So I've recently seen Dissidia in stores over here, and saw there's there's a PSP + Dissidia pack...

The concept of the game seems quite interesting, but I already own a DS, so 1 game won't justify buying a new handheld.

I'ma  bit of a cheap bastard, so my game spending is usually restricted to SNK games (between the PS2 and DS those are already covered) and FFXI on the PC.

So, I wonder what new/different things could the PSP possibly bring to the table...

I recall reading that Deuce's Samurai Shodown RPG translation is meant to run on a NeoGeoCD emulator for the PSP, and I suppose there must be a few other emulators that work for it, which sweetens the deal...

I know nothing about PSP software and how custumisable it is... DL stuff, hook PC to PSP with cable, transfer and run/install, or somethin more elaborate?...

Weren't there also news of a new version of the PSP that's supposed to only work with DL'able stuff?... would that make current models obsolete?...


Any info on the handheld and tips on decent games with a long lifespan considering the situation are appreciated.

I really want to get a PSP too, but the anti-homebrew/piracy protection shit drives me away from it and I don't have enough money for it.

My DS gathers dust for 4-5 months until a good game for it comes out, then i finish that and it goes back idle again :P

Samurai Shodown Anthology and KoF Orochi Collection are out on PSP, but they play like an ungodly piece of crap.
Good games IMO (the ones I have at least) are : Fate/Unlimited Code Portable (pretty damn good, much better than the Melty Blood series), Crisis Core FF7 (excellent), Rockman Irregular Hunter X (Megaman Maverick Hunter X, good remake of MMX), Soul Calibur Broken Destiny, Final Fantasy 1 - 2 - Tactics remakes, DBZ Shin Budokai 2, Metal Gear Solid - Final Fantasy 7 - Gensou Suikoden ports, upcoming Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, Sonic Rivals 2 (one of the better recent Sonic games), WipEout Pulse, Tenchu Shadow Assassins (excellent)...

I don't know much about the upcoming PSPGo, and I didn't hack my PSP as I don't really give a damn about it.

Those are supposed to be available for PS2 too (eventually... I'm yet to find them over here...), so they're really not an option for PSP IMO..

If I had a PSP I would want to try Silent Hill Origins and the Armored Core 3 ports.

My GF likes Silent Hill so much she probably already has that one for PS2.

The PSP edition has 2 bonus characters (the guy from FFTA2 is useless and just a Ramza clone but Balthier is really good) and new cutscenes, and the western version of the PSP version got the cinematics dubbed too. Yes, it's worth it, especially if you never played the PSX version.

Unfortunately Dissidia doesn't let you pick the voices, no. At least the dubbing is good enough, even if not as good as the Japanese version.

Oh, I dunno how her VA is, I'm not there yet on the European version, haven't spent much time on it (since I already finished the Japanese version ages ago, I'm not in a hurry to see the story...)

Dynasty warriors strikeforce would be a reason why i would get a psp along with the mentioned dissidia and crisis core.

Not many psp games to really justify like you said.

You can undub the american version (Replacing the american audio with japanese).
Of course that means using custom firmware and stuff.

I totally forgot, Crisis Core ( I think thats the name? The ff with Zack) seemed to be pretty nice. ( Even if i hated the "gackt" thing they had going on )

The dragonball games were also nice.
