I think they can handle a little bit of continental separation. Plus they have a very forgiving climate, relatively tame diseases compared to the rest of the world, and they suffer from literally no natural disasters ever. Seriously, Africa fucking rocks. And even if the continent is breaking apart, each country within Africa has such a good and responsible government, they will band together and fix the problem. Just like we did in the movie Deep Impact (my favorite movie just because of the title).are you really really sure?????? any deadliest viruses ever arise are all coming from the depth of african junggle.K.O.D said, March 12, 2011, 07:24:30 pmsarcasm.yeah, GREAT sarcasm when half the things said are true.-africa is really have no natural disasters other than drought (which can be solved when they make a dam or something)-they do have forgiving climate compared to countries with 4 seasons. they don't have to build well insulated house.-they were indeed having most advanced civilizations like egypt or queen of Sheba from ethiopia -and full with diamond mines
for those of you that bought into the creator of Pokemon dying in the earthquake, Nintendo of America posted on their twitter that no one in Nintendo of Japan died in the earthquake.
now onto somethign more important than stupid videogame shit, what is this I am hearing about the reactor actually exploding ?
They raised the alarm level since it seems like there's a chance of reactor fusion happening. They tried to cool it by flooding the area with seawater but it didn't work.

Google and 15 seconds of actual thought would destroy all of these points. Or am I missing your sarcasm now? I hope the reactor issue gets under control, it's hard to imagine something like a meltdown occurring with all those safety precautions from one of the most advanced countries in the world. I hardly know dick about nuclear technology but I figure if there is any country in the world capable of handling a situation like this it would be Japan. Here is to hoping the news has already reached its worst. It's been pretty painful to watch and read the coverage on everything that's happened so far.
japan products are not highly praised in their durability... I have to start to put my PS1 on its side after sometime to make it read the cds, guess what they purposely make their ps2&3 with straight side cutting, awesome problem solving wasn't it
The most shocking scene to me:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhJzdtzl6KYwhen I was watching this scene, I was totally "O 嗮嘴"!P.S. "O 嗮嘴" means when you wide open your mouth that looks like a big "O"
It's hard to believe, but the buildings are designed to behave that way (anyways that's really creepy).
I don't know if this was posted buthttp://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20110314/wl_asia_afp/japanquaketsunamihttp://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/environment/new-tsunami-warning-as-another-quake-rocks-tokyo-20110314-1bto7.html
it even affected fisherman villages on the northern part of irian/ papua. so it must also hit philipines harder than that, java is well protected, the only thing that will send us to the bottom of the sea are our volcanoes, we have plenty of them
Oh this topic progress slower than I thought Source: http://www.tepco.co.jp/en/press/corp-com/release/11031312-e.html (13th March, very late last night)TEPCO Press Release said:All 6 units of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station have been shut down.Unit 1(Shut down)- Reactor has been shut down. However, the unit is under inspection dueto the explosive sound and white smoke that was confirmed after the bigquake occurred at 3:36PM.- We have been injecting sea water and boric acid which absorbs neutroninto the reactor pressure vessel.Unit 2(Shut down)- Reactor has been shut down and Reactor Core Isolation Cooling Systemhas been injecting water to the reactor. Current reactor water level islower than normal level, but the water level is steady. After fullysecuring safety, measures to lowering the pressure of reactorcontainment vessel has been taken, under the instruction ofthe national government.Unit 3(Shut down)- Reactor has been shut down. However, as High Pressure Core InjectionSystem has been automatically shut down and water injection tothe reactor was interrupted, following the instruction bythe government and with fully securing safety, steps to loweringthe pressure of reactor containment vessel has been taken. Sprayingin order to lower pressure level within the reactor containment vesselhas been cancelled.- After that, safety relief valve has been opened manually, loweringthe pressure level of the reactor, which was immediately followedby injection of boric acid water which absorbs neutron, intothe reactor pressure vessel.Unit 4 (shut down due to regular inspection)- Reactor has been shut down and sufficient level of reactor coolantto ensure safety is maintained.- Currently, we do not believe there is any reactor coolant leakageinside the reactor containment vessel.Unit 5 (outage due to regular inspection)- Reactor has been shut down and sufficient level of reactor coolantto ensure safety is maintained.- Currently, we do not believe there is any reactor coolant leakageinside the reactor containment vessel.Unit 6 (outage due to regular inspection)- Reactor has been shut down and sufficient level of reactor coolantto ensure safety is maintained.- Currently, we do not believe there is any reactor coolant leakageinside the reactor containment vessel.Casualty- 2 workers of cooperative firm were injured at the occurrence ofthe earthquake, and were transported to the hospital.- 1 TEPCO employee who was not able to stand by his own with his handholding left chest was transported to the hospital by an ambulance.- 1 subcontract worker at important earthquake-proof building wasunconscious and transported to the hospital by an ambulance.- The radiation exposure of 1 TEPCO employee, who was working insidethe reactor building, exceeded 100mSv and was transported tothe hospital.- 2 TEPCO employees felt bad during their operation in the centralcontrol rooms of Unit 1 and 2 while wearing full masks, and weretransferred to Fukushima Daini Power Station for consultation witha medical advisor.- 4 workers were injured and transported to the hospital after explosivesound and white smoke were confirmed around the Unit 1.- Presence of 2 TEPCO employees at the site are not confirmedOthers- We are currently coordinating with the relevant authorities anddepartments as to how to secure the cooling water to cool downthe water in the spent nuclear fuel pool.- We measured radioactive materials inside of the nuclear power stationarea (outdoor) by monitoring car and confirmed that radioactivematerials level is higher than ordinary level. Also, the levelat monitoring post is higher than ordinary level. We will continueto monitor in detail the possibility of radioactive material beingdischarged from exhaust stack or discharge canal. The nationalgovernment has instructed evacuation for those local residents within20km radius of the periphery because it's possible that radioactivematerials are discharged.- We will continue to take all measures to restore the security of thesite and to monitor the environment of the site periphery.Although this is serious, it does not help that the media shitstorm is blowing it a bit more out of proportion than required. But then again it's only natural, who can resist a EARTHQUAKE TSUNAMI NUCLEAR EXPLOSION headline?
Maybe China attacking them now that they're weakened [/jk]Thing is, they can say whatever they want, the risk of nuclear disaster is still there. The power plants may be shut down, the temperature is still too hot in some of them without the necessary cooling system, and an accident may appear. It will not be a new Tchernobyl, but still. They already have enough to deal with, concerning the quake + tsunami, so I hope the nuclear problem will be "fixed" soon.
ξ Bastard said, March 14, 2011, 01:13:30 pmMaybe China attacking them now that they're weakened [/jk]Disregarding China, for I see, the last straw now (ignoring all other natural causes) would be for North Korea to "test" one of their missiles. That'll really get the ball rolling on top of all the current mess.
I think the fact that those reactors are/were being flooded with sea water is pretty big, considering that they can't use them again after that, and that's pretty serious considering the money involved in building reactors
Oh joy, more disasters from a volcano.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1366109/Japan-volcano-Earthquake-tsunami-potential-nuclear-meltdown-enough.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
