@davismaximus: yea i really like blagoys move ideas he just doesnt have the coding chops to properly implement all this great stuff he wants to do. i have high hopes hell continue to improve
davismaximus said, December 05, 2014, 05:21:11 amI tried out all the suggestions and here's some mini-reviews if anyone cares*:Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty-Batman by Cybaster: Can't believe I forgot about him. The only "problem" with him would be that his sprites don't match the other comic characters in the Mugen scene. The gameplay waaaay more than makes up for it though. Keeper.-Batman by Alucard/RMH: Definite improvement over the original, but still pretty rough around the edges. Good ideas hampered by less than stellar execution both with sprites and coding. This is one of the main reasons I commissioned Sean to do a new set of sprites for Bats. Pass.-Dr. Fate by O Illusionista: Some cool ideas with obviously great coding by Big O. My biggest gripe are the obvious frankensprites (so many Magneto animations) and mix of low and hi-res effects. His stance looks really unnatural and painful too. Keeper, but I hope the sprites get updated.-Steel by Bizarro Toro: Good gameplay and sprites. Some obvious frankensprites (I sense a trend here), but the gameplay makes up for it. Interesting moves and good execution. That backwards "S" when he's on P2 side bothers me more than it should. Keeper.-Despero by Peterpl and Alexziq: Probably my 2nd favorite on the list besides Cy's Batman. Sprites/animations are a little bit choppy, but he's plays well and has some fairly interesting moves. Keeper.-Hawkman by ZVitor: I haven't tried a character by ZVitor in a while. As much as I liked his take on characters, there always seemed like there was that little "extra" missing. Hawkman definitely feels like a step in that direction. Cool ideas mixed with good coding, gotta love that grab Hyper. Keeper.-Major Force by Blagoy: Like Ume said, kinda sucks but he's getting there. Sprite bases are pretty obvious, but has some cool move ideas. Coding could use some work. Pass for now.-Luke Cage by Trexell: Chunky gameplay and the sprites, while not just being Sagat in Luke Cage cosplay, leave much to be desired. The moves he has are kind of boring to begin with. Plus, like Ryoucchi said, he's Marvel, not DC. Pass.-Bane by Jmaxx and Alexiq: Choppy, frankensprited animations don't look very good and a pretty pedestrian move list (manhole cover fireball?). Alex in a lucha libre mask. Pass. Thanks again for the suggestions everybody, glad to add a few new characters in.*they don'tThis was helpful, thanks mate
Had to re-defined my current roster. Now it's acceptable for display. Keep in mind, I have a secret roster, also unseen.lol
Believe it or not I've been adding/removing stuff. Also considering changing this screenpack if I find another that suits me.
So this is pretty much what my normal MUGEN looks like atm. I've grown bored of the whole CvS/Pots thing and I'm trying to keep those to a minimum unless the spritework or coding particularly interest me (hence Skullo/Morrigan/Robert, though I am thinking about throwing Jmorph's Kim in there because who doesn't love a good Kim). Lately I've been having a lot more fun using more unique characters like SD Bluestreak, Veanko's Sonic stuff, and Gladiacloud's assorted stuff, as well as a few others like the Kakuges, Aiduzzi, Black Heart, etc. So if you have any suggestions of anything fun and unique that is a breath of fresh air from the norm, please give them. (Though preferably no doujin fighter stuff like Melty Blood or Arcana Heart, idk if they fall into the same category but you get the idea).
Oh right, Uppercut. Fond memories of him kicking my ass. He must've gotten lost between all the roster changes. Thanks for reminding me of him.
Finally updated my 1.1 setup.Only adding exclusive 1.1 characters and later those with 1.1 patches such as stages. It was a placeholder to see how much 1.1 stuff are there before moving to a smaller roster screenpack with custom portraits. I personally like this for easier management compared to my WinMugen+ roster. Also updated my KOF 1.0 roster but the layout is the same.
FINALLY gave my remaining rosters a much needed overhaul.WinMugen+ roster I've been using since I started getting active in '07, or was in '08? It's beyond a proper display but the least I can do is positioning to make it less messy. Question marks are for placements.Edited the roster size screenpack for the sake of adding more characters. The last two rows in the center are for those just extracted and for testing. Next step is to fix the display name parts.Mugen 1.0 main roster that I finally got the chance to clean up.An minor edit of EX Shadow's screenpack to squeeze it a bit more characters, removed the roster BG until I fix the display for the bars.Current KOF roster, minor character placements. Thinking of adding some custom stuff since it looks more or less ready.I'm all set for 2015.
