MLP: Fighting is Magic?

Pony Carts are pretty original for me, but I would really like to see Pony Party or MLP game similiar to Crash Bandicoot games.

"Pony Karts are original, now allow me to list off other things that I wish MLP fans would blatantly rip off"

yeah, this is a good conversation

You mean like this?

that game that blatantly stole MvC3's control scheme entirely because it was the Newest, Hip Fighting Game at the time, yeah. I mean, far be it for me to say that fighting games rip off from each other because they essentially all are, and are still fun when done right, but this doesn't prove any sort of originality.

Or this?

hey i remember maniac mansion, that had some pretty good writing. this has ponies.

Or this?

teeming with such ambition just by the name itself, oh boy

Or this?

dude, everyone and their parents have attempted to make an RPG Maker 200X game before. This one incorporates a script that makes the battles look like the old Final Fantasys. I have no idea what originality you think is being brought forth here.

Or this?

...I...I don't even know what that is. I guess it's original? When some actual gameplay happens, maybe I'll be able to tell.

Besides, it's not like Nintendo are the only ones allowed to make kart racers.

yeah, other people do it too, but its usually a pretty blatant attempt to play off of mario kart but use their own franchises. At the very least, they get the kart series onto other consoles, and sometimes (not always) actually add their own spin to things. I have zero hope this game will attempt to add anything new to the racing genre, and if it does, it'll probably do so terribly. Just a guess, though.

Okay, now you're just being a prick.  What do you want, for them to invent a completely new genre?  By your logic, everyone should stop making video games altogether.  I mean, they've already had driving games and games with guns and games where you can jump.  Why do they need to keep ripping those off?

obvious response

what i would like is for, when these people continue to shovel out games, that they set out to do so with some sort of idea, rather than "Hey, remember ____? I really like that game. I'm going to remake it, but with ponies".

It wouldn't be so bad if it was just 'this reminds me of ______' but the games themselves are very clearly started with the idea of just inserting ponies into other games.

durrhurr ripoff

this is what im asking for. if this is an attempt to shovel ponies into some other game, I dont recognize it, so props, you've finally got something different here

Except that that isn't even remotely true about any of the games I linked to, or the one this thread is about.  Just because the genre is the same doesn't mean they're the same game.

Wow.  The one project I leave out because even I think it seems pretty shoehorned in, and that's the one you don't have a problem with.  >_>

So unpopular it's the reason why Capcom isn't even bothering to translate the second game.

And to be fair, Person Man, click-'n-point detective work adventures are universally cool and not just directly associated to one series.
You could call it "ACE ATTORNEY INVESTIGATION: NOW WITH PONIES" or "My Little Edgeworth", it'll still be like Day of the Tentacle for all we know.
Otherwise, kart racing... see what I'm getting at? If people are gonna bring up SASR as a kart racer, it was more like Outrun 2 with items and zany tracks than anything. Blur was kart racing disguised as SUPER SERIOUS but it did try to offer some sort of original stuff to go with it. Konami Krazy Racers, Motor Kombat, Crash Team Racing? They were cash-ins, but all done right. (though one was a mere minigame and still a blast and somewhat selling point next to customization)
Especially CTR. God DAMN.

But this... ehh I don't feel it.

So, Pony Kart doesn't sound like Mario Kart but with Ponies inserted into it?

yeah, okay.

see post above. never played those games so i didnt recognize it, but if thats what its modelled after, its not a pass. sowwy.

Crash Team Racing?

The only memorable thing Crash has ever done. A perfect example of how a good gimmick can save a dreadfully generic product. If these bronies can come out with something like that this game might be really good.

Hey fuck you, Crash 2 and 3 were amazing platformers.
CTR was unnecessary and came out incredible. Can't say the same for the other Crash racers, though.

Point taken.  I just realized that this is an incredibly stupid discussion to be having.

And CTR was, indeed, the fucking shit.
