The only issue with all that is, when you actually release the char any asshole CAN just take your SFF and do whatever he wants with it. For better or worse, it's inevitable.
Pretty much and it wont be the first time that will happen. But hopefully ink will allow me to use them after he and Rajaa are done.I'm a strider fan, so its only natural, either or I will respect his decision.
I don't know, it doesn't always happen. When the first char made is really well done, and the sprites are a pretty specific style, it's not a guarrentee that 'shitty coders' will try their hand at them. Not to bring Z2 chars into it again, but I was kind of expecting a lot of coders to rip the .sff's and have their way with the sprites, coding them in their personal style. Though as of yet, this hasn't happened yet.
You sprite like crazy and even made a Z2 style full game. If anything of yours is used and made public, hell would break lose. Its pretty much like that for well known spriters.Anyway look at when BlueStreak was being sprited, someone made a shitty character with Diepod sprites before BlueStreak sprite set was completed. In the same day, that release was removed. IT happens, but the community will have a fit when it does.
ink said, December 25, 2014, 08:57:00 pmI could never understand why some one would not release their work for anyone to use, until I got further into this project.I totally get your reluctance to post everything out in the open, people can snatch stuff up and it can be frustrating and disheartening.I'm not that good of a spriter, but ages ago, I was putting together a crude idea for a stage, and lo and behold some dude took every gif I had posted on some forums and released a horrible, buggy stage of my work. Also, me and some buds worked on a certain dark defender of justice and the sprites got stolen and placed into a released character, but the less I say about that, the better. In this day and age, it's inevitable that someone may pull your sprites for their own means, but feel comfortable in what you do show off, but also be careful. At the end of the day we'll all be able to recognize your work Ink.Sorry to derail the topic heh.
Diepod said, December 27, 2014, 07:43:59 pmI never even heard of the one you're talking about synStrange, because I remember it following your sprite development and it happened before he was coded. You were the one that pointed it out.
Yes, I remember that.It was in a forum, he posted all the gifs you uploaded and claimed it was his original character. I think it wasn't a Mugen forum and was it last year? Two years ago?
I think around 2 years ago. I vaguely remember that as well. Didn't he even call Bluestreak some other name to throw further salt into the wound?
That's what threw me. It was some guy proposing a moveset for an online game that had nothing to do with mugen. He called it "The Streak". I thought SyN meant someone actually made something. That thing never got off the ground.Going back in my corner now...
