retro/older creation of the month?

Busy, busy, busy

I'm not sure how to go about voting/nominating, but it seems unfair that thousands of creations(some actually good) fall into the past while the new stuff takes center stage. People are missing out on some good creations unless they get an update. So I was thinking why not nominate 100 or so and gradually vote down to 12 for the final round? Creations would need to be over a certain age(5 years?) To be entered. Stages/sps could be an option to. Anyone else think this is an ok idea?

That takes too much effort for old, outdated creations when we should be focusing on the new contributions to our community imo

I considered "creation of the decade" or "best creation in mugen", but it wouldn't go well. Oh well

the idea is good on paper, but the logistics kill it. what if the ol creation has multiple versions ? what if it needs updating to work properly in mugen 1.0 ? who is gonna organize all that ? the more I think about it, the more cons appear.

Create a "Blast from the past: review thread" where you review old stuff, it will do more for getting some old stuff some deserved attention than what any "award" could.

I think more than "month", this could be done by "year", making like a honorific COTY for every year MUGEN creations has been released (and of course, has to be compatible with WinM/1.0+... if not, a patch should be made for them), only counting the date was made (not the updates).

I don't know, maybe this could be done in/since Guild's anniversary month, IMO

Hmmm... How about we do a yearly contest that's themed?? There's character of the year and now stage of the month. So when we have our yearly contests/nominating/voting/etc., how about a themed release comes into play alongside the regular stuff?? Like best platforming style character entry or best worst game of all time stage release entry. That way, we would still have our regular yearly contests with that extra wildcard thrown in for good measure. It would allow for creators to think a little differently to push out new content.

Too many awards make winning one of them less special, imo.

Trivia: There was an atempt to do the 'best characters of the decade' some 5 years ago. It went nowhere.
