Long time ago, Yamakichi released probably the only good Saint Seiya character in MUGEN history, which is Aiolia. Voices in japanese (not the horrible latin spanish voices), balanced gameplay (though it still needed some work)... something completely different compared to the other releases made by the spanish community.

So probably I'm asking something that doesn't really need an answer, but apart from Yamakichi, did someone else create a decent Saint Seiya character?

AFAIK nope, there are some full game projects that look promising like the god warriors one

the only other saint seiya character that i remember that could be used in a regular mugen was babel made by some french guy (krauser-somehting) and even he was kinda broken but playable IMO (if you ever find me let me know, k?)

there was a group working on a galaxian wars full game and also releasing individual characters for regular mugen (even released several stages for mugen 1.0 and announced those releases here) but their work is pretty mediocre

and then there is the "underground" saint seiya community that only re-edit the same characters over and over again with full screen supers and super backgrounds with lots of color loss

the saint seiya mugen community has to be the worse of all the mugen communities out there

Legendary God Warrior has a lot of potential (I know, I have the alpha). Graphics are wonderful, and the gameplay is not too bad for now. Still needs a lot of work, but it can really be nice.

I used to collect SS chars back in the day too. My god they were horrible. Some of them had fine graphics though, such as Aiolia or the Scorpion.

Also, one of the friends of the Legendary God Warrior team is making this. Has a lot of potential :

@Bastard Wolf

You got it right. It's Babel by Lord Krauser. Since it appears to be offline, I will have to request it.

Also, I checked that Saint Seiya project you commented:

Looks ok, I guess.

It's not impossible to create a balanced SS character. You sort of have to tone down the projectiles a bit and definitely cut-out a bit of the animation startup that people put on the special moves. I mean, I get it. It's nice to see Seiya move his hands towards every star in the pegasus constellation the first, but not no much after the 50th time.

Here's a quick Seiya sprite I put together originally... It's only a single sprite though, since I'm sure no one'd be interested in coding him ;P

It's based on Kurumada's design, of course. Not Shingo Araki's (who I think is great, but it's the one EVERYONE ELSE is using).

I'm still gonna finish it sometime, just for fun.

I don't think the problem is about projectiles, since in theory some characters shouldn't even have one (It's not DB, after all). But I agree with the animations. I still remember that Hyoga I tested a long time ago. It was retarded to see a move take like more than 5 seconds just to launch it.

But those aren't the only problem. The problem is that people wants to make the characters as they see them in source, without balancing them. And obviously, they come overpowered as hell. And of course, they don't care about problems/errors the character has, they only care about releasing them. So obviously, the results are terrible in nearly all the cases. If only they got more love from good creators like it happened with DB :'(

And that stupid spanish voices. I'm spanish, and I hate them. Seriously. I would rather prefer to listen it in Japanese or English.

When I mentioned projectiles I was talking about balance, yeah. It's the first thing that stands out whenever you download a Saint Seiya Mugen Character. I can't think of one that doesn't have at least ONE special move where they throw a billion Meteor Fists or Lightning Plasma. All of this taking place for at least 15 seconds. Oh, and the attacker is also invulnerable to attack during all of this :D

Seriously. I would rather prefer to listen it in Japanese or English.

The latin-american dub holds a special place in my heart.

I don't know which English version you're referring to, to be honest. The english version released in Cartoon Network by DiC was absolute shit.

I still prefer the Japanese version over any of these, of course.

Oh and just consider that Hyoga belongs to a new wave of "upgraded and improved" Saint Seiya characters. While the rest are something like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4sm7XcbHpU&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qout2HpbAJw&feature=related

And this is something that wasn't made by the "underground" community so it doesn't rely on stolen content, full screen FX with tons of color loss, etc. So it's the best you could get.... and it's still pretty BAD:

And even if you still want it:
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty
Aaand they pretty much have a good reason to be so anal about their work, oh well. BTW, remember that Evangelion full game? ... No? well, they made it.

And this is the game Cybaster and I were talking about:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Krf3-7BC-qw
Most likely coming around the same time as Card Sagas.

I removed many SS chars I remember many was bad or broken gameplay..

there is some good, like Pizzaman's Geminis...
I remember an article in Street Mugen about the Saint Seiya thing in Mugen...and remember too I downloaded a Pegasus from Mugenciclopedia...when that worked...if that char had more work would be a really good, but was not enough bad..just some..incomplete...
here I found this:

Every time I hear people talk about Seiya, I can't help but think of Vyx. His Seiya was pretty bad.

He's done for me. If anything, I'll update him to 1.0 to have variable AI and add fun winquotes, but that's about it.
Still stuff to do for Goky, but later.
I know people are still waiting on the Coruscation update. One day maybe.
And Vegeta ... yeah, I have to start on him. ::)
And I'm fixing stages for 1.0 too.

OMG SO MUCH THINGS TO DO !!! :woeh:

I see a Hyoga video, and it uses Japanese voices. That's already a huge improvement, seriously.

Unfortunately, quality of the characters is :gonk:

I'm not expecting anything good from Hyoga, after checking all of their characters (hosted and not hosted).

Hello all, if you let me give some infos to you guys:

About languages for voices, we always use original japanese, best choice indeed. And for some creations, we add (or contibutors) separated language files to download (for those who cares).

About "quality" of chars, well, it's a fact available ones have weaknesses , in the code as well as graphics.

I'm sorry you're expecting nothing 'bout Hyoga, at least graphicaly!
Please you all remember we have NO sprites ripped. I'ts all hand drawn and we're pretty happy with new design (as for Hyoga)
Thanks for feedback anyway.

Actually a new coder as joined the team and they works hard to make you all forget that bad reputation SSeiya's chars had.
