Hey guys,

I am not fast and some of these WIPS have been started years ago.

Anyway, here is what I'm cooking:

Characters

Kensou

The clsn detector does work on non clean images IIRC.
Is a mess. :gonk: Needs sexy new coding to go with sexy sprites.

About the Clsn detector program, which kind of algorithm are you using? Because if you hard code how each corner of a clsn box looks like, you'll be able to find the coordinates even on non cleaned images, using a simple exhaustive search, or other faster algorithms.
I use my own algorithm which might not be the most efficient but it is reliable. As I said, the detection is customizable but I suppose that a screenchot is more explicit:


Obviously, the more color are defined as possible cross or box color, the more longer is the detection.

The clsn detector does work on non clean images IIRC.
Indeed but on slow computers, the software tends to freeze because of the detection that take too much time. Working on a more or less clean picture is a good way to significatively decrease the process time.

KOF96 screenpack has been "ported" to WinMugen +.

I still have to fix font offsets, expect a release soon.

Clark98, Andy97, Robert98 and Chris are submitted to betatests.

Last week, I spent some time to rewrite the pattern of my ClsnDetector C# code that was a total mess. I'm updating it to be Model-View-Presenter compliant, which will be a lot easier to implement background workers that will ensure responsivness.

Will this be a simple SFFv2 viewer (which would make it not so useful), or a real GUI SFFv2 creator, with possibility to change the axes, add sprites or group of sprites, etc. ?

To be honest, I have no goal to achieve. I'm working on this while it's fun. Anyway, my work will be open source and available once I will have something clean and decent to upload. For the moment, I use a quick and dirty method to convert raw data into bitmap instead of using a library like SDL.

By the way, I saw 2 SFFv2 loader projects that were not able to load LZ5 compressed file because the format is a bit more complex but I got it:

So if I can help similar projects, do not hesitate to ask questions regarding thing.

Ok guys I need someone skilled enough to edit the cheap KO animation done by Walt to fit Andy97 outfit:

I can provide the character spritesheet if needed.

Also, I know that it represents a huge challenge but I would like to give Chris a cheap KO animation...

Any help would be appreciated.

Some news:
1. CLSNDetector:
I lost the MVP source of CLSNDetector and I don't have the motivation to convert it again right now. I think I will release it as it is now... Responsiveness improvement might come later.

2. Characters:
- Adding the KOF02UM HSDM BG, resources and code being directly stolen from Vans character, thanks to him


- Adding an option in the config.txt and config.exe to select KOF02 or KOF02 UM BG
- Fixing bugs, thanks to Ebil_Homer's feedback
- Adding cheap KO/collapse animation where it is missing, thanks to Thedge and Walt for the fantastic help:


Characters status:
- Andy, Robert, Clark and Chris are at 98%
- Kensou is at 45%, all his specials of the Psycho Power mode are done, the specials of the non Psycho Power mode and all the DMs remain

Ah, it would be just great. MUGEN universe needs good conversion of KOF Andy. :)

Too bad that the motivation is lost. :( Maybe share these incomplete works with another good creators and let them complete the conversion? :)

This was actually already my option but only a few trusted people might complete my unfinished works.

I am going to wait a bit to see if the motivation comes back.

Guess what? I found some time and motivation this week-end.

After more than 6 month of inactivity, here is some progress on Kensou:

Status:
- Psychic Power mode (based on his KOF'02 incarnation) is complete since December
- Non Psychic Power mode (based on his KOF'00/KOF02UM Ex incarnation) is almost complete:
* Need to finish the DM shown in the video (damages, explods, etc)
* 1 SDM and 1 HSDM left, knowing that the SDM is almost a copy-paste of the DM version and that the HSDM is very simple to code

He's almost done... expect a release within the next 10 months ;)

No feedback, I guess it is ready for a public release unless... nobody realised that Kensou97 is missing is collapse animation.
It should be fixed thanks to the help of Thedge.

In the meantime, I am working from time to time on my KOF95 characters update and completion.

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a good soul to edit those Billy03 animation frames to 02 frames for me:
- Collapse animation:


- Ldm animation

I want to use that move as HSDM in alternate mode.

Here is the Billy02 sheet for those that are interested:

Some observations between both sets.

Skin is managed the exact same way for the most part, except 02 has 1 extra light shade for highlights.
Action - Palette Swap the colors from darkest to lightest. The highlights can be added manually.

Similar situation for the blue clothes. Action - Replace the blacks from the lightest to darkest. 02 set will require a black outlines, which can be added manually after the palette swap is complete.

The only real spriting "problem" are the boots and the jacket details. I know we already discussed this elsewhere, but is there any chance you could apply the palette swap for the sheet I just posted above?

Talking about Kensou, I am still fighting to edit his XI frames to add him his intro versus Athena. I have to admit that I don't feel comfortable with it because I suck more than ever at sprite edit :P
Is there a good soul that would help me to achieve that?


More recently, I spent hours on ClsnDetector, here is the log:

Corners detection speed dramatically increased (reading from LockBits)
Detection based on 3 corners instead of 4 added (to counter one the corners hidden by the axis cross)
Profile management added (idea given by Vans)
Issue regarding the detection and the minimum size of the boxes fixed

1.0.0.3 (March 2014)
Code refactored
Axis cross highlighted according to the size defined in the selected profile
Responsiveness improved thanks to multithreading and a limitation for the possible CLSN (hardcoded to 200 for now)
Possibility to cancel the detection process

And here is a screenshot:


ClsnDetector should work with shots taken with:
- Neogeo emulated games (ex: WinKawaks) with hitbox activated via debug dipswitches
- Games that run with FinalBurn rr and the dedicated LUA scripts

Next steps are:
- Beta test it, I might need testers for that
- Fix possible issues
- Write the damn ReadMe :P
- Release it once for all, hoping that it would speed up the accurate conversions process in the Mugen community ;)
