First try at a fighter for Mugen

Psyke,

A fighter that uses the "slow but strong" characteristic

With several combo's that can infact be chained together, multiple grabs and throws and a heap of humor for the good run.

So far i have completed

Walk
Light punch
Jump
3 Intro's
1 win pose
backgrounds/effects/portraits & icons

[It's in the early stages so be nice  ;)]

Psyke is really a strange name for a character like this.

Anyway, it lacks a bit of shading IMO, but the outlines and general shape of the character is very good, nice job. :)

Ah yes i never stated that the shading would infact be the last thing to do.

As for the name
I couldn't really change it as it was the characters name before mugen even entered into it

thats kinda just the risk i have to take, But it's still fun learning the coding and doing the spriting

While several other people have already said it, this looks great for a first attempt.

I hope that you stick with this project.


BTW: I liked the run. The arms hanging to the side gave it a very wild and animal-like feel.


Do you mean then orange box as in this? :P

Of course iv'e slowed it down and made it pan from left to right, but do you think it really needs that middle frame?

When sped up i hardly notice, and i dont think many others will,

Besides lots of other characters dont have any, take ella for instance

i agree people won't mind and/or even notice. its really personal preference i guess.

foot work is more impressive in my opinion. but your animation looks nice. :sugoi:

Hmm, it looks nice, but doesnt fit it as much

I mean

On the sprites he looks like a lazy relaxed person, there he looks evil

But the one as your avatar looks good. Lazy+psycho=win

i wont be releasing too much info on this obscure little video game hero,
But if you're a fan of the series and know your stuff, feel free to throw some ideas out into the open.  :)

Also fighterfactory is being a dick. so you get pink bg instead of transparency. sorry

i'm tempted to make him high res due to the detail and size of his sprites, what do you think?

Sweet! He needs a Super/Hyper in which he changes his Armour to the Super Armour from Medieval 2, but its your call :)

this was a given from day 1 ofcourse he's gonna have one! :P
also a special where for a temperory amount of time he is alot stronger (( in the form of a boxing match, )) complete with dankenstein, ring bg, and the knockoff rocky music

once the time runs out BAM! it's back to normal form!

Uh hey, just posting to keep you all updated, iv'e finished some minor sprites and such, but not much as i've been a little busy in the home.

I'm awfully tempted to work on another original character for mugen alongside dan, it's more of an experiment so i can try all varying types of coding without making one character seem too mixmatch, more about him later

Now another thing that's been annoying me is dan's crouch



(( besides the obvious right arm )) there's something that kinda bugs me about it.

It actually doesn't look bad.
The arm holding the sword looks especially good.

The only problem that I can see is that he doesn't have an ankle in the final frame.
(I don't really mind the fact that his arm doesn't extend past his leg when in crouch.)

Doesnt look bad, the transition right leg ( his right, our left) changes shape at the ankle , perhaps thinning it out would work.

Welll i lost everything, all the pcx files, but luckily i have them in a large spritelot picture so they should be easy to convert again, i just have to go through the task of animating everything again and sorting out sound files and coding. It may take a while :P

(( on psyke btw ))

Always have one or two backups of everything you have : a USB key, a disc, ftp, whatever.
