I recently watched a compilation of Samurai Spirits fatalities.
To say the least, I was quite interested, as well as motivated to try to make one myself.
I had a little bit of free time today, so I worked a little on one.

I just Frankensprited a custom character, sprited a move, found some fatality sprites, and added blood.
Lots of blood. [size=5pt]Blood for the Blood God[/size]

It's pretty simple, but I like it.
(People have already commented on the color of the blood. I plan to change it later.)

pretty sweet. but i feel like the splatters on screen could be done better.

I didn't think it was that bad until people started commenting on it.
I'm making it more red right now.


Besides the brown blood, how is the rest of it?

My only concern was the abruptness with which the upper body hits the ground.

Well, the edit with the blue hair, looks odd.
The upper body doesn't match the legs, and is postioned weird.

Yeah.
It pauses on an awkward sprite.

Some other sprites looked better I thought.

It uses Yoshitora's legs, so the stance is a little odd to begin with.


Right before he stops moving, the sprite actually looks a little more natural.


But if you notice, the same legs are used in both sprites, which are facing different directions.
I'm not really sure how it worked.  :P

I think a diagonal up slash would benefit the fatality a lot. Otherwise just minor things from me a guess maybe a gust of wind before the blood splatter etc (would make it seem a lot more like the old samuri movies), also maybe the guy in the red should drop the sword left in his hand before the remainder of his body falls to the ground.

Most of the stuff i said was preference i guess but if your going for samuri then you should add more samuri elements... Maybe even a leaf blowing in the wind

The blood burst actually came from Samurai Spirits.
(It has an abundance of sprite blood. :))

The blood spatter , I've had for a while.
I can't even remember where it came from.
But I thought I'd try it out.

I think a diagonal up slash would benefit the fatality a lot.
I would if I thought I could easily do so.
But for now I'm going to stick with the theory that the attack was too fast to see.  ;)

Unless of course you meant a seperate slash sprite.
One that would not require the character to make an additional movement during the dash.

Yeah.
The last sprite is awkward, and the movements are abrupt.
Perhaps I could tweak it a little so that the hair kind of flutters as the opponent falls.

As well as the addition of some clothing movement.

About that...

Ukyo's dash was used for the sprite.

Because the sprites moves by so quickly, I just see it as blur.
If anything, I wanted the blue to represent the high speed of the attack.

Ohhhh...
Let's see here.

I got the blood from  Yumeji (The character you see dying) by Taruse

The other blood, as I said, I just had.
It probably came from a character I no longer have.

That looks hella lot better.
I know who Yumeji is :omg:
If you want it true samsho style, make the upper body part blink away, and not just fall on the ground.
It looks better the way it is now tho.
The blood (not the screen blood) look as it have wrong colors. =/

Yeah it looks better without the blnking but still....
