Stage name: sakura no niwa (sakura garden)
who's stage Tsumiko

Animation: flowing water under bridge, sakura petals falling.

Stage for my fullgame project....

What will change in the full release (When full game is done)
Bound left allows player to stray slightly into the barrier but only a lil. :P that will changel --;
sakura petals vanish half way down screen. (if i find a way to fix this i will)
waterfall as bg will be animated.
in the final version there is another bridge visible in the distance

The  alternative version Night of the fireflies.

This is probably my most advanced stage yet,  it took me 3 days to complete.
I had to find a new way to animate the water too since I couldn't find any good hi res animated water textures. So I ended up doing it in maya too.

I believe there's a code that makes shadows not appear after a certain distance, and you probably need to apply it.

The character's shadows go off the bottom of the bridge in a rather unnatural way.

thats a minor issue, and there is no code to stop the shadow half way. but you can change it by altering the shadow scale factor by - (etc)

 ;This is the scale factor of the shadow. Use a big scale factor
 ;to make the shadow longer. You can use a NEGATIVE scale factor
 ;to make the shadow fall INTO the screen.
 ;Defaults to 0.4 if omitted.
yscale = .3

Nononono, I was'nt refering to Tsumiko about the new character, I meant that heavymetal rockstar skeleton like figure on one of the screenshots.

Tsumiko I know, he(she?) was the ninja using drunkenfist style...

Ben, as usual this is another KILLER STAGE! Just beautiful! ...and the music blends so well.
Great job on that.

Now for feedback.
- I find that your character placement is way too low. Don't know if its a standard on your fullgame but for the sake of mugen globalization I changed it to zoffset = 182 and it looks like this.
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

- The shadow issue mentioned earlier needs to be tackled otherwise it looks unrealistic and bad. There's quite a few ways you could do this, the easiest being changing the shadows to appear behind the characters, but since I see you want them right beneath their feet I came up with the following alternative keeping in mind the zoffset values I applied.

[Shadow]
intensity = 96
color = 0,0,0
yscale = .176
fade.range = -50,-5

With the above code your shadows do not go under the bridge any more, even when characters jump.
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

- With 3D stages parallax is even harder to get right. In this stage it is very loose, so that's another thing you may want to correct...but hey, I've seen way worse.
- and the last issue I know you already mentioned here, but I just wanted to show a reference screenshot of what it looks like with the zoffset values I applied. You may want to cut that right edge some so this doesn't happen.
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

I look forward to your fullgame and more of your amazing creations.

thanks for the feedback, I prefer your character placement and will definately use that in the final version. The shadow code also looks better then my standard one. Also for the paralaxing what would you suggest because no matter how much I raise or lower it the BG paralax always seems to have a slight lag effect and repeat the background during certain ranges of the delta.

also in the actuall sff file, their is a railing that you can add in with delta.
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty
copy this code in front of the other delta code and the railings appear, I found that it obstructs the view of the fight but you can always add transparency to it if you want.

Speaking of characters, how's the chatting about Shishiko?

shishiko is a cool character but as you know I got tons of stuff to do for my project so anything else will come last.

This is probably my most advanced stage yet,  it took me 3 days to complete.

Haha, 3 days to me doesn't seem long to have done all that good work!

3 days is a very long time for me i normally get them done in a day. ;D

Ben, I think that if you correct your tile code to tile = 2, 0 in many instances a lot of issues with the images duplicating should dissapear, but if you comment it on EVERY BG element you will find that to the right edge also your bridge will dissapear, so you may need to insert a few more deltas.

I'm not really a pro when it comes to 3D stages, just know how they kinda work so I really can't help you with the parallax issue. Sorry. Try asking MacX though.

  • Could you use a negative value for the scale factor, so that the shadows fall INTO the screen, where there is more room, and adjust the fade.range so that the shadows disappear before going off of the higher edge of the bridge?
  • I just figure that with all of the shadows and reflective lights in the stage itself, the shadows won't look  awkward at all falling into the screen.
  • Also, when you move as far to the left of the stage as possible, the post at the end of the bridge splits into 3 posts.
