Well, if each Gold Saint is supposed to give off their own atmosphere (Aldebaran is eating and swings his Great Horn like a matador, Camus is all ice, Aiolia is insane), then it won't really be out of place if it keeps changing anyway (I hope the OST keeps up with those changes, I like what I've seen in all the trailers). I hate musicals and Disney songs, but it can work if he just looks creepy enough (he crushes one of the masks and the others look horrified and Deathmask is like "oh well, tough shit"). Again, in the fight, the rest of his attitude was compared to Deathtoll from Next Dimension (a big comic relief). Considering that Deathmask ends up in his underwear and he has a big tattoo.

Ah, speaking of the OST, the tracklist is here and on iTunes with a demo.

I just watched the athena trailer, man she is back to the annoying level she had in the start of the bronze arc.

Well it's the same arc so yeah. But what bothers me is that she's all "high school girl who discovers her destiny but doesn't want it" --
(quick translation of what she says : "Why do I have to run away ? That's weird, something's wrong ! There's no reason I should be killed, and there's no reason I should run away either !")
-- and that just pisses me off (in the manga she already knew she was Athena right from the start, and even when she learned about it, she embraced it, though she was a "princess bitch" for a while). I'm hoping she pulls her act together soon enough (in that discussion over the bridge, between Aiolia's first attack and Ptolemy's arrow) and goes more goddess mode rather than "random schoolgirl who wants to be normal but pretty boys keep fighting over her" (which is what this voice makes me think of so far).

not only that, but that is the direction the franchise has been taking lately, wish fulfillment for young girls.

This is absolutely hilarious. Except for Aphrodite's fans. That's all we see of him.

i haven't really payed much attention to this but i just watched the trailers and i must say that as a CG movie it looks really impressive but as a saint seiya movie it's a slap in the face (specially atfer the trainwreck that was omega)

but i'd be lying if i say i wasn't interested and would watch it anyway

>athena's hair is long at the beginning but she has it short when they arrive at sanctuary
DAT CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! :datass:

Fine, but don't blame me !

AWAKEN MY MASTERS!!

thread bump because i just watched this movie today.

i had no idea this movie was coming to my country (for one because as you know i don't keep up with the news, not even for things i care about and second because i honestly forgot this movie existed)

i was on my way to work and noticed on the movie listing they had outside a mall "knights of the zodiac" (in spanish of course) and i was like "WHA-...!?" specialy since like i mentioned i had forgotten about this movie. anyway, i was able to leave work early and went straight to watch it.

now i don't know if anyone else has seen this movie since this thread was dead and i don't remember anyone talking about it on the anime thread so hould i post spoilers?

what i can say is that as a form of entertainment it was good. it had comedy (though it got way too silly at times, mostly seiya, he acted like someone straight out of a disney movie... and lets nor forget the musical talent of deathmask). the action scenes were pretty cool and tehre was some actual fist fights which is something saint seiya gradualy stopped having pretty much after the galactic tournament.

but as a saint seiya movie it could have been better. MUCH better. for starters the movie was only 90 minutes long so it felt rushed and many characters had shit screentime or did nothing. honeslty i would have no problems at all with all the changes this movie did to the original material if it had been longer and at least did the important battles right. but the battles that did happen were cool (most of them)

in short, it was a fun movie and if you don't midn the changes made to the original story and the very compressed story then got for it. now, if you are a puritan who doens't like the changes or think episode g "looked gay" or that omega was the worst that happened to saint seiya since the steel saints (... and it was, but not for the reasons people like you think) ... or that DBZ battle of the gods was the worst DBZ movie then this movie is not for you.

I'm on this side this time (retire the part that DBZ Battle Of The Gods is the worst DBZ movie ;P). I REALLY prefer the original Saint Seiya Sanctuary Saga. I didn't like some changes in this movie, mainly the story. The only three things that gain my attention are:
1. The new concept of the armors.
2. The CG art.
3. The voice acting (in that case, i talking about the voice acting in Brazil, awesome as always been in Saint Seiya).
But sadly, this movie is bad. And people from Brazil really were expected more about Legend Of Sanctuary, since the review in many brazilian journals and sites aren't satisfying.

well, while we are in the subject of dubbing the (latin) spanish dub for this movie was excellent. specialy since they used 98% of the same cast for the original tv series dub.

the only two saints that i don't know if they had the same VAs were shaka and aphrodite because i don't remember what their original voices sounded like. and the character that had a completely new voice were tatsumi whose character was changed from the yakuza-looking butler to something that first the modern japanese men more (read as: a wimpy doormat). and milo aka best gold saint when saga is not in the room whose voice was diferent because: a) his original va for the dub died some years ago and b) milo is a girl in this movie because... REASONS

maybe they changed milo's gender just to mess with the fujoshis pairing him with camus

That happend in Brazil too, but thanks a general petition of fans that wants the original voice casting from the anime series (not counting Milo).

I watched the movie. It's not as bad as many people make it look like. But the problem I find is... you can't try to tell the full Sanctuary Arc with just a 93 minute movie (and this is considering this is Saint Seiya's longest movie since Legend of the Crimson Youth). I personally feel they could have covered it better if the movie was at least 30 minutes longer, since...

Yeah, this movie was never made with the intention of retelling (or even properly rebooting) the full thing, it's just a technical demonstration, so the script is more of a summary. The Harlock movie was also vastly different from the original series, and simply kept the main themes, but that went a bit better since Harlock is no stranger to having many different versions of the same story.
As for myself I think they could easily pull an Advent Children Complete and throw an extended version to flesh up some characters, give them a couple more scenes (Aphrodite, Shaka, maybe some quick flashbacks on training sessions for the Bronzes to give us an idea...), even if it's not all fighting.

Not that there's any chance Toei would care to do something like that. Apparently they did think that the movie was successful in what they tried to do, at least.
