screenshots don't really do them justice so, finally got webm converter so I made two small showcases to show off some things. The first one shows off the graphical upgrades I made, the sparkle trail and sparkle disperse, and the hitsparks and the new glowy effect to power stun's charge up hit(All thanks to strifey). it also shows off the beginning of my progress on the "final assault" which is basically the launcher for finishers. Basically like in the base, after a power stun(Z), you have two options to choose to continue from; Stagger(Z) and Pursuit buster(C), Stagger(Z) is the first hit you need to go into to get to final assault(Z), atm it's just the gateway to Fa(C) and really holds no other bearing other than a link between the two, thinking of ideas as to what it should do as a stand alone hit, as it cost 500 power to do(Maybe cause a dizzy or something) if the opponent's health is lower than 200 and you have 2000 power left after Stagger you can go into Final assault(C) by pressing the burst button(C) Pursuit buster(C) I explained before but for those who forgot or just don't know it initializes pursuit attacks(C) which go up to 3 hits (4 to 5 for some others) which leads to my Second Showcase Now that I understand the pursuit code much better I'm able to do variations on them for each player, In the video is a look at kuririn's which is the first one to diverge from the others. It's not too different but I was just testing the waters with him, the others will be much more diverse, and might include ki attacks.I'm still in the swapping systems and adding everyone to it before I can really do more character specific things (Which is why the Final assault is where it is atm) So I won't be able to show too many different variations to pursuits now, but I will when I actually go back to character specific coding, once everyone has the basics in them. ( I have 7 down, 7 more to go) For those confused by the letters in Parenthesis they are for the buttons (C) = c button (Z) = z button
Looking good! Gameplay looks super fun and you can tell you're learning a lot! I think i'm going to send you a finished Night Plains today, as soon as I can find a fitting bird you'll get Day plains.
I changed my mind (Again) about goku's newer hair, gonna bring it back, and make some tweaks, I finished fixing up yamcha's sock issues, after that the second half of adding the system to everyone will begin again. Also Rai tei will be doing gohan and vegetto, so those who were hyped about those two, thank rai for doing them, as I would have cancelled them otherwise. Also, Zero-sennin will be coding 18 for the game.
I love you guys too Look, you're famous!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwzH7eSOwAcWait, ScrewAttack doesn't give credits.....
meh, no way kirby would win, he can't absorb something that strong.Anyway -12-23-14Yamcha's system swap is just about done took longer than the others because A; He didn't already have the system in him to begin with, and B I fixed all his stupid socks. Also debating on giving him air ki shots, as atm, He's the most combo based out of everyone (6 Ground attacks,4 Crouch,4 Jump, more leeway for his combo links than others.) His ground ki tops out at 5 as well, to keep him rounded, so I maybe dropping air ki shots in favor of something else would work. Also debating the specials system There's 2 ways I can go. 1 would be to have it with 2 versions, X and Y variants (they wouldn't necessarily be light and hard versions some would be shorter range more damage, long rang less damage, hit high, hit low etc.) with Z being ex versions of the movesets. or I can go full on with a Low Mid High style with the X Y Z with each button having different styled specials (x be a slide kick or low based special, y be a shoulder charge,or a launcher type and z being an anti air type) with a ex versions being used with two buttons and mixing up attacks ie doing a ex special with x+y would go low to mid launcher, y to z would go mid to anti air etc... Aerial attacks would work a bit the same to a degree, for instance gohan's sonic kick on Low(X) would slash through the opponent with gohan landing on the ground, Mid(Y) would bounce off the opponent knocking them to the ground, and High (Z) I haven't entirely figured out @_@ but it'd vary somehow, ex versions of aerial moves wouldn't work the exact same way as the ground styles but to a degree would be different. When I mean launcher type I mean either setting up for air attacks or being able to link with zanzoken attacks or even pursuit attacks depending on the person. The second route would be more versatile but learning characters might be a bit harder for some with this version, rather than the first style which is more simplistic. And before anyone ask, no I would NOT do both of them :p I myself am leaning towards the second style although it might be a little harder for me, (creatively somewhat) and might hinder some movesets, overall it'll probably be the more fun style to do.Should I make a poll?
Poll's totally up to you, I personally believe you should go with the second route though, while it may be more difficult you said yourself it'll be more fun. Plus it'll be a good learning experience. I'm good with the first option as well. Whatever you're more comfortable with is cool with me!
I think the second option is the best way to go. It would add great variety and distinction to each of your characters. It's similar to how learning characters in Tekken is greatly rewarding when you come to verse them Either way, I really like the gameplay system you got going on. I'm excited to see your future releases
Alright from the votes so far it seems the Low Mid High is the definitive winner, so I'll just drop the poll.
12-26-14 Finished off yamcha's system, took a while but he's finished decided to make some combo vids for him because I'm going to have to tweak some of the other character's speeds to sorta keep up with how awesome yamcha's are. Some of them feel like snails in comparison (I'm looking at you gohan)Supa! Yamcha Combo BeatdownWolf fang Slash combo finishWolf fang Slash combo finish 2I could have gotten a few more hits in the 20 hitter actually but I botched it, I've maxed out at 22 hits. Wolf fang slash is now his Power Ki Attack.18 is up next.(side note, I know some of the hit sparks look off in the jump attacks, not yamcha's fault though :X)
It took me a moment to take the fact that you were referring to yamcha as to being awesome. I sense a new age is dawning.
12-28-14Halfway done with 18's system, her power ki (Disk throw) has 3 versions depending on what direction you pick, she has an anti air version with up, a trip version with holding down, and a mid version for normal one. Thanks to strife for the original code I used. up next is her air ki stuff. On a sidenote not overly happy with the disc effects in general, if someone has better energy disks or knows where I can find some please let me know.
