So, my .CNS file always gets deleted from my .DEF file.To make it clearer, I type Dark.cns in cns = and then I save it, so I won't have to type it again, ok...But when I open my .DEF file again it isn't there, almost as if I HADN'T saved it. So, I checked if my .CNS file was in my Dark file, and it was.So, once again, I type Dark.cns in my .DEF file's cns = and save, close, open. It's not there. So, I then edit my .CNS file, then save it then, then open it and it was still there. So I once again went to my .DEF file's cns = and typed Dark.cns then saved, closed, opened. Once again, it wasn't there! So I am confused of why this happens!! I can't find a reasonable solution so I am now asking if you guys now why this happens!!! Please help.
Unless you're using notepad to save the file, try editing via notepad then save.Otherwise, try using "save as".
Are you using Fighter Factory or a particular program to edit your DEF file ?As said, for the DEF file, use Notepad, you don't need anything more.
Assuming the file is not read only? Shouldn't be. If you use FF to edit the .def then yes, it gets wiped out. If you're using notepad there is no reason for the file to vanish.Create new text document. Copy contents of .def to new text document. Save, close. Delete old .def file. Rename new text document to your .def file. Make sure file extensions are visible.
If you're ONLY coding in notepad you're doing something wrong. Mugen does NOT remove files from the .def. It'll throw an error but it won't delete them. FF will delete lines, but only if you first insert them in FF without the file there. This is you. We can't provide any more info than say "mugen doesn't do that". Your problem with notepad has never been experienced by anyone. Ever.
WulfHound said, July 25, 2011, 03:27:44 amI use notepad...I rarely use FF, but other than those 2, what else would I use?We have apparently established he is not using fighter factory to edit his def file. Unless he's lying in this post that's probably not going to help.
Are you able to save a basic file with notepad?Try opening a new notepad file...type whatever you want in it...Click "save as" and save it as a .txt file. (Save the file multiple times in different places.)If the file is still deleted then..... Software problem with notepad maybe?Or perhaps its some other problem in your computer....Anyways, if it works, try saveng it as one of the mugen file extentions and see if it works then.
