I think it's dumb that only staff members, the people that won Vans's contest years ago and some completely random guys have acces to custom titles.
I think it was a good idea and motivated people to do stuff, but I don't think they should last forever. This is probably a pretty good time to start removing them; we can then use that star for another contest or something.

Wow. Take it easy man. It's not that serious. Really.
I said a few sentences. It's not that serious, why would you think that? It's not like a typed out an essay about the evils of commercialism or something, I just wanted to say that it was never designed nor meant to show off gay pride, so using that as a justification for keeping it was ridiculous. C'mon.

Same here, I found it funny and for random instances only since always... but a "gay" star to mock users?? OMG, I've never seen like that, I've been fooled all my forum life here :-X
Did you read literally any of the posts in this thread besides that one.

Of course I did JM, as Drex said (the reason why I quoted him), I always thought that star was an innocent joke just for fun too until I read this thread

Except no one said this star was supposed to be a gay star to mock users. Only that specific users were assimilating it to a gay pride, and then others non-gay people began assimilating it with that too. Just because some people have joked about that, it doesn't mean that's what it's supposed to be.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

you can blame bia for that, it was only a random start atributed to a random user as a simple joke; it landed on bia once and bia liked it enought to ask for it; nobod saw any harm on that, foolish they were as it created the biggest flamewar in mugen since mc2 asked for personman to be demoded.

Still no sign of Val yet. He tends to come online once a week.

Speaking of the special member status, what ever happened to what that status used to be? Long ago the special member was someone that used to be on the moderator's staff. They still had access to the staff boards but not the moderation tools of a moderator. It's pretty silly to think about now. So it's obvious why it was removed. Probably removed when Guild wiped the forums and changed policies in 2006.

on that same vein i think it's dumb that character of the month and character of the year stars last a month and a year respectively while weird contest winner is eternal. it gives me the idea that winning a weird quiz thing is more important than making the best character in a 365 day period

Except what it is supposed to be is a terrible incentive to be an idiot

Word up

We should do special stars based on how much you can argue in a drama thread

Sure, remove the Rainbow star.

Just give me back my Gay Wigga star in the process, please.
If I can't be the best, I sure as hell can be the worst.

That bothers me tbh, I always thought it was kind of dumb that the COTM winner star has to get passed around, would be nice if every winner could keep it you know? It's not really that easy to win that contest...

Also not to mention some people didn't even get that star at all because SOMEONE forgot to pass it around.
