yeah just to let you guys now yeah I'm working on him here is my post :P


ok this a sprite so official and the first of it's kind that I had to play his theme next to it

This is the graphics forum. You really should have put the sprite in this thread if you wanted to post. I had to click on a youtube link that gave me a THEME song, another link, then scroll down to the last flaming post to actually see the sprite. You couldn't have just put it here?

I think his sword is too long. I know he has a long sword. i know FF is known for massive swords in general, but that will just look wrong in mugen. That is over half the screen, it will look seriously screwy.

ok BTW the sword as based on a image i saw I resizing as close to the height as i could this is what i got I could try to for shorting Idea just so it looks short until he swings the damn thing at ya but I'm trying to stay as close to the things appearance I could have a vote on it but oh well If it needs to be short for mugen standards I guess so :P

I extra note yeah it is too big just trying to run way form that will be to much LOLz oh well I guess I have to rethink and  use the old sword I made before :P then again I would say play with him on bigger stages but that only would work in 3D KK I'll shorting the damn thing :P On seconded thought I'm keeping it this I'll try for shorting idea and fix it in such a way that it doesn't spam across the screen when uses it or is not using it

Yeah,the sword it's too long,but it's a great work,the sprites are very good,no damn doubt about it!
I can't wait,i've got another crap version of Sephiroth,but this one it's just 1000000 times better!

well the thing is I'm keeping the length but fixing it so it appears shorter but the truth is it is that long in Dissidia
I used a image of a model resized it to get that length but it's not that long  ;D

this was just a fast edit to see how long is in mugen..........

yeah well it all most covers the stage but I'll fix that by making him take his time to swing it at ya  ;D

that and the other two of his attacks are shortened to just kicks I'd say get a bigger stage actually seeing I'm making him like in dissidia his very slow at swing that damn thing at mid to short range leaves him self open to attacks. It the long range that's most of his attacks focus on that will kill ya.  :twisted:

some of his attacks are fast but there still take there time to execute ;D so he has some weaknesses that can still be done in mugen the same way even with a ridiculously big sword. :V

ok note this is an my first attempt to make Sephiroth come to life in mugen. In other words here is the animation what do ya think it needs I keep thinking I just need to animate the chest and head (maybe the hair too) to look like he is breathing and have more motion :P but oh well didn't think of that up until now



note he's holding the sword at an angle so it only looks like it's short

If you move all the upper body, why the head still freezing like the lower part??

Good sprites, but i think still need work, especially when I see the anim is just like 3 sprites instead 5-8 like it supposed to be with that quality of sprites

People don't grow noticeably bigger when they breathe. You should check out Rugal's standing pose in capcom vs snk for an example.

yeah I know that at this point I'm scarping this one and remaking it according to how Yamakichi did it so no prob I continue tomorrow then

I wouldn't consider that a infinite since you have to make your opponent bounce of the wall and if you do it on the wrong side of the stage the stage interaction would activate.

Even if that was the case, I'm still pretty sure that he is not a balloon. The transitions should be more subtle than what you currently have there; less expanding outward for certain.

Also, I had not realized how silly that particular stance for Cyclops was until now.

dude you never got anything good to say for one, two it's my char I can choose how this will go either way I have the final say with what I can do with it, lastly hey at least it will looks better then gulthor's sorry ass try at making him either way its' not like I can't improve him later or see what others think as well

yeah sure dude lets see cause one thing saying that my game plan sucks  and deeming it something you don't want to see when I got the talent to pull this off doesn't seem like feedback to me if that what your getting at

I post to get any feedback if needed but  that didn't strike me like feedback dude your just saying if that my game plan then i don't like it to see it don't seem like feedback but oh well I try and see what others have to say I don't have to take your world for it

The stance does look too stiff. Might I suggest using Gill as a base?

well I think I'm ok with the main pose even so sephiroth in Dissidia just poses like that if see him stand still in the game like his some bad ass who don't need any other fighting stance :P

It can be done in less frames if you make the animation more subtle. he shouldn't move his shoulders to much.
Focus on the abs. I did lean from that cyclops animation but I didn't go over the top like they did.

note the animation looks a bit faster because of the set up on the FF seems to do that

it's better but i think the shoulders should go more up than out. and still less movement most of the movement should be in the chest and abs

so you think it should move more like cloud with a more Sephiroth like attitude? :P

There is no fluidity there. It's like watching a robot breath. Move shoulders, expand chest, move shoulders, expand chest, grow a bit. It should be move+expand, move+expand+grow. You don't do 1 thing per frame you do many. You're just doing 1 thing in each frame and it doesn't work.

that's a lot better.
but th second movement up should be above the waist. there should be not upward expansion below the belt.
his coat should not move back and up.

just remember no movement below the belt.

BTW here is a random test I did off that GMO reader  all I did was zoom it down to the size of my char and reduced it to 32 color res not bad but it looks crappy and needs some work I guess  ;D

I think I might well make a new look way form that my old sephiroth seeing that ones I made was based on Yamakichi's design I could do more of better look like the last guy who made low res versions using the same set up he did only hi res and also make the rest of the Dissidia series this way any way I'm downloading FFD 012 right now will see how it will go

one would think so but I'm just working on the sprite part so it won't need to be moved until I get to the coding part

Heres the thing. One this is so wrong



Last time I check, my thighs arent the ones with lungs in them. They do the same thing with some of sol bad guys animation that when he is in crouching animation, his thighs breathe.



There should be no reason why when he is breathing that his upper body moves two pixels up. I can see one pixel up and two the side when he breathes. Also too with a slow animation like that think about how you breathe. You wont breathe like that in a steady paste over and over again. This is probably why you are having a little hard time with it. have him breathe and wait a little before he breathes again. change up on how he breathes in and out by spacing the animation time.

yeah it will be but if anything it will be somewhat more easier  to get the right moves, movement and right set up with out needing to go over to many animations and don't need to use other preset sprite and figure how to animate it :P the way i plan to do so though  ;D
