploaded the mugen video, Link vs Dark Link)
and speaking of Hulk type of spirtes, there was a pallete that I've used as my base: SheHulk for POTS' Sakura and I've used that pallete as a base for my own pallete for Link.
