Why can't we just pretend it never existed and move on to do more interesting things such as dating, go shopping, spending a nice afternoon in the park with your beloved one, having fun with friends, practice sports and such?

Mugen is way past it's time. Let us just leave it and let it die it's honorable death.

I do not find any of those more fun than Mugen (except maybe dating and friends).

Mugen is certainly a game. A game with much downloadable content, but a game nonetheless. Kung Fu Man (The character, not the other one) ensures it is so. As user created mods and maps are to Half-Life 2, so are all the characters people make for Mugen.

Mugen is an engine but you can call it a game once you download characters and stages, pieces from different games.

Hence the name game engine.

You can't count HL2 because HL2 can be played as a stand alone game. Mugen requires user made content to be made for it for it to be playable. KFM and the two stages that come with Mugen aren't at all "part of the engine", just used by it.

Nope, Mugen is a game and Kung Fu Man and the 2 stages ensure it is so. While they may be packaged the same way as user created content, they come with the game and so are part of it. Mugen "creators" are really just glorified modders.

Another way to put the evidence:

People should Imagine mugen as a simple white place where u can write or paint what u want to.


Every game that was made was a painting, a product subjected to a set of very clear rules, while mugen was only a very clear set of rules from where you can create another very clear set of tules, is the pencil an colors to be used to do something, adding as a final ingredient the subjetive creativity of one or more individuals.

Mugen was never a game, kfm and his stage was added as a template of some short, run mugen without any creation, and see the results, or take kfm and his stage as a game; it could be 25 yrs ago, but not now. Unless you are a freak out of my list, you can do it freely, whoa.

Art, a way to made oneself more incomprehensible to the machines, jajaja.

Well, Doom is a game built on the engine they also call Doom. Half Life 2 is buiilt on an Engine Valve calls Source. Unreal Tournament is built on a engine called... well, the UT Engine.

So the Doom Engine, Valve Source, and the UT Engine is comparable to mugen/winmugen.exe and the coding standard

But Doom: the Game, Half-Life 2, and Unreal Tournament is comparable to the data folder, the chars folder, and the stages folder, which may or may not hold the default game which the engine runs.
