The problem isn't your method, but the motion. Do a fun animation.Don't do stick figures either, you'll have to do more guess work when you get to the final versions.
Tying in with the mech cats idea, SF3 was never a really combo heavy game, at least not nearly as much as MvC. You're a bit far off from this point, but when work gets done on projectiles I would keep an eye on spacing and timing on projectiles. He's a somewhat fast-paced character, which would be a bit difficult to pull off in a sf3 style gameplay-wise.Just my $0.02
Your work looks impressive. I can't wait to see how this eventually turns out. His stance is phenomenal of you ask me. And very nice job on his portrait.
Woke up to great news today. I now have permission to use GM's SF3 works as a base for my Hiryu. I can finally breath easy and couldn't be more excited! I still plan on finding other great creators to work with to insure Hiryu comes out amazing.
Good news man we are happy for you:DSo; on 100%, where are you approximatively with the character ?? Can you give us a beta release date or not yet ? P.S : DAT STANCE, WOW !!!
Its hard to say where I am approximatively with the character. I am just making really rough animations so far.. so not super far I guess. But making steady progress I guess. It has only been 11 days since I started this topic and I already have a good chunck of his sprites worked out.Who would you guys suggest I ask to help out on coding sf3 Hiryu? I already have permission from GM to use his works as a base. I am not desperate for someone to code him or anything I just want him to be coded really well, I guess I should ask "Who do you wish could code Hiryu". Feel free to PM if you don't want to post their names here.
I'm here to say good luck, too.As a suggestion, since i think that you don't wanna use mech tigers and things like that. Why don't you make a super with Strider Hien? Yes, it's a lotta work to do, but, hey, it's something different.GOOD LUCK, You have a great idea on your hands.
Strider Hien would be cool. But it would be even further from SF3 in my opinion.I will be keeping Hiryu's 'option A, B & C' as they seem very important to the character. There just won't be a storm of Robo-panthers and Robot Hawks going across the screen.I have been reading up on Hiryu alot lately. http://strider.wikia.com/wiki/HiryuTrying to come up with some good specials for him.Putting real thought into him being able to loose Cypher, like Captain America loosing his shield.(maybe in a future release or something)Also anyone following this should know I have been slowly updating my first post and I am making good progress on Hiryu.
The loosing Cypher thing is a pretty neat idea, maybe you could add a Strider Hien type move where he throws the Cypher?
It's great to see a project with such quality being worked on regularly. This character is on the top of my most wanted list. I seriously can't wait to see everything come together.I especially love the fluidity of his animations. Capcom, take note!!
Should be pretty interesting to see what kind of close attacks you come up with for him. Since he spends most of his time swinging that ... sword?

Seems like everyone is crazy about CVS and "POTS style" lately.Diepod said, August 09, 2012, 05:03:08 amShould be pretty interesting to see what kind of close attacks you come up with for him. A smash with the hilt (overhead, or spinning perhaps?) could be interesting for close range. Might chain nice visually into regular sword strikes.
Lord Kain said, August 09, 2012, 06:14:40 amHey ink do you mind showing some of the chunk of sprites you said you got so far? I would say I have them roughed out so far. They are far from completed.
The limited promotional material for Capcom Fighting All Stars showed Hiryu in a cypher-less stance, presumably meant to be part of a redefined move set. However, the only real footage of it in action is a few brief glimpses of Hiryu in the trailers for the game, and they only really show him using his blade-tastic supers and stuff. A few seconds of him getting a kick countered, as well. If more footage of the game were available, it might help. I tried to find some for a little inspiration direct from the Capcom source, but alas. No avail. :/Check out some other game ninjas, I guess. Guy, Ibuki, Kenji from Red Earth, Hanzo/Galford, half the cast of Ninja Master's. Maybe even Raven, both in SFxT and his original Tekken series appearances. Also, play some Strider 2. Boost mode might be something to consider nerfing the hell out of and turning into a super. Feng Shui Engine style or something. Perhaps his midare-giri SUPER SLASH, too. I'unno. Ideas.

I think this project is a brilliant idea and I look forward to seeing how it develops and turns out. There's a lot more to MUGEN than POTS/CVS style stuff, and there is a broad audience for solid, originally sprited creations with a variety of play styles. And it is hard to beat CPS3 fluidity of animation. I wish you best of luck!
