this thing became quite popular so let's talk about ithttp://www.saltybet.com/this site lets you bet (fake money of course) on fights during big tournaments. but when there are no tournaments on, it's random mugen matches controlled by AI. i've had a lot of fun with this thing, guessing which character will end up winning (be it through better AI coding or being plain broken). what are your thoughts. is this a good thing that could potentially bring in new people to the community or will it damage and destroy mugen forever
Ive been following it and its really fun, specially with friends around to discuss the matchups, always a heap of fun to see the crowd erupt into a Dragonclaw chant or see them comment on absurdly broken characters.Kinda wish whoever is setting up the chars would pick up more varied stuff and get rid of some of the older stuff, ive seen stuff from ten years ago show up in fights without proper pals or floating up into infinity ( at the amusement of the crowd )
far too much DBZ and evil ryus to my liking but it's interesting at times, for sure. i usually have to end up blocking the stream chats ('neodio is a jojo character don't bet on him', 'BETTING ON ANIMU TITS' and so forth) but it's fun at small doses when they bring out the more interesting match-ups, such as tsugumi from dragoon might fighting a shitty saint seiya character from years ago with really loud italian dub audiowhat's incredibly surreal is seeing your own creations show up, and apparently some of them becoming fan favorites and being entered in tournaments. apparently even the moderator of the stream (i'm guessing he's not the only one?) told a friend of his to tell me that every single character of mine he'd bet on. so...yeah....it's certainly a bizarre trip for me
My older non updated chars are in it. The shame I feel has no limit(even though since they are outdated I have nothing to be ashamed of)
dude needs to fix his nijikaku characters, they were badly ported and leave a clone behind ( also zero AI ) which is a shame.
It's certainly better than loading up watch mode when I'm bored. I just wish there'd be newer stuff and characters that are updated, not broken,or have no AI. A whole lot less DBZ wouldn't hurt as well.
Not much different from what some of us normally do other than the betting system.Do they take suggestions? Figured some of us could point them some crazy or interesting characters to use.
I started watching it recently because it's just hilarious seeing buggy shit happen and broken characters getting away with stuff. Also things like:MelvanaInChains said, August 06, 2013, 06:28:58 pmtsugumi from dragoon might fighting a shitty saint seiya character from years ago with really loud italian dub audio
I wonder how he's set it up to communicate with his website and twitch channel. It's really well done.
i watch it when people on irc do. never really got the appeal of betting on watch mode people sometimes do before thisit is interesting to see this much interest in mugen even if its just casual though
so as if this whole thing wasn't otherworldly enough, fucking jeff gertsmann from giantbomb mentions alter amiba and praises how inventive and interesting it is (around 2:10:00)am i dreaming or something
It's fascinating watching all of these shitty DOSMugen DBZ characters fight each other and watching an entire chat go bananas over it
This is addicting but I lost a lot of money already for beting more than I should.. :-( I suck at this
