Pre-advice toward avoiding common mistakes

So I browsed the forums and I'm currently reading all the tutorials I can get a hold of.Can any please tell me common beginner mistakes and the fixes for them?Even if I don't understand them I'd like to fix my mistakes immediately opposed to scratching my head for hours trying to figure out a common beginner mistake.

P.S. I keep hearing this thing about sprite duping happening on hurt/hit animations.I searched but I couldn't find a answer to it.What is the cause of this happening?

Thank you all who contribute and I hope I can contribute much to you in the future...after I burn some of my life getting this down of course :D

it's hard to tell you what to avoid without a specific question or situation. just follow a char making tutorial you feel is good and correct and post here your problems or questions.

I'm not sure what you mean by "duping", but you probably mean not following the required sprite group numbers for hurt/damage sprites.

I am sorry I was very tired.I heard that people were accidently "cloning" character sprites and yes your right.I found the answer to avoid that just before I got back here. Thanks,I'll try my best.

One thing I didnt find out about until way late in the game....
http://elecbyte.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
and
http://elecbyte.com/mugendocs/trigger.html#
will help answer a ton of questions.
BOOKMARK THESE PAGES!

But the biggest common mistake on the forums is not asking your question fully. You need to give as much info as possible so we know what to answer.

One tip I can give you is learn how to "read" complete characters.
Look at multiple character's [StateDef 200] and see the differences and figure out WHY or HOW they actually play different.

Other than that, it's trial and error.

You limit yourself so badly when you try to avoid variables. When you get over your fear of the "complexity" of variables, you will find yourself in a better place: A beautiful world where coding is actually fun.
