Recently buying the Samurai Shodown PS2 collection, I'm finding that I'm enjoying Samurai Shodown 1 and 2 the best.  From SS3 on, it just doesn't feel the same with the addition of all the sub systems, and complicated moves.

My favorite part of the series is that the battles are really slowed down, possibly the pinnacle of the type of gameplay that made every hit count as opposed to the combo focus on todays games.

Incidentally, my favorite one is SS3. Mainly because it's fast paced, too bad it's broken as hell and every CPU opponent has SNK Boss Syndrome.

I'm quite curious about what you're all saying about the 3rd game. The only SS game I have is the second. So I don't understand how such a good game turned bad in the third release. Why did that happen?

Basically because of this. But SS3 brought the definitive design will have all the sequels with a cool shading. Every time I tried to play this game, I can't pass from 2nd enemy, no matter how many credits I have :-\

I always liked Jubei, that I lost interest in SS3 when it came out. Also, the game is pretty disappointing with the endings.

I like SS2 Jubei the most (my main in SS2).  Good think NRF has converted and released a decent SS2 Jubei

You mean that one which drop the sword and have some SS1 voices? That one is disappointing, doesn't make sense and is overpowered and specially when he loses the sword. I got really mad with Jubei absence in SS3. If SNK stopped giving too much focus in KOF, then we could have Samurai Showdown with decent new titles, SS2 is a classic, but we cannot just close the door for the future, right? Nobody can expect what we can have in the future, but SNK must do their part, which is difficult to happen so soon.

Samurai Shodown eh? Interesting. The Samurai Shodown Series has one of my favorite characters in there. :D

Samsho 1: I haven't really played it in a long time. All I remember is trying to hit the guy with a hard slash with Haohmaru and Wan-Fu having a scimitar. I should replay it sometime since I have the rom. :P

Samsho 2: It's pretty much the Street Fighter 2 of the Samsho series. I mean it's pretty straight forward. I mean it's pretty fun, but I only really use Cham Cham in there. Respect the classics yo.

Samsho 3: I've heard all around that it's broken and just silly. The AI in the game is just plain annoying. I do like the palettes on the characters though. A few cool things about Samsho 3 though is everyone got new sprites and they added new characters like Basara, Shizumaru, Gaira Zankuro(even though he's a boss), and Rimururu who is my favorite character in the series. I really don't like the whole charging to fill your rage gauge in Samsho 3 though(it was optional to do that I know).

Samsho IV: A hell of a lot better than 3 in my opinion and they added Kazuki and Sogestsu. I won't lie when I say I actually do like the chain dial up combo thing, but I don't like the fact that it fills up the rage gauge with a full combo because that's too silly, but I still abuse it anyways...and Rimururu's infinite. I do think it's neat that everyone gets a powered up version of some of their moves when their rage gauge is filled. I mean the game is fun, but it can get pretty silly. Oh well I still find it pretty fun. Also, I'm still sad that Cham Cham was only in the PSX version of Samsho IV. She was pretty awesome in there, but you could only use her in VS mode. :(

Samurai Shodown V: Funny thing about this is Vanilla V was the second samsho game I played because before that, the last Samsho I played was the first one on the SNES in like 94 or 95. I only really played it through with Rimururu and Mina who is another character I like, but thats about it. It's too bad you couldn't fight the boss version of Gaoh in V Special which is lame. It's too bad Yumeji didn't make it into V Special, but Sankuro can eat a dick.

Samurai Shodown V Special: I really do enjoy this one so I'm not even gonna lie and it's the Samsho game I play the most. I mean the game does have some silly stuff in it, but I enjoy playing it and it added some more character in it so that's pretty neat I suppose. I really do like the gameplay in there though. The Zetsumi Ougi's are cool and all, but if your playing against someone that knows how to play, then your gonna be landing them. ZO's are sometimes a good counter for someone that goes into state of nothingness because you can catch em when they're trying to attack you. I wish they would have released final edition though because it would have had all the characters from Samsho 1 - V. I still find it funny how Examu(Yuki Enterprises) went from developing Samsho V and V Special to making Arcana Heart. Talk about weird.

I tried Samsho VI a little bit, but due to lag with the PS2 emu, I couldn't play it to the fullest extent so I don't really have an opinion. The only thing I really wanted to see is some of the things my favorite characters had and thats about it. I don't like Mina and Rimururu's voice change in there though.

I recently tried Samsho 2 on the Neo Geo Pocket and...well not much to say. It's nothing to be taken seriously, but it's pretty neat I suppose. You can collect cards that up your attack boost, defense boost, and two cards that can give your character access to two more special moves. You can only use two cards though.

I kinda tried Samsho 64 Warrior's Rage on mame 32UI, but it's still incomplete so not much to say. As for Samsho 64, the warrior's rage on PSX(which is not related to the arcade version), and Sen...well never played em. I would only buy Sen for the lulz just to see how bad it is since it's hella cheap now. XD

I would like to play the Samsho RPG, but Deuce never released the english patch. :(

I hope the next Samsho game SNK makes will be good, but who knows if that will ever happen now. : \
