Interesting read if you're truly in the dark on what the true author intention is.

As a Christian Catholic, many things make sense to me. But trying to explain this faith to someone who has no beliefs whatsoever is hard. I can't expect people to believe some of the fairy tales that the bible has in it while science has prooved evolution with undeniable facts.

As part of the Catholic faith, you're not allowed to question the contents of the bible. What they don't tell you is that there are plenty of metaphores and figurative speech in the Bible, if taken literally, there's a lot of nonsense in it.

You'd have to interpret the Bible's words in their own historical context, which is long behind us, many things have gotten lost in translation like this, read the 4th paragraph.

If I go to the core of the Catholic faith knowing what I know now (years of bible study) my only universal advise would be: "Don't to others what you wouldn't like to get"

I like it when people are nice to me, that's why I try to be nice to people.
I hate it when people lie and are hypocritical, so I'm honest.

Problem of christians like chick is that they try to convert through brute force, fear and superiority.

"Its true because it says so in the bible" is something that no one will accept if they dont believe in the bible from the get go.
Portraying anyone that grows without deep faith in Jesus to be a Nazi waiting to happen is just vilifying those that are different from you and being racist towards others beliefs.

Well, the nazi stuff in itself has a very valid point, even if indirectly. Christian faith is not one of hate, and a true practicing christian would never come to such conclusion as to be racist or superior.

Man is the only animal to trip with the same stone twice. Trying to find new ways of dealing with situations just because you're bored or you don't trust other people doesn't mean they're wrong. There are centuries of doctrine that has helped a lot of people lead happier and meaningful lives.

I can't even begin to explain or understand Satanism, to me that's very emo and attention whoreish "I will not only NOT BELIEVE, I will believe in the exact opposite and say stuff that will piss off the majority of the people around me". Some guys in their puberty are conflictive and want to do the exact opposite of what's being imposed to them, straying away from perfectly functional community structures, like practicing faith in groups, which would eventually lead to more interaction with other people and being able to create a sefety net in case something negative should ever occur to their health or their life circumstances.

Believe me, this is just very bad marketing.

Forget the bible, or the punishing God. Forget the immaculate Mary or the celibate Jesus.
First they should tackle the basics, look at commandments? Don't lie, don't steal, don't cheat on your wife, don't kill, try to make a stable family core. That's common sense, right there.
Then an advanced course on the basics of Jesus' teachings - preach on proposing ways of living in a community according to common higher good, and go the extra mile by being loving to others.

If I ever request my account to be deleted, I'd love to have my posts be kept. It's post like this one what leaves a mark that I existed, and that I at least tried to leave a mark on others. Maybe someone will benefit from my words.

Religions are ( or should be) at heart a book on how to live well with others, they taught common sense and moral basics that could be viewed and discussed by others.

Some of those morals and common senses have degraded over the years, as our societies arent the same as before. But the general well meaning purpose of religions remain.
Its fanatics that give it whole a bad reputation.

Maybe because it doesn't actually call for a discussion.
I myself understood neither the comic, nor the discussion here :P (their purpose I mean, of course - I do get what it's talking about)

Actually I decided to post a deep analytic response because I felt Iced was going to be left sitting watching tumbleweeds pass by. It's a hard to swallow read when you halfway through it, and then they spell it out for you in the end killing any available discussion :-X

Oddly enough, I come from one of the more "liberal" Catholic Churches, and the consensus is pretty much "where good is, that's where God is." However, there's this one guy (from the military) who constantly spouts that unless people know who Jesus is, they're damned, and he also claims the same for people who aren't actively trying to coerce people into Christianity. I personally feel this isn't the right way to go.

Basically my precept is "Share your ideas, and if they don't like it, don't worry about it. If you really want them to be Christian and it's not just for you to earn your wings, then pray about it." Not to mention that as long as they aren't being destructive to society, it's kind of moot point to argue with them to convert.

On a kinda unrelated note, I believe in both Christianity and Evolution. I mean, hasn't anyone ever considered that perhaps God triggered evolution?  o_O

EDIT: Oh yeah, my beliefs state the hell is merely no Godly presence, not some LAKE OF ETERNAL FIRE ALSO KNOWN AS WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH

Westboro Baptist Church is a church Fred Phelps founded where the underlying notion is that gay people are the root of all problems in the world.

Also known for "GODHATESFAGS" , protesting in funerals of soldiers and gay people and screaming at people to repent from their gay ways or they are ending up in hell, they consider themselves to be doing those persons a favour and are oftenly shocked at the devil influence on others, since that, when they are trying to save them going to their loved ones funerals to tell them their dead loved ones are rotting in hell, persons usually attack them.

Certainly the presence of the devil.

( They are also loaded with lawyers ready to lawsuit anyone attacking them in their free expression)
